I had problems with Windows 11 and this wifi adapter. The drivers that windows installs are not totally correct. Frequent disconnects left me thinking I had a bad adapter or low signal from the location. It turns out I installed the driver from the TP-Link website and it works great!

This thing works like a dream but only when it works. I have no idea if the problem lies in my wifi or the TP link. The wifi at this new house is shotty to say the least so anything was better than nothing. Had a solid 0.1 download 0 upload, Now sit at a 90 upload 98 download on a good day. It did not work immediately on plug in, I needed to restart my computer a few times and update and mess with some settings on my PC. Took a day or so to get working but I wasn’t trying all that hard or for very long to be fair. Rarely when I turn on my computer it does not work, but I found out turning off Wifi 1 and switching to Wifi 2 fixes it. Sometimes it needs to be switched back and forth to work. Overall I’m very happy with the product and do recommend it.

Very pleased with the hardware and wifi reception. I had major problems with stability (system hanging, losing connection to 5GHz networks) using the TP-Link driver (including the latest download from the TP-Link website) in my Win10 PC accessing 5GHz networks (seemed stable on 2.4GHz networks). Finally uninstalled the TP-Link driver and just used the Microsoft driver – working fine on 2.4 and 5.0 networks. After doing some research, it seemed many others have seen the same type of problems. There are other fixes but this was the easiest for me. Note, I checked the TP-Link web site/FAQs but did not reach out directly to TP-Link for help, so my score for tech support is based on info on their web site.

Me gusto, es muy potente, recibe y te otorga la velocidad como a un 90% de la emisión original del modem considerando 3 paredes de por medio. Es muy bueno, lo volvería a comprar..

The router is efficient and easy to set up. It works well for my office which is at least 50 feet away through walls. Havent had issues with router only with Spectrum.

The TP-Link USB WiFi Adapter (Archer T4U Plus) has been a game-changer for my desktop PC. With AC1300Mbps dual-band capability and a 5dBi high-gain antenna, it provides a substantial boost to my wireless network speed and stability.

Installation was a breeze, and it seamlessly supports various operating systems, including Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7 and Mac OS 10.9-10.15. The compact design and adjustable antenna make it a practical and unobtrusive addition to my setup.

The Archer T4U Plus has proven to be a reliable solution, eliminating dead zones and ensuring a consistent, high-speed connection. If you’re looking to upgrade your desktop’s wireless capabilities, this TP-Link adapter is a solid choice. Highly recommended for its performance and compatibility.

After reading many negative reviews I decided to try this anyway, because some people that write bad reviews just have other problems unrelated to the product.

It worked immediately after plugging it in to Windows 10, but only connected at 2.4GHz at first. I use the same SSID for both bands, so the device can choose which band to use. I did see nearby 5GHz access points, so 5GHz was functional. I checked the advanced properties and didn’t see a way to force 2.4/5 GHz operation. At this point I took the CD that came with it and tossed it aside and then download the latest driver on https://www.tp-link.com/us/. There are two Win 10 drivers listed with the newest driver nearest the top of the list. The driver installed with no problems and the adapter connected to 5Ghz just fine after updating.

My only real complaint is that the adapter base is not weighted enough. The USB cord is very nice, heavy gauge wire and unless you tweak it just right the adapter will tip in whatever direction the cord pulls it. I’m tempted to glue a magnet to the bottom or try to add weight somehow but I don’t want to interfere with the WiFi signals. Some of that blue adhesive putty you use to hang posters or secure knickknacks to your shelves would work to keep it secure too.

The speed was many many times better than it was with my previous adapter which was a tplink n300, I went from about 20mbps to 330mbps. It claims to support 867mbps on 5GHz, but that is probably only under ideal conditions and very short range. The number of nearby networks also increased which tells me the range is much better than it was with the little dongle type adapter.

Overall, for the price, this is a great adapter. I would buy it again.

Oh and it doesn’t claim to support Linux, although that doesn’t always mean a product won’t work on Linux either now or in the future. I didn’t have a chance to test it with Linux yet so I can’t say for sure.

A bit of context: This specific product is the Archer T4U Plus *v1*, the “v1” bit being something that is left out for some reason in the description and title of this product. I didn’t realize this is technically outdated by quite a while even around the time I purchased it. If you want something more up-to-date, do not purchase this product.
I bought this back in June 2022 and it worked fine for about a year. No problems to report until about fall of 2023, which is when the adapter started acting up. I have fiber-optic internet and haven’t had an issue with the provider and trialed out different adapters, so I know it is this adapter specifically that is acting up.
At first the adapter would drop the connection outright and then reconnect automatically, repeat every once in a great while, say a month or so. However, since around fall of last year, it has decided not to work upon starting the computer. What it would do is drop the connection, effectively restart itself, reconnect without service, then drop and restart again, rinse & repeat until I turn off the adapter itself. It’s around a 1/5 chance the adapter decides to run through that cycle. HOWEVER, much more recently, it would just outright fail to provide service. It would connect to the network, yet say it has no Internet despite all of my other devices saying they have service. I did check for newer drivers, but the website lists the newest one was released in 2020, 2021, so it’s definitely been a while since then.
I’m a person who wants reliable devices that actually last a good while, but I didn’t realize this was Chinesium garbage made in Vietnam (though it wouldn’t have made a difference since it was made out of Chinesium) until it started pulling this whole song-and-dance routine. I even left it a rather glowing review initially, but decided to take that down since it became a piece of garbage not too long after releasing that review and just decided to take it down since it no longer reflected my views on this product. After my experience with it, I don’t believe I will be purchasing another TP-Link product again.

This product served its purpose. I am getting a slightly better coverage than the laptop WIFI and an old USB Wifi Adapter. Speeds has almost doubled from the 20 Mbps to 50+ when I use a speed test website to check the improved speed.
