I’ve used the cooling gel a few times now for when my lower back aches too much or my forearms. It works really well and gives a nice cooling feeling that lasts for at least and couple hours. Which really helps when you combine it the with cooling/heating pad. I just pop it in the freezer for a bit and put the cooling gel and wait for a while. My muscles tend to feel a lot better when they flare up and I use this.
Tens unit seems good too, it’s the exact same one that I got from my chiropractor just after an auto accident too. So it’s nice to have a backup one to take with me when I travel etc.
The cooling/heating pad also does work pretty well for providing some decent heat when you just want to relax the muscle too. And the strap helps a lot for keeping it in place when put on lower back too. That way you don’t need to prop yourself up in some odd position just to get the feeling from it.
5/5, Definitely recommend as a full setup for taking care of aches and pains.

I loved the idea of this pain relief kit having the TENS unit, roll on gel and a heating pack, so I was happy to try it out. I found everything to work very well for pain management at home. The heating pack is a nice, hands free option, comparable to most heating packs I have tried. The sub zero roll on is helpful to temporarily relieve pain. I can’t smell anything, but I hear it smells good too. I have used a TENS unit at the chiropractor before, so I really loved the idea of doing this from home instead. I put this TENS unit to the test on some severe shoulder pain. It has worked really well to alleviate the pain and significantly increased the range of motion. I am very happy with the results all around and would recommend this kit to others.

I’ve been going to physical therapy for a left shoulder impingement, and I noticed that the exercises and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) treatments that they were giving me could be done at home, so when an opportunity to try out this personal TENS machine came along, I figured – why not? This would totally eradicate my need to pay a physical therapist!
It came with everything that I saw at the physical therapist’s office – the electrodes, the machine itself (a reductive version, of course), the microwaveable heating pad, and even the “icy hot”- like roll on, so I was pretty psyched to be able to have this experience in the comfort of my own home!
I’ve never used a TENS machine before physical therapy, and this is the first one I’ve owned, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I do have some concerns based on my research of this technology.
1. The design seems a bit antiquated – I’ve consistently seen TENS machines that look far more modern than this one. For example: the digital readout is pretty dark, which is a feature I’m used to seeing on 80’s/early 90’s electronics. Most competitors feature prominent backlighting as a basic standard at this point.
2. Lack of power options – this unit runs on 1 9v battery, but – to my surprise – didn’t offer any other source of power. There’s no AC/DC cord or USB charger – just the battery. Again, this – to me – seems rather antiquated because, even I have seen a competitor or two also offering battery powered TENS units, MOST I’ve run across are offering USB powered/rechargeable options.
3. Very confusing instructions – As with anything that has medical implications, I truly believe it is incumbent upon the manufacturer to create an instruction set that’s not only easy to understand, but also ships WITH diagrams. I had to Google to get more information on using this device (pro tip: Google “The Tens Electrode Placement Atlas” for a free PDF with diagrams!).
As it goes, it’s an okay machine, but honestly – this thing could really use a few updates if it wants to remain competitive!

I got this to help relieve some intermittent back spasms I get from time to time. It’s not a cure but it does provide temporary relief to loosen things up so you can do the kind of strengthening exercises that you need to do to actually get through it. I like that the pads are reusable, too. It’s also small so it’s portable. The heating pad can be microwaved or frozen, so that can be useful for all kinds of muscle problems and not just your back.
