First time father here. With my new baby, I got so anxious knowing whether she was breathing or not. After being told that babies can suffocate in bassinets with sheets or in the corner if they roll, I got so worried. Also learned that babies do best on their backs. And I had no idea wether she was too hot or cold. Our baby was in the NICU so they kept monitoring her with temp sensors, breathing, heart rate, and oxygen. I got used to seeing those things. When we got home, had none and First night of sleep was rough and worrisome. So I found and ordered Sense-U.
This thing is Great! My wife likes it too. It’s REALLY easy to use. I was surprised the battery is lasting a really long time too even though it is a CR2032. After a month use, it’s at 90% battery.as far as the sensors, roll, temperature, and breathing, it’s very useful. It is very sensitive to where you place it but I followed the instructions and put it on the diaper in the center under her belly button. It is almost instant in detection of a baby roll or stomach roll change and loud alarm goes off on stomach.
The temperature sensor is nice and a ding sound goes off when too hot. The breathing is where I am the most happpy. It’s generally somewhere between 15-50 beats per minute which lets me know she’s breathing. A couple of times the alarm has gone off when it’s less than 5 BPM. I ran to baby, moved her a little and she squirmed and breathing went back up.
The numbers displayed are not as accurate as in the NICU or direct cable sticker sensors. When I took baby in for Doctors visit, we saw a couple of the NICU nurses and they were curious about the sensor so I showed them. When they saw the numbers displayed they were concerned as they are out of range that they like, but I told them it is not direct like theirs are. More so, this device shows if baby is within a range of numbers that are ok. And that’s all I care about. Is baby ok? Don’t have to have perfect number, just is she breathing? Is she warm enough and not too hot/cold? And is she on her back or side. And this device does that.

I haven’t had any problem with the clip as I saw I. Reviews when purchasing. The clip seems strong for me and it came with a spare. The blue tooth range is ok but not as good as other Bluetooth devices. If I go to the complete other side of house it will disconnect, but reconnects again when in range.I don’t stay that far from baby most of time so not a big deal.

I like the product, it makes my spirit more calm regarding my baby but sometimes it’s too sensitive and the alarm start when everything is fine

Produto muito bom, cumpre bem a função de medir os movimentos respiratórios. Apenas o clip que prende na fralda poderia ser um material mais suave para o bebê (emborrachado ou silicone).

So far I’ve only used it for a few days but I like it. I feel more comfortable knowing that my baby’s breathing is being monitored. I really like that I can turn it off when I take it off to change his diaper or when I put him on my chest and don’t have to fully take it off. So far it’s been great!

I am so glad I found this. As a first time mom, bed time was what I dreaded the most every night. SIDS absolutely terrifies me and this has been my saving grace and the only reason I am able to get any bit of sleep. It seems to be really accurate. The alarms that sound will definitely catch your attention in a deep sleep. I like the app too. It’s very easy to navigate and understand. BEST BABY PURCHASE EVER!!!

This is such a good concept & I really wanted to love this. There are just way too many flaws.

First, I’m not sure if it’s the programming or just the way they designed this device & the app, but the most important factor for me was the breathing monitor. That’s what sold me. It’s just not accurate. Most of the time, it says my newborns breathing rate is 12-30, which is not a normal rate for newborns anyway. But, I can even hear that she’s breathing more than that. I don’t know if it’s just not as sensitive as it should be. Also, when I take the monitor off of her & forget to turn it off in the app, a good 5-7 minutes goes by before it ever alerts me that breathing is low or has stopped, which is absolutely absurd. 5-7 minutes of absent breathing in a new more is more than detrimental. That’s life or death. And then there’s times when I take the monitor off of her & it still picks up breathing for a while, & I’m not even sure how that’s possible. I just feel like this feature was totally BS’d. It isn’t accurate & really doesn’t work well.

Second, the battery life is absolutely terrible. I have had to change the battery 3 times in 6 weeks. And that only consists of use at night for about 8 hours, max. I feel like the battery runs down so fast because there truly is no ‘off’ function. Sure, if you turn it off in the app, it just keeps you from getting notifications. But the light still flashes & it’s actually still ‘on’ & never goes off. I’m sure pulling the battery out after every use would help but it’s truly not even that easy to get open.

Third, the app is terrible. You can only pair ONE phone/device. And if you log into the device on another phone, with the same account, you have to completely pair the device with your account again, which is a huge pain for parents who alternate nights with the baby. Also, the notifications are so inconsistent. Sometimes when there’s slowed breathing (again a terrible function), the alert sounds like a loud alarm, which is an awesome concept. But then sometimes the alert is silent & only pops up as a notification, which just doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t even depend on whether your phone is on silent or loud, because I always keep my phone on silent & sometimes the notification is the loud alarm & sometimes it isn’t. The same goes for the rollover function. When baby rolls to their stomach, you get a notification sometimes with an alarm, sometimes without.

Fourth, the temperature reading is complete crap. I don’t understand how it could be said that the temp could even remotely be accurate when the device doesn’t sit against baby’s skin, only diaper. The only part that touches baby’s skin is the outside clip, which has no true connection to the device besides physical. Now, I will say that the notification for this function always alerts aloud. The flaw with this though, is if you do have temperature notifications on & baby’s temp drops too low, the notification will ding every minute or so until it comes back up, which I feel is not super helpful since the reading isn’t accurate anyway.

And lastly, which is what pushed me over the edge to leave this review, the clip broke after 6 weeks of use. Sure it comes with an extra, but what if that one only lasts 6 weeks, too? As far as I know, you can’t purchase only the clip. I may be wrong about that, but I haven’t found anything. It seems like it broke due to warmth, almost like it became playable after being against baby’s warm belly. When it broke it didn’t snap, but cracked all the way across & wouldn’t serve it’s purpose although it is still technically attached.

I honestly would not purchase this product if given the opportunity to go back for a redo. I would spend a little more money on something of better quality. And I truly don’t understand how the reviews here are so good. That’s what pushed me to purchase this product besides the $20.00 off coupon that was offered at the time. Overall, this product is just poorly made & designed. Hope this helps another worried momma!

To make a long story short…we have used the Owlet that goes around the ankle and foot for our babies and loved it. Our current baby has a clubfoot and his braces do not allow room for the Owlet monitor so we were searching for an alternative. The Sense U has been a great option and has given me peace of mind while my baby sleeps! It’s also cheaper than the Owlet but still good quality. It’s got great battery life and is fairly easy to use. Sometimes I have to turn my Bluetooth off and then back on again to get it to connect when I put it on him at bedtime but overall I really don’t have any complaints! I also love how portable this is. You can take it anywhere! I did not purchase the base station and don’t feel a need to. It works great with just my phone and helps me sleep so much better knowing I will get an alert if my baby starts breathing abnormally. I was skeptical but I’m happy to say that I would highly recommend this product and this is not in anyway sponsored by the company. Just honestly happy with this purchase!
