Eric Lovgren –
These strings are amazing. If you’re reading this, you should give them a try.
I play acoustic guitar live about twice per week. Factors most important to me are Sound Quality and Reliability, followed closely by Playability, Comfort, lack of String Squeak, etc. These strings are VERY high quality. I have no doubt I can depend on them. They also SOUND GREAT and are easy to play.
What does “sound great” mean? It means they sound like acoustic strings “should” sound, plus some refinement. If you have a nice guitar, it will sound “great” with these strings. You might prefer a different sound, but to get that, you’d choose a string that claims to produce the tonal variation you’re looking for (darker, brighter, whatever). These strings just amplify the sound of your guitar. So your guitar will sound like the best version of itself.
The strings are also robust. The low E (in my case, .54) is stout. The unwound B and E treble strings also have some heft to them. I haven’t checked, but I think the Stringjoy strings they’re probably at about average or just slightly above average tension for Light strings. This contributes to a bit more volume and richer tone. This might also make them last longer – we’ll see.
I also like the fact that they’re not pre-stretched at the factory. You’ll need to give each string and upward tug along its length after you install them to stretch them. And they will stretch. It’s up to you to decide whether to just give them a gentle stretch or really yank on them, or even stretch them twice. I find this allows ME to set the feel I’m looking for. Over-stretched strings can feel stiff and sound dead. Under-stretched don’t stay in tune. It will be your choice how much you stretch them. Thank you, Stringjoy, for allowing ME to make this decision to get the feel I’m looking for.
The windings use small wire and are night and tight. This leads to a smoother feel on the wound strings and less string squeak. Very nice.
If you’ve been disappointed with mass-produced strings, give these a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with these. And you might just find them to be everything you wanted in a set of strings.

StringJoy has done a lot of advertising as of late but I’ve heard great things about their strings so I thought I would buy in with a couple sets. While installing my strings, I used a stretcher and snapped my G string. I contacted stringjoy, and they immediately sent out a new string to replace my old one, and charged me nothing. Fantastic! Once I had my Taylor 410ce strung, I tried it out, and I was overjoyed at the volume and bright but deep tone. Then I really started playing and quickly realized that pitch bending was a finger killer, as the strings are not even near as slinky as the elixir mediums that Taylor‘s guitars ship with. In order to get any play out of the strings I had to detune my guitar a half step, but the strings were still so tight that I needed to adjust the truss rod, even though the strings are extremely close in spec to the Elixirs. People who have reviewed these strings have said that they are long lasting. I am here to tell you that they do not last any longer than elixirs, and they actually go slower quicker. In addition, the lack of coating on the wound strings leaves them susceptible to tarnishing in pretty short order, whereas the Elixirs looked pretty great for a long time. The strings are noisy when you first install them. If your guitar is amplifier, you will get all kind of string screech that you won’t encounter with the Nanoweb strings and this was for me a major drawback along with playability. Again, they sound fantastic. They’re just way too rigid and noisy and don’t last as long as Elixirs. I may try a set of light strings in the Stringjoy brand just to see if they play heavier, but for the time being, I will be going back to my beloved Elixir Nanowebs.

Very short string life, I personally didn’t like them on my guitars. Really bright right out of the package, within the week they were dull. Maybe an hour of total playing time over that week. Not worth the money in my opinion.
Robert MacLean –
Been a long time user of Elixir strings. Decided to give these strings a try. Day one on my D28 they were incredible, now day 3 they feel like a cheap set of strings. Was expecting more from a $30 set of strings. Save your money

I usually use Daddrrio strings and I have for years and they served me well. I decided to try something different and although they were more expensive I went with the Stringjoys. I am genuinely surprised at how good these sound on my handmade Doolin acoustic. I can’t put my finger on what is exactly different but it is noticeable. They are louder and crisper and the tension is just right for my guitar. I think I am going to try them on some of my other guitars. If they last as well as the Daddrios I may have to switch to Stringjoy.

Very happy with these strings….Been playing since 1972, and like most of you out there, been through my share of strings & guitars. Just to reference what environment I’m judging from, the guitar I put them on is a 1973 Guild D44 which is full bodied (projective) character in tone. The strings compliment it very nicely. This guitar however is tuned a step lower to D, not to traditional E, and they have been holding the tuning perfectly in that realm even with bending during the songs. I’m very pleased with the fantastic tone and well balanced sound. They also have been delivering spectacular results while recording. This particular set is non-coated…… I wasn’t paying close enough attention prior to ordering and that was a surprise to me when they came… My bad definitely as I usually go the coated route; those definitely tend to last longer as you well know. I’ll know soon enough on the life expectancy.

These.strings sound really good on my Dangelico Premiere acoustic guitar

There are many things I love about these strings. They are made in the USA. Each string is in its own sealed plastic pouch which keeps it fresher longer. The sound of these in particular Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge are the sound I love. I play at church and the sound fits in well with the rest of the team. Great strings and a great company.
