I bought this to hold my Boss GX100 guitar multi-effects processor board up off the floor for ease of programming using my hands. The holes in the back plane make it easy to thread cables through to keep things secure and neat. You have to be careful too hold the back side of the frame with one finger while you press the buttons or else it will tip over.

These stands on Amazon are all basically the same, made in China. I found no difference between this and other stands that cost more. It’s portable and adjustable. It’s plenty sturdy unless you think you have to put more than a couple of books or some sheet music, cell phone, etc. It’s not a plant stand nor a writing desk, and it will not hold up an elephant. The tripod legs should only be opened wide enough (about a foot apart) to hold up and balance the stand, though if you insist on being stupid, it will let you push it down and all the way until it won’t balance and you break it. This stand is a good value and quality.

~ Good, crisp, professional look.
~ Minimal (and easy) assembly EXCEPT for one minor quibble. There is barely enough clearance (see photo) for the thumbscrew which secures the tray attachment tightly to the top of the shaft. Makes this portion of assembly a bit of a PITA, but unless you expect to detach and reattach the tray frequently this sure isn’t a deal breaker.
~ Build quality seems good on my unit. Some other reviews have complained about poor fit, but mine appears fabricated and assembled to tight tolerances.
~ Roadworthiness: I can’t speak to that. The tray is fabricated of medium-gage metal sheet. Not as heavy as some of the old dinosaurs, but also not as “heavy” (in terms of load weight).
My application is for semi-permanent installation in a home office to hold draft manuscripts in 3-ring binders while I do retype and edits. So for me, this appears to be an ideal, economical solution. Tray dimensions are large enough (and tray shelf deep enough) to comfortably hold an open binder. This should make it equally useful for holding an artist’s book of music, I would think.

Tripod stand and telescoping pole is very decent for the money and exceeded my expectations. The sheet music stand “tray” is also very nice. No complaints at all.
The big problem is the manner in which these attach to each other. The stand’s bracket and “tray” slot into a wedge-shaped bracket. A set screw then pushes one wedge closer against the other wedge to prevent movement—in theory! However, in my stand, the manufacturing tolerance of the two wedges is far too great, and tightening the set screw actually pushes the inner wedge to pop right out of the larger one. This is mega dangerous and nearly damaged and maimed a very expensive vintage instrument of mine. It makes it impossible to properly tighten, and that can lead the tray to fall over.
However, a simple hack with zip ties solves this problem. Drilling a hole and using a proper bit and bolt, also would have addressed this. Either way, it’s easy to fix this flaw if you’re handy. The one downside is that such a hack somewhat defeats (or at least complicates) it’s easy assembly and disassembly if you want a “portable” stand.

This is a great stand. I purchased it for using at home, and not for taking to jams. I like that the footprint is not too large in my office. (The legs spread wide enough, but don’t take over the room.) It has a nice wide shelf for a big songbook. I’m using it for playing the ukulele, and I have a large spiral songbook that it holds easily. The knobs for adjusting height are sturdy. This is exactly what I was looking for,

The stand is very wide and can hold a decent amount of sheet music. It also has very useful grippers that hold the papers in place in case it is windy or they just won’t stay. It is not easy to take from place to place unfortunately and it is hardly compact. It is just a tad wobbly, but not enough for it to bother me at all. Other than that it’s a pretty good stand and is worth your money.

What a great deal. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this light but sturdy, music stand. It’s such quality at a low price. It is much better than I expected. The fold out tripod seats firmly, even on carpet and holds lots of sheet music and books with ease. It adjusts down low, an important factor for me but is steady also at full height. There are 3 sections that make adjustments easy and all the hardware is well designed and they all have good fit and finish.
