I went from McDonald’s to this to improve my quality of my Internet connection and it has paid for it itself over and over again for remote working. It is high-quality and plug and play.

When I connected it through a USB 3.0 port (like the manual suggests) this thing was giving me major issues by disconnecting every 3 minutes. Once I plugged it into a regular USB port it works impressively for the price. Speed might be impacted by this, but I’m satisfied with the performance. Just thought I’d put that out there as a public service announcement.

Update: I connected it to another USB 3.0 port in the back of the computer and it’s now working flawlessly. Might be something wrong with the first port I tried which is in the front of the computer.

Update: the problem turned out to be on the ASUS Router. Had to disable “explicit beaming “ – problem seems to be this device (and others like it) with its external antennas tries to beam signals to the router. One too many of these clients on the high end gaming AX11000 and the router WiFi starts to drop out.
    Original review:
Out of the box, it worked well for 6 months. My mini computer has built in WiFi but the distance to the router is far, and this tp link had much better antenna, speed was 5x faster. After 6 months the connection became unreliable- kept dropping. Went back to the built in WiFi adapter and that is rock solid although slower. Moved the TP link to another computer, same problem- unreliable.

My default WiFi adapter had always given me problems, so I decided to get this stronger adapter. Needless to say it did the job.

I did have some troubles getting it to say on, for some reason the USB port was sleeping on the power and turning off the network connected, I also had to adjust some setting on the network settings to get it to connect properly.

Connects well and hasn’t gone choppy on me at all yet! I will say sometimes it’s a little slow to waking up and turning on when the computer is being turned on.

I have a detached garage that gets fed wifi from the house. Signal can be weak at times. I stream videos from youtube for repairs I do around the shop. I used this plugged into a mini PC. I used a USB3 extension to allow me to mount the antenna high up on my wall and pointo it at my house wifi unit. I get excellent results using this. I went in the PC setup and forced it to use 2G signal instead of 5G. Its a stronger signal and plenty of bandwidth. I can easily stream youtube and xfinnity video to my wall mounted 4K monitor.

I purchased the TP-Link AC600 USB WiFi Adapter with high hopes, given its promising specifications and positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here are some critical points detailing why this product did not meet my expectations:

    – Random Disconnections
One of the most frustrating aspects of using the TP-Link AC600 adapter is its tendency to disconnect randomly. In the middle of important tasks or during streaming, the connection would drop without any warning. This issue has occurred so frequently that it has become a significant disruption to my daily activities. Despite being seated relatively close to the router, the adapter fails to maintain a stable connection, which defeats the purpose of having a WiFi adapter in the first place.

    – Slow Speeds
Even when the adapter manages to stay connected, the internet speeds are disappointingly slow. I conducted multiple speed tests, and the results consistently showed much lower speeds compared to what I usually get with my other devices on the same network. This speed degradation is evident in simple browsing tasks and becomes particularly noticeable during file downloads or video streaming, where buffering becomes a regular annoyance.

    Performance Issues When Connected
On the rare occasions when the TP-Link AC600 maintains a connection, it still does not perform as expected. Websites load sluggishly, and online applications often lag or time out. This inconsistency renders the adapter unreliable for both work and leisure activities. It’s frustrating to have a product that, even when technically connected, does not deliver the performance it promises.

    – Configuration Woes
I spent hours trying to configure the adapter, hoping to resolve the connectivity and speed issues. I updated drivers, tweaked settings, and even reached out to TP-Link’s customer support for assistance. Despite all these efforts, the performance did not improve. The troubleshooting process was time-consuming and ultimately futile, adding to my frustration and disappointment with the product.

    – Waste of Money
Given all these issues, I regret purchasing the TP-Link AC600 USB WiFi Adapter. The time and effort invested in trying to make it work, combined with its subpar performance, make it a poor investment. I had hoped for a reliable solution to enhance my WiFi connectivity, but instead, I ended up with a device that consistently underperforms and adds unnecessary hassle to my daily routine.

    – Conclusion
In conclusion, the TP-Link AC600 USB WiFi Adapter has been a significant disappointment. Its frequent disconnections, slow speeds, unreliable performance, and challenging configuration process make it an impractical choice for anyone seeking a dependable WiFi solution. I strongly advise against purchasing this product as it ultimately feels like a waste of money and time.

This is good adapter. I originally bought it to use on my older desktop system with Windows 7 in it. It gave me a very hard time to setup and I finally gave up. Description says it will work with Windows 7 but it did not work for me. I tried installing drivers, windows update and all kinds of things, but no luck.

However, I eventually upgraded to Windows 10 and it got installed effortlessly and works perfect. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. But if you have latest Windows OS, you will have no problem at all.

At first I had a problem with the installation because it wouldn’t recognise it on the USB connector. I would make everybody aware that it is only suitable for USB3. It wouldn’t run correctly on USB2 for me. After this the Wi-Fi Adaptor was an easy plug and play on Windows 10. The drivers installed automatically from the moment it was plugged in. I had been having problems with with my Wi-Fi signal and this has blown all expectations away. I have gone from an average of 35Mbps to an average of 275Mbps. It is a really incredible difference. Well worth the money and simple to install. Just remember to use a USB3 slot from your motherboard.
