Note: If you never changed your transmission fluid on your Nissan Pathfinder (or other Nissan CVT) then you probably want to read this entire review end to endโฆ especially if your car is stuttering or shuttering.
This fluid worked absolute wonders on my 2014 Nissan Pathfinderโฆ It had a bit of a slipping issue, and when I added, this fluid it made a tremendous differenceโฆ But thereโs a catch: you need to add absolutely the correct amount to reduce the slippageโฆ And I highly recommend replacing the (smaller) transmission filter every Every 20,000 to 30,000 miles as well as this fluid.
Important tip::
After changing your transmission fluid (see below) It usually takes about 300 miles for you to fully get this fluid circulating in your transmissionโฆ After that if you are experiencing any slippage, try adding just a little bit moreโฆ Like literally two or 3 ouncesโฆand then running your car for a little bit (25 miles) to see if it helps.
VERY IMPORTANT:
There are plenty of guides on how to determine the correct amount of transmission fluid for your Pathfinder. However, it is still very easy to get this wrong, even if you put in exactly as much as you took out.
In any case, even a few ounces more can make a world of differenceโฆ Just donโt go overboardโฆ.
FIRST: follow the online guides (see youtube) as to the correct โflow rate at the correct tempโ for the transmission fluidโฆ You shouldnโt need anything more than about a pint at most (above and beyond that point)โฆ BUT YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO FOLLOW THOSE VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS FIRST !!!
Just to be clear, this is what I would suggest:
1) Every 20,000 to 30,000 miles replace the smaller transmission filter and drain all of the transmission fluid outโฆ You really only get about half of it out of the transmission as the other half is impossible to drain. If you canโt replace the smaller filter, then at least change the transmission fluid. Obviously changing the filter is best but I understand not everyone has that capability.
2) When you drain the transmission fluid make sure to capture it all so that you add exactly as much back into the transmission as you took outโฆ Either that or watch one of the YouTube videos about checking the temperature of the transmission fluid and using the flow test to determine the correct amountโฆ Itโs not hard and you donโt need any special equipment except a infrared temperature testerโฆ It should get you close enough to the temperature by pointing it at the overflow bolt. (Important tip: when testing the flow, make sure youโre looking at the overflow coming out of the *overflow* boltโฆ NOT the drain bolt (that you drained the transmission from)โฆ There are two bolts under the transmission and it is easy to forget that you need to look at the other one to test the temperature and the overflow !!!
2) Test, drive your pathfinder for a few hundred milesโฆ This allows the transmission fluid to fully mix and get in all the nooks and crannies in your transmission.
3) Which brings us back to the most important part: If youโre still experiencing stutters and shutters then (and only then) add up to 1/4 of a cup of additional transmission fluidโฆ at mostโฆ Then test your transmission again by driving it 20 or 25 milesโฆ.you should see a significant improvementโฆ If you need a little bit more, then add just an ounce or two at a timeโฆ But you should NEVER need to go over a half a pint (which is 8 ounces) in total above what you came out with using the flow test in step 2โฆ
Note: Chances are, if youโre still having stuttering after adding 8 ounces to your transmission (after the flow test) then your transmission is probably too far gone to correct it by adjusting the fluid levelโฆ Either that or you did the flow test completely wrongโฆ So make sure to follow the video closely when youโre doing step two to make sure that itโs not the case.
Finally, itโs worth mentioning if you that if your transmission fluid has never been changed the way it was supposed to (meaning every 20,000 or 30,000 miles) and youโre at something like 100,000 miles then you might want to do step two twiceโฆ with running the car, at least 200 miles in betweenโฆ. This will guarantee that you get most of the transmission fluid out of the transmissionโฆ Just make sure to drive the car a couple hundred miles in between doing this twiceโฆ since you need to mix the transmission fluid thoroughly. The second time you do this you will have effectively replaced 75% of the transmission fluid.
Also, it is very important to totally drain and flush your RADIATOR and FILL with new coolant/water mix at the same time since the transmission fluid is cooled via the radiatorโฆ REASON: The biggest problem with these cars is that the transmission fluid gets overly hot and loses its viscosity overtime so by changing the radiator fluid, you are increasing the lifespan of the transmission fluid as wellโฆ Just make sure to change the transmission fluid (and radiator fluid) every 20,000 to 30,000 miles going forward especially if you were having shuttering previously.
The above may just save you from having to spend $4000 on a new transmissionโฆ And even if you do have to do that remember you still need to change the transmission fluid and radiator fluid every 20,000 to 30,000 miles to prevent this from happening again.

On my 2010 Outback at 203,000 miles, I started experiencing a slip and shudder while accelerating. I pulled the pan and found a very small amount of metal fuzz on the pan magnet. I changed to this fluid and it solved the problem. About 5K later I had a solenoid issue, which was electrical, and took the pan down again to do the replacement, which was not caused by the fluid. What impressed me was how clean it was and no fuzz at all. Added new fluid again to make sure that most of the original fluid was out, as the torque converter always holds a couple of quarts that won’t drain. Dealer said never to change the fluid, but I highly recommend changing the fluid after 150,000. Wish I had done this sooner.
