There are two versions of the Tom Ford Mason 0445. One has glossy black plastic and is not polarized; the other (which is the one that I bought), is matte black plastic and is polarized. If polarization is important to you I would recommend the Matte version. I will be removing the lenses and replacing them with prescription lenses, so it is not a selling point to me. I must say though that the more expensive Matte version of these sunglasses looks much cheaper than the gloss black. It feels like something you would pick up at Walmart for 20 bucks. So there you have it; your call.

OK writing this review because I’m sure there are others that are reticent to buy sunglasses online for fear of getting fake merch. I decided to jump off the deep end with these and from what I can tell, these are legit, and I got a deal. Did all the checks based on all of the videos and posts online:
• Box and all associated paperwork included • info on inside of temples looks legit • stickers on box and paperwork list the real manufacturer: Marcolin S.P.A. • serial # on the sticker on the box matches the one on the Tom Ford website • numbers etched into the inside of the end of the left temple • did the polarized lens test with my computer & these passed • Tom Ford name on top left corner of left lense looks legit – right font, textured but doesn’t scratch off, etc.
Net, net I think these are the real deal, they look great, and I’m totally happy cuz there’s no way I was going to pay the $455 retail on these!
