The bag isn’t really a bag. It’s a light tarp with straps. The straps can not be used like a backpack and when you try and carry it, it’s akward and will probably mess up your back if you carry it alone or very far.

When you have it inflated, pray that you are steps from the water because for a single person kayak, it’s way too heavy to carry yourself. There is a wheel dolly you could buy with it but I don’t know how well it goes into the kayak once you launch it.

Also this thing is not easy to get back into if you fall out. You better have really strong arms and not weigh 230lb to get back into it. I don’t know how to get back into this kayak, so if you’re going to fall out, which is HIGHLY LIKELY, you better have that life vest on otherwise you’re going to have to leave it in the middle of the lake and swim yourself to shore. You can may a DIY foot rest/rope that might help. I didn’t realize how dangerous this sport was until I fell in.

Also it doesn’t come with ropes to tie on the sides. I think this would help as far as getting back into a kayak you fell out of. I haven’t worked that out but what comes with this kayak alone is not going to be enough. You have to get a flotation device (PFD i think it’s called), some way to transport it to the water, and some way to get back into it if you fall out.

I bought this kayak last year in May, and used it all summer. It is my first kayak experience EVER, and it was easy enough to put together and use for a total beginner. Here are some pros and cons that I hope will be helpful to other anglers:

    PROS
    – Sit on top swivel seat is an absolute amazing touch, and in my opinion a must-have, I can’t imagine fishing without it. The swivel seat also has an extra 2 rod holders mounted on them that are in a more convenient location.
    – You can easily stand up while fishing. I’ve tripped on my paddle and caught myself with the sides of the kayak numerous times, and it didn’t even falter, so this thing is STABLE. I’ve yet to find a way to tip it over
    – The material is very tough, I’ve scraped myself over numerous fallen logs while my boat was heavy w/ equipment, and it doesn’t even leave but a small scratch on it
    – The 6 built in rod holders are a nice touch, and I use the 3 in the back of the boat all the time. The 3 holders in the front of the boat are kind of in the way of casting in my opinion, so I do not use them, but they can be repurposed for other things.
    – The boat comes with D-rings installed on both sides to easily install an anchor trolley – which I did. Works great. The boat has other D rings on top of the sides as well to support the optional swivel seat and motor mount. These can be useful for other things, too, like using them to secure the kayak to something, or can be used to leash things to them while on the water so you don’t lose them overboard
    – The bag that it comes with is great, because you don’t need to worry about folding the kayak back up into the smallest possible size it can get like when it was first packaged. You can just fit the bag around the folded kayak using the straps, its not like a zip-up bag that has a finite amount of space inside.

    CONS
    – It’s a bit too heavy and large to transport by hand. You can maybe transport it by hand while it is not inflated, but it can still be tough because of the weight and size. I’ve also had a hard time finding a kayak cart that will transport it without it sliding off because the bottom of the boat is flat. Sea Eagle sells a kayak cart specifically for their boats, and I haven’t tried it but they seem too wide to be able to bring down most foot paths and bridges that I would be transporting the kayak on. A DIY cart specifically for this kayak would be best I think, and probably much cheaper.
    – I could never quite figure out/have the strength to put the pedals on but I find that you will not need them if using the sit-on-top swivel seat anyways
    – The measuring board on the inner-side of the boat is nice to have, but the swivel seat, when installed, inhibits the use of a portion of it (about the first 0 – 2inches of the measuring board are slightly covered by the seat). It’s also at a weird angle to properly and accurately measure the length of a fish.

I’ve had the kayak for a year now and have used it almost every weekend this summer and fall. Pros: The kayak is very stable, you have to work at tipping it over. Getting back in is a challenge, I needed to re-enter from the back and use the D-rings to pull myself up. I got the inflatable seat version and it is very comfortable and sits a couple inches off the floor which is nice. The drop-stitch floor is great and makes it rigid enough to stand, but the inside of the boat is not very wide so makes it hard to spread your feet to get a good center of gravity. The skeg (i also bought the 7 inch skeg) makes the boat track pretty well. It has been durable so far although I do try to avoid stumps, blow downs and pointy rocks but have hit a few with not a scratch yet. I had a leak in the floor valve and the customer service was great. I shipped the floor to them and they took care of it. Lots of D-rings all over the place to tie stuff down.
Cons: the thing is pretty heavy as they warn you, so having to carry it up and down staircases is workout. I found the 240 cm aluminum paddle that comes with the boat to be way to short and heavy. It’s worth investing in a nice 260-270 cm paddle. I’ve had some issues with the peddle mounts coming unglued from the boat, but the glue provided in the repaid kit and a small vise is a pretty easy fix. Drying the boat after use is not that easy, water collects under the floor and no way to get at it without removing the floor and drying it good. Inflating and deflating the boat is time consuming and a hassle, but when I look around at the poor saps fishing from bank, I realize it is a small price to pay. The seating options that are available work pretty good, but wish they had a lawn chair option available. Lastly, the boat sits pretty high above the water so the wind pushes you around like a balloon. A good anchor system is a must.
Overall rating – great. It is very stable and durable, I’ve had only very minor issues with it, and it made it through the first year without a problem.
