I bought this drum set for my 3-year-old son, who has recently taken a strong interest in playing drums (partly inspired by our old “Rock Band” Xbox set). Since those are no longer produced and a bit of a collector’s item now, I wanted something kid-friendly to satisfy his curiosity without risking damage to our vintage setup. This drum set turned out to be a great choice!
One feature I genuinely appreciate is the lack of built-in speakers. Instead, it gives you the flexibility to use headphones for quiet play or connect your own external speakers via a standard 3.5mm analog input cable. This makes it a versatile option for different environments.
The drum set is surprisingly flexible, which is perfect for kids and makes it easier to store or transport. You can even roll it up to fit in a bag for convenience. My son is still figuring out how to use the foot pedals, but I see this as part of the learning process and am confident he’ll get the hang of it over time.
Another practical feature is the dual power option – it runs on AAA batteries or via USB, so you can use a wall adapter or a portable power bank. This adds a lot of convenience for on-the-go use.
As a side note, I noticed that the product image showed “Drum” misspelled as “Drun,” but the unit I received had the correct spelling, so it seems they’ve resolved this issue.
Overall, this is a great budget-friendly introduction to drums for kids. It’s engaging, portable, and well-thought-out for young beginners.

This is a really fun drum set. I have zero experience with drums, and that’s exactly why I wanted this. I’ve always wanted to learn drums but don’t want to invest in an expensive or large set. This is perfect. It’s small and portable, and I love that it can roll up and go in a backpack.
While small, it’s still large enough to be comfortable to use. The pads are mostly responsive. It occasionally misses, but only when I’ve tapped the pad very lightly. The back is silicone and non-slip, so it won’t slip on the table while you’re using it.
From what I can tell, the buttons at the top are built on the same chip and covered with a single strip of rubber button caps, which causes issues of pressing one button and accidentally pressing the button next to it. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a con worth mentioning.
The pedals work well and are responsive, too.
I like that it can be either plugged in or battery-powered. And it comes with a cable to connect an external speaker to the microphone port.
There are five drum kits to pick from, several demo songs, and a metronome. You can also plug in an MP3 player or a TF card. I don’t know why they went with a TF card slot and not SD. That’s a bummer. Who has TF cards lying around!?
Anyway, this is a great beginner drum set. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.

I’ve been playing drums for over 35 years and own an extensive electronic kit that I record with. For under $40 you can’t really beat this little kit. The default position of the hi-hat and snare are technically in the correct position for a right hand player but is awkward because the pads are all at the same height. By pressing the “special” button you can swap those positions for a much easier playing experience.
Overall the drum sounds are pretty standard samples and you can’t play dynamics with these triggers but this is an excellent first kit to see if a child is interested in furthering their education and whether to invest in a bigger more expensive kit.
The button layout is very simple and everything is rubber which is easy to clean and doesn’t slip around while playing.
The metronome is also a nice addition to teach playing in time. This kit will also teach dexterity, rhythm, timing and hand eye coordination.
Being able to power this with batteries or a usb cable makes it very portable for quiet practice.
The biggest issue is finding a comfortable position and height. With a little experimenting I think the kit can be very playable and realistic. I may take a cymbal stand and mount a board on it so this kit can be easily adjusted for height and angle. The two foot pedals are standard expression pedals. The hi-hat pedal doesn’t control open and closed position but just plays the “chick” sound. A real drum pedal like an Alesis or Kat controller will work on this and can make the bass drum much more responsive.
