Amazon Customer –
This is the case that Fender *USED TO* put the American Standards in, back in about 2008. It’s identical other than saying “SKB” on the side instead of “Fender”. I like the latches, the light weight, the decent sized accessory bin area for tuner, straps, picks, etc. The lining of the case is ok too. If you have multiples, they stack and interlock – also great if taking multiple strats/teles to a gig. When loading, they are rectangular so provide nice “flat surfaces” which is also convenient.
I have lots of other guitars with various types of cases, but I really like this particular case. I have 4 of these cases now…one with a fender logo and 3 SKB’s – they are clearly my favorite strat/tele case. If you are flying, you may want to look at SKB’s ICON case, which is a lot tougher but also heavier and larger (but with wheels!). Those are good but pricy and kind of clunky for gigs due to the larger size and weight – but far better if checking a guitar as baggage.
This is the 1-SKB-66PRO. SKB also makes a slightly less expensive version – the SKB66, don’t confuse them — Not the same.
I also previously ordered Fender’s current hardshell they sell with the red handle, that they are shipping with American Standards and it stinks. It has cheap latches, and god awful lining that looks like black halloween fake fur or something. Just awful…I paid to ship that back and got another SKB-66PRO instead. Costs a little more, but these are great.
If budget is a concern, you can also find the Fender version of these, used, on e-bay and reverb.com for about $80-$130.

Great case. Positive locking. Really solid “feel”. Nicely balanced for carrying when a guitar is inside; not heavier at one end than the other.
Has a wider footprint when sitting on the ground so it is MUCH less prone to tipping or falling over.
The ONLY concern is that, a Telecaster equipped with a Hipshot B-bender will not allow the lid to be closed. The bender (where the actuator rod is inserted) impacts the metal frame of the case.
The only way around this would be to remove some case padding at the headstock.
Also, if you use an external Roland GK MIDI pickup (the kind mounted to the guitar body, the case will not close.
Now these two problems are ubiquitous with all cases that I’ve purchased. Even the Fender cases. So, I’m not faulting them for that; the company can’t possibly plan for every scenario.
Final opinion: excellent protection, relatively lightweight, solid latches, fits perfectly for un-modified Strat or tele.

Muy buen estuche, la guitarra (Fender Strato Japonesa) entra perfectamente sin ningun juego, liviano y duradero, la cerradura no la he probado aun pero tiene muy muy buena pinta

Got this SKB 66Pro with my Deluxe Telecaster, very good finish , very good fit of my Tele,
I was fond of it until I flew from France to Tunisia : due to hard handling , the ABS outer shell was broken on one angle , and aluminum valance was bent. For sure my case fell out of a running trolley on the tarmac which is not supposed to happen. At least my Tele did not suffered. I think polyethylene could better resist to knocks.

I bought this case for a ’59 reissue Fender Strat. I looked at every other case sold for my style of guitar and was convinced that this was the only choice.
This case has a nice snug fit, comfortable handle, it’s lighter than other cases and yet feels really solid and well balanced. I’m able to fit my DI box, cables and just about everything else I need in the accessory slot, which seals up nicely when latched; I don’t miss the flap cover style. The latches are great too, the best I’ve used.
I can’t find one negative thing to say, nor any improvement suggestions, it’s that good.

Just received this case today and it looks pretty well made and my Strat sits in there extremely well without moving or anything. The case itself looks good so far and looks like it can handle a flight. I have a 28 hour international flight in 5 days so i will update this review after my flight.
UPDATE: the case survived the extremely long flight with only minor scratches. Would recommend this case to anyone looking to protect their guitar during a flight or regular day to day use. Thank you SKB.

Overall an excellent case well-made and lite, my American Standard Strat fits perfectly. Only two small points: 1) the aluminum seam around the outside does not match perfectly (works fine though) and 2) does not have a compartment that can be closed. Excellent latches, padding, and overall construction.

SKB cases offer excellent protection and value and this one’s no exception. Excellent fit to a 60s pattern custom Telecaster. I build custom guitars and have used SKB for a number of different guitars and will continue using them.

If you’re looking for a lightweight case to go in aircraft hold this isn’t it. I’ve done one flight with it and a corner is cracked with a chunk missing. It’s a nice case otherwise but there are cheaper that are just as good for general (non flying) use.

It took a lot of research to find the right case and right guitar. I own a Fender Mexican Telecaster and the guitar fits great in this case. I prefer to keep my guitar in the case rather than stress the neck by hanging or risking putting it in a stand where visitors or children could mess around with it. I keep my cheap Dunlop strap on and am able to properly close the case with the strap on as well as store my guitar cleaner and picks nicely in the case. I have not traveled outside of the house with the case yet. It seems sturdy, will protect your guitar, and is a fairly thin, light and compact case design. How will it withstand flying or being compressed by heavy objects? I’m not sure and don’t plan on letting TSA handle my guitar anytime soon. This is worth the money to keep your guitar safe.

Buen ajuste de la guitarra y poco peso.
Es una Fender Telecaster american standard.

The case fits a Strat perfectly. Bought it for a used Strat which I recently purchased. It came with a soft case. This is the second SkB case I’ve bought for Strats. They are light, but seem sturdy. The feet on the side allow you to lay the case down vertically without worrying about tipping it over, instead of having to lay it flat on the floor.

The first thing I noticed about this case is that the plastic is very thin and brittle. The case didn’t even survive the shipping to me…the corner had cracked and chipped. True, this could have been from rough handling, but regardless…the plastic is not high quality.
The interior of the case is a nice plush material, but my American Deluxe Strat didn’t very well. The channel cut for the neck didn’t wasn’t cut deep enough, so the guitar seemed to rock a bit. The contour for the body was cut very well either…there was a hot spot where the guitar curves in at the waist.
Lastly, the hardware. The latches are good quality but the trigger mechanism is annoying. It has to be actuated from under the latch, which means that you bend your hand at a really weird angle to undo the latches if the case is sitting on a low surface (like the floor). The hinges are very cheap and don’t seem very good quality. The tolerance on the hinges and placement are very loose.
I can live with all of the issues except the cheap plastic shell. Needless to say, I returned the case.
