D Weiss –
I use this for a planted aquarium the first tank came shattered Amazon immediately replaced it with a new one for free. Over all it has worked great for me no leaks and the hood works well great for a starter tank
Cody Garcia –
The media could not be loaded.
Looking nice is not very big and it’s very quiet when I add a lot of water but the filter doesn’t work very good other side of my filter is leaking water too not sure why
Ann –
The aquarium is decent enough, but a product is only as good as the weakest link.
In this case, their filter/pump is JUNK. First it got very loud and then it completely stopped working.
2 dead fish and a crying daughter later I then had to empty this monstrosity and send it back for a refund… on the tank… I’m still out my time and the money for the fish and the back and forth to the aquarium store because the water was never okay thanks to the faulty pump.
I know things happen… just don’t want it to happen to you!
amita patel –
The filter it comes with doesn’t have a flow rate adjuster so it literally just blows my poor betta around. It’s also really loud. Make sure you fill it up with water before you run it. The instructions didn’t tell me to do that and it was making an awful noise.

I set up a planted/dirted tank in this. I use the included Hang on back filter part of the time and I also mostly rely on a different sponge filter.
The tank is great. The light strip for me in the 29 gallon tank was a single and solid hard plastic strip and clips into the lid. It’s fantastic. It does have a rocker switch to turn it on and off but I just hooked it up to a wifi plug so I could set a schedule.
The lid is cheap plastic like others have said but it works just fine. It’s not like you’ve got fish dancing on top of it. It’s not going to break
The filter for me is fairly quiet. You can hear the impeller if you listen for it but the sound of the waterfall, even when it’s just a short fall, drowns that out for me.
I can’t think of anything negative to say about this tank. It brough some great looking fish into my home and I’m exited to see what else I can add
favid –
Set up was easy, except led light is not staying on place so we have to use double sided tape to hold inside
Big Will –
The tank is good enough quality. Instructions aren’t super clear. The pump is definitely not whisper quiet. I makes a fairly loud humming noise in the background that is really annoying.
favid –
The tank was clean and the lights are extremely bright It didn’t have no leakage of any sort and the water flow is constant. It’s very sturdy. Will buy again !
Big Will –
The tank itself is fine, no noted flaws. It was packed extremely well in the box; it would take an insane amount of abuse to damage it in its shipping box.
It comes with a Tetra Power Filter 30. It looked fine, but I had already planned on using an in-tank sponge filter, so I can’t evaluate the filter.
The heater…is it submersible or not? No instructions or information on it. It is adjustable, but the markings are just lines around the adjustable knob. No actual temperature notations. If I can’t find if this one is submersible or not, I’ll have to buy one that I know is safe to use submersed. I’ve already searched the internet and have not been able to find anything on this heater.
The lights…first off, they are different than what is shown in the picture on Amazon. I received an LED light stick. It seems fine as far as putting out a strong light, The problem is the mounting clips. The two for the light bar, holds the bar well enough, but they clip into the little lip of the top edge of the aquarium. Rather difficult to attach. Be careful, if you slightly brush the light bar, the clips come off and down goes your light bar in the water. I would strongly recommend you remove the light bar/clamps prior to adding any substrate or putting in plants. The little clamps to hold the wire from the light has the same problem, they clip to the little lip on the top edge. I used black electrical tape to try and hold them in place better. I’ll do the same with the light bar clips once I am completely finished with set-up.
The aquarium hood…very, very cheaply made. Chinese manufacturing at its finest. The instructions could certainly be better, if nothing else, the pictures could show more detail. But all in all, it’s pretty easy to install. The problem is that due to the light bar and wire clips, it will not close. The space in the front is anywhere from 1/2″ to a 1/4″. Right now, I have black electrical tape on the sides, the back and front to hold it closed. I’m hoping with time the heat will allow it to adjust and close properly. In the end, I’m pretty sure I will end up buying a higher quality aquarium hood.
And lastly, the thermometer. Not a real thermometer, one of those tape thermometers that you stick to the outside of the tank. My experience has found that these are notoriously inaccurate. Luckily, I had a spare in-tank actual thermometer that I’m using.
My overall recommendation is this: If you are buying a starter aquarium kit for a kid, that you suspect will eventually lose interest, or it’s a gift for someone not seriously into aquariums but wanted one anyway. This is a pretty good deal. The important parts are included, and each problem has a work around if you’re not that picky. On the other hand, if you are someone who is more serious about the hobby, don’t waste your time on this. The tank is the only part that is good, and you can buy other quality 29-gallon tanks for much lower prices. The rest of the required items, you can buy exactly what you want and probably it will be much higher quality, and the total cost shouldn’t be much more than the total price for this kit. I bought this kit because I wanted a second tank, but didn’t have the time to do all the research into some of the newer products, mistake on my part. Since hindsight is 20/20, I can now say I would not purchase this aquarium kit again.

Perfect aquarium! Complete with lid, cover with LED light, filter and heater. Even a net and fish food. It’s a great size and a good price. Very happy with it!
