This looks beautiful in the garden and is solidly made. There are small holes in the tray so it doesn’t collect water, but if you’re using small bird seed some of it will fall through the holes. The light seems to work well, but don’t fill the canister too full with seed, otherwise it will block the light.

These feeders are amazing. The birds love them during the day. At night I enjoy the lighting, it has a great ambience. I am in Los Angeles in the middle of the city and have goldfinches all day long fighting over the food. Well, they may not be fighting, but there is definitely a lot of chirping. There are other kind of birds coming as well, but I do not know their species. I originally bought the 7.2×7.2, which has a bigger platform, just big enough for an adventurous mourning dove to land, or better said, barely hang on it . But its big wings made such a mess, I bought the 8×8 instead and it was too small for the dove to land. I have had three of these for almost a year. They withstood the raining season without an issue (not that it rains a lot in Los Angeles). There is no cover over them when it rains and the food gets wet even though the little hole drain the water. The food inside the feeder gets moist, which seems normal as the air is humid during rain. I am not sure if they are meant to withhold chlorin, but I used it to disinfect them, and it didn’t seem to hurt the coating. I have them on the north side of the building in a shaded area, they don’t get any direct sun, but the lighting works for several hours during the evening. I have not sat out long enough for the batteries to drain. The company has amazing customer service. I had an issue with the solar panel and they replaced it months after I bought the feeder even though Amazon fulfilled the order. Oh yeah, don’t worry, the dove has another station to eat. We love all animals over here.

I bought this bird feeder mainly for the LED light feature. That part of the feeder is great! The light is attractive when empty, but mostly obscured when full. The feeder tray, however fills up with empty seed husks as the birds eat the good parts. This keeps the uneaten seeds from coming through the bottom opening. I have to dump the empty husks about every 1-2 days.
