I purchased two sizes of this shelving: One of the 27.4 x 11.6 x 60 inch and two of the 35.5 x 16 x 71 inch.
Though they are all very low quality, the 60-inch is far superior to the 71-inch version. The 60-inch assembly was fairly easy, and the picture in the ad is accurate as to how it is put together. I’m using this product in my home office to store some office supplies. I think it will be fine for that purpose, and it would probably function well in a craft room or maybe a kitchen. It really is a bit misleading, though, to call what I have received “Garage Shelving.” I really would have given this one three stars, but, apparently because I purchased all of the shelving at the same time, I couldn’t separate the ratings.
The 71-inch version is a totally different story, though, and even giving one star is too high. I am very adept at assembling products. I have built large desks and shelves and even watched a video and replaced the solenoid for the ice maker in my refrigerator. I have no problem following instructions. The 71-inch version of these shelves is a totally different design than the 60-inch version. If I could think of a word with a connotation worse than “worthless,” that’s what these shelves would be.
Though the picture in the ad makes it look as though putting these together would be a breeze, that is so misleading. I’m really just shocked there aren’t more reviews regarding this issue and maybe I just didn’t see them. The metal pieces are so thin and flimsy, and the assembly procedure is an engineering disgrace. I have spent close to 12 hours working on the two 71-inch shelves. I have one fully assembled, and I’m about halfway through the second one. I just literally had to stop and write this review simply as a public service announcement to hopefully help someone who may be thinking of purchasing this 71-inch shelving with the assembly involving the metal tabs and slits for the tabs to fit through. This doesn’t work like the pictures show, and it takes numerous, repeated attempts to tap the two tabs through the two slits simultaneously while making sure one of the tabs doesn’t come out on the wrong side of the slit. I know it’s hard to picture what I’m describing, so just trust me that you don’t want to experience it. This whole experience has made me sin.
I will say that I did not contact the seller about this issue because, frankly, it would be more trouble than it’s worth to disassemble and re-box the 50 pieces each on these shelves to try to send them back. I also certainly don’t want a replacement, so there was just no point.

I wanted to clear up about a few things here. Look at the picture that is advertised. For me we purchased the Black, 35.5 x 16 x 71 Inch and it does look like the picture displayed. However some reviewers posted pics of some previous shelving that uses different latching capability. What im saying is look closely at the product picture not the reviewer pictures. On to the review. Just 4 years ago you could get the heavy duty shelving (not this one) for the same price, but now with inflation we want the same price but we are getting lower quality products. So how does this unit hold up? There is no doubt the metal is thin, but like anything if you have enough of it in the right place it will hold. Assembly was not great but not terrible. What i mean is the directions are weak and if you think you can use the pictures in the instructions to count notch spaces to create equally spaced shelving you will be mistaken. So measure out where you want your shelves beforehand and mark them. Always use a rubber mallet and only hit on the ends not the middle (you can thank me later). Lining up the little metal grooves and tapping them in was mixed results. Some went in ok, others went in and one pin would stick out (not a show stopper just a result of cheaper quality), and no im not a novice as I have built about 15 of these type of shelves. The plywood shelves are THIN, over the years they have gotten thinner and I will say this is as thin as I have ever seen them. However they will work, it is just a weight issue. On a good note, all of the pieces were there. Free standing the unit is a light weight shelving system. It says each shelf is rated for over 350ish pounds; Um NO. I would not try that weight. To do that it would have to be exactly distributed over the shelf with additional support like in a bin. I would say throwing 150ish pounds on there is no problem. Get some 12 gallon bins and throw them in there, you will be happy. Bottom line is if you need light weight shelving then this is fine. If you need to put on real weight like offset 200+ pounds you should pass on this and get heavy duty shelving. All in all this is for a bunch of 12 gallon bins for the basement filled with clothes, small products and the unit hold just fine.

These are excellent shelves! They arrived way sooner then expected, well packaged, easy to assemble, even came with a pair of gloves to protect your hands. Not a heavy duty shelving unit but perfect for smaller lighter items they have reinforced under shelf brackets and outside corner posts where the bottom and top section join together. Can be customized to suit various height objects and fit great into smaller spaces where larger units can’t. Highly recommend and will purchase again in the future if needed.

Likes – Size: It was very hard to find one in 12″ depth. This was one of the choices available – Looks decent when assembled – Light weight
Dislikes – The instruction manual needs a lot of improvement. It is hard to make out the process from the tiny images – Expect to get cut your hands at least once despite the gloves that are provided. A lot of sharp edges – Strong enough but not super strong shelves.

Top rack holds my entire network (router, switches, NAS, and misc devices) and has no issue with stability. Putting it together was a breeze too. The MDF slabs are a bit thin, but if they can hold a 48 port HP ProCruve POE switch, then they’re good in my book!
The rest of the racks hold misc IT gear, mostly cables and boxes I can’t toss out yet. Highly recommended and I’m strongly considering buying another for the garage!
