PorkPieHat –
I had so much unexpected fun with my Crosman C31 CO2-powered BB gun that I thought I would try this one out. I’m just a can plinker/target shooter, and I don’t expect tremendous accuracy. I’m just having some fun.
This gun looks great, feels solid, and I added a few things to make it a Real Bad Boy!
I added (all sold on Amazon):
– a Weaver rail on top (modified by taking 1/8″ off of the fixed feet) [“Scope Rail Mount for MP5 MK5 M5 style guns NCStar”]
– a UTG/Leapers 1X30 red/green dot scope on that rail [“Leapers Golden Image 30mm Red/Green Dot Sight, Integral Weaver Mount (SCP-RD40RGW)”]
– another rail mount below the barrel – I used flat black electrical tape to stabilize the plastic overlay on the barrel which is somewhat loose. I also needed to buy four hex screws that were 1/4″ longer. [“Weaver Rail Barrel Mount for Laser Sight, Flashlight, and Bipod”]
– a laser sight on that mount [“NcStar Red Laser Sight with Weaver Mount/Black (APRLS)”]
I also purchased this bag/case [“UTG Gun Case, Dual Storage, Adjustable Shoulder Strap”] which is a perfect fit with the magazine removed.
I have two minor complaints:
1) It would be nice to have an end cap to replace the folding stock. These are available in the U.K. but not in America.
2) I really wish I could get an extra magazine since one CO2 cartridge begins to lose power by the end of the second magazine. These are also not available in America (and like many other folks, I’ve tried without success to find one).
However, you can load the magazine pretty quickly with this trick: put your BBs in a Tupperware-like container. I use a 3″X5″ plastic container that originally had lunchmeat. Just dribble the BBs in, and let extra ones fall back into the container. I can load the magazine in about 20 seconds.
HTH, and have fun!

I’ve had this thing for about a month now and I really grown to hate it The first one sent to me was a dud. The the plastic pieces fall off in chunks CO2 cartridge tab broke off in my hands the firs the site a terrible I just can’t say enough bad things about it I’m really bummed that I purchased this thingt time I tried to twist it. Then it wouldn’t buteven turn with plyers so I returned it. The return jprocess could not have just been easier. Amazon sent out the new one even before UPS picked up the broken one. Now that’s what I call great customer service.
The gun shoots well although the sights are quite off. It doesn’t have quite as much power as I wish it had, but still it is pretty darn fun to use, and the folding stock is just plain cool.
I’ve had no issues whatsoever with this second item and I’ve probably shot it about 250 times in the last two days. It is Los of fun, it looks great and will impress your friends.

This has definitely been the highest quality BB gun I have ever bought. I wasn’t expecting it to be mostly metal and the weight feels nice to hold. The grip is plastic but it’s definitely not poor quality, it’s also removable if you want to mess around with it. The muzzle is also removable and it seems like it would be fairly easy to customize.

The HK (Heckler and Koch) MP5K PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) is a variant of the MP5K introduced in 1991. It is equipped with a side-folding butt stock, a threaded three-lug barrel for attaching suppressors, and is typically fitted with the ambidextrous MP5N trigger group. The side-folding butt stock can be fitted onto any MP5K with no modification to the weapon itself. The PDW has seen only limited usage – mostly with Special Ops groups, aircraft crews, and tank crews. It is very popular with U.S. Special Operations forces who see it as a compromise between a pistol and a full-sized submachine gun.
The HK MP5K PDW by Umarex is a product of excellence. I was very impressed with the high quality and pleasing aesthetics of this beautiful crafted and realistic semi-auto BB gun. The gun itself is surprisingly heavy for its size. Very solidly built with no creaks or shimmies. To insert the 12-gram CO2 cartridge you first need to remove the two rear body pins. I did this by pushing the retaining loops into each pin and pushing it through the other side. After you take the pins out, remove the rear stock and insert the CO2. Replace the rear plate on the gun, reinsert the pins, and tighten the CO2 cartridge tab to hear the gun pressurize. The stock folds by lifting the front upwards at the hinge and allowing it to fold to the right and I love how it locks firmly in place in the extended position.
The selector switch on this gun moves smoothly between its settings with a solid click at each stop. Click it from Safe to Fire and let out a few shots. I noticed that this gun recoils like the real firearm and has a mildly firm trigger pull that isn’t overly heavy or light, it is just right. Trigger response is good and shots were right on target from the start. The magazine is metal that is very solid to the touch and holds 40 steel BBs. The only thing I didn’t like about this gun is that it does not have standard rear sights. Instead of four different sized holes in the drum there are four different sizes of rectangular slits cut into the drum. This works fine for CQB (close quarters battle) but long range accuracy suffers. Then again this gun is an MP5K so if you’re looking for long range accuracy you’re on the wrong horse!
The gun does have very nice externals. From the oversized cocking handle to the nicely textured stock, it feels great. The feel of the metal parts is solid, but the appearance is not as good. The metal parts are shinier than the rest of the gun, but that can be remedied by some Krylon ultra flat black spray paint. The magazine release is plastic but feels very sturdy. The plastic on the lower receiver, foregrip, and stock are nicely textured and are a satin black color. The upper receiver is a smooth plastic, but feels sturdy, and is the same color as the lower plastic. It appears that Umarex used a thick, high-quality plastic on this gun. The foregrip feels sturdy with just a slight wobble. The pistol grip is comfortable, nicely textured, and easy to hold on to. I would have no problem going on patrol carrying this gun, but be careful displaying this gun in public it looks totally realistic. Overall this is a well built product that will hold up well for years to come. Buy it!

I used a laser bore scope to set the site, installed the mag full of bb’s, then pierced the cartridge and took aim. I pulled that trigger over and over again and just kept sending them down into the target, and once the mag was empty it stopped just like a real gun. This thing was fun! I did this several times and just felt the stress melt away as I unloaded each magazine over and over again. It looks very real, it feels real…it’s not all plastic and cheap, and it fires really well. You will not regret buying this!
