Hate the price, but my finicky eater will only eat this.

Vet recommend for NC kitten because kibble size is larger, satisfying his need to exercise jaw muscles. Will help regulate his rapid growth so he doesn’t grow too fast, best for large bone development. He loves this kibble. He had wet food as well. Likes to take one piece at a time and play with it. I use it for treat puzzles as well. Expensive but worth it, gets him off to a good start during the first 2 years of growth. He is 17 lbs at 11 months and beautiful coat!

We have three pure bread Main Coon kittens. Royal Canin , both wet and dry, is the best we’ve tried, because it’s specially geared to Main Coon nutritional needs. We made a test with our kittens and bought a premium dry food, Royal Canin dry for kittens, and Royal Canin Main Coon kitten. We put three bowls out, one with each dry kibble. Result – the ate the Royal Canin Main Kibble, nibbled at the Royal Canin kitten and didn’t touch the premium brand kibble at all. Proof is in the eating. Royal Canin Main Coon Kitten is all we use for kibble.

By the way, we Rand the same test with wet food with the same result – – Royal Canin!

I acquired a Maine Coon kitten in June, along which came a bag of kitten food that the breeder uses with all her litters. He liked the food just fine, and also a second, gourmet one that I bought at a pet store and then refilled through Amazon. We also would give him those “Tempting” treats that they call “cocaine for cats” which he would go wild over.

Then I saw this product specifically for Maine Coon Kittens from a well reviewed brand, so thought I’d give it a try. Well, he goes for this food with almost the vigor that he attacks the “Treats”. I had thought that having two different types of food would add nutritional variety, and he wouldn’t tire of one flavor. After seeing how he eats this, each time basically attacking it, I gave up the thought of getting anymore of the other two types. I’m sure he wouldn’t accept them and hold out for Royal Canin. I’ve now gone through 3 3-pound bags; his interest in this food has not diminished one bit. One additional bonus is that it is much easier for him to “crunch” than the other two were. Though they are larger in size, it seems the pieces are less dense so that he has an easier time breaking them down.

I picked up my Maine coon kitten a few weeks ago, before driving out to get her I ordered this before getting her to make sure I was ready! I went off of other reviews and ingredients, I was happy to find my breeder recommended this as well! My kitten loves this food! We have been mixing it with wet food as well and no issues! Will be buying again.

My Maine Coon kitten really loves this chow- the problem is my other DSH cats also like it. If the price wasn’t so very high, I’d let them have it. But at that price for a 3 lb bag ($30+) I have to guard her dish like a hawk, or completely remove it so she’s not able to freely eat. I’d be spending a $100 a week! Besides, my other short hair cats would gain too much weight!

My cat absolutely loves this food.
Its is pretty expensive for such a small bag and it doesnt come in larger sizes. Also maine coons eat a ton and we go through at least 2 bags a month.

Only thing to worry about, if they are just starting to eat dry food, is the pieces are pretty big. Might be hard for a small kitty to eat whole.

So, I will preface this review by saying that I have fed my cats Royal Canin (Urinary S/O) for over a decade now. My oldest boy is turning 16 in April and was diagnosed with struvite crystals in 2013, and he will begin to block on Hills or Purina. That being said I place a LOT of trust in Royal Canin’s cat food//kitty kibble.
I recently brought Samhain into my home on Halloween. I want to make sure he has the best of the best food (my kitties are given purified bottled water, so that should help tell you how crazy I am with their diet lol) and I use kitty kibble to help balance his diet out as I feed him meat like chicken and fish for dinner, but our vet says it’s just not enough for a growing Coon and he needs extra supplements-OR a good kibble to give him everything he needs.
The vet then recommended this stuff, and I immediately ordered a bag because of my faith in this company. He is 9 months old now and has no problem eating this kibble. I don’t think this would be appropriate for a young/smaller Coon, as the kibble is pretty sizable even with it being their “kitten” kind. I personally wouldn’t recommend this for a baby Coon that’s just starting to eat kibble, this is great for a bigger kitten that’s approaching adulthood.
As for the impact it has had on Samhain, it’s a fantastic food! His coat is GORGEOUS and feels soft and luxurious. He has had minimal shedding, no matting (he doesn’t like being brushed yet so this has been a big help), and oh my gosh he has been growing like a weed! Obviously it could simply be a growth spurt but he had seemed to have slowed down dramatically after he hit the 8 month mark, then ramped up again after about a week on this kibble.
It is pretty pricey for the amount you’re getting, it does say “3lbs” so I’m sure the size won’t surprise you if you read the description all the way through/registered that as a VERY small bag, but it’s still worth mentioning. $30 is a lot of money for 3lbs of non-prescription cat kibble, and I cannot say that it’s justified to be completely honest with you.
It’s a great kibble if you can afford the expense, however please don’t break your bank shelling out beaucoup money for this specific kibble. In my opinion, you’d be ok with just using the regular non-breed specific RC kibble options. All of their food is really really good!
I give Samhain a handful of this kibble for breakfast in the morning and he has access to the prescription kibble all day long (seriously, that prescription kibble is CHEAPER than this stuff…crazy), and it’s still made a noticeable difference in his appearance. It’s definitely worth the expense and you can even mix it with another kibble and still give your baby the nutrients this stuff provides without spending a crazy amount of money doing so.
