It took me a solid hour to get this soundbar working roughly the way I want. Somehow it seems to have broken the feature where my Apple TV turns on the Vizio TV when I use the Apple Remote.
To get the Apple Remote to control the audio volume, you have to touch a bunch of menus. There’s a setting in the Apple TV setup. Then you have to enable CEC on the TV, which is not mentioned in the Quick Start guide, other than an oblique reference to it (it says you need CEC for Dolby Atmos).
To get sound to come out the soundbar, rather than the TV speakers, I had to enable “Audio System Control”. I figured this out by playing around with the TV settings menu.
Finally, my worst complaint:
On the product page the description says this: “VIZIO 5.1 Soundbar SE, Wireless Subwoofer, Surround Sound w/Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Bluetooth – SV510X-0806 (New, 2024 Model)”
Well, I guess the subwoofer is wireless in its connection to the main bar, but there are wires from it to the satellite surround speakers. There is really no way for me to connect things up without wires on top of the carpet in my living room. Not ideal. I understand the subwoofer has to have a power cord (probably too much consumption for a reasonable battery), but I thought it would be easier to configure this system without messy wires.

I paired this soundbar with my LG B2 OLED Tv, and it works perfectly. I never owned a sound system before this one, and the bass and sound quality that come from this truly surprised me. It is great to hear movies that utilize the 5.1 system and gives you that theater feeling. The only thing that I dislike about this product is that there is no control for it and that sometimes if you were to disconnect the rear speakers for whatever reason, they will sometime not be paired with the sound bar and just not work. The only way I figured out how to get the rear speakers to work again is by disconnecting both rear speakers and sound bar, even the earc cable, and restarting my TV. Other than that this system works perfectly and is nice addition to your TV.

5.1 sound bar for $230? For the price, this package offers a lot and it is definitely a great package for someone who is thinking about getting into the world of soundbar system! Setting up the system was a breeze but downloading app is something I personally don’t like. Even though it offers 5.1 surrounded all speakers are relatively small so it does not take a lot of spaces.
This is definitely a great set for a starter and you won’t regret it!

initially bought the V51x-J6 which is recommended by amazon, I tried that one and realized this model existed which was released this year vs the previously older model. This one has noticibly better convenience features, I wish it still had a remote but the app works fine outside of it taking a moment to connect each time.
Both models are great, the subwoofer will kick you harder than you thought, I prefer the Direct EQ with boosted surround channels but you can change whatever youd like from the app. THERE IS NO PAIRING PROCESS it just connects to the sub with surround speakers and works.
Looking forward to seeing how it works over time but for 230 dollars it works great and i couldnt recommend it more as a budget 5.1 system.

For a $230 sound bar, this package is seriously competitive. It’s compact but gets plenty loud for my large living room. Setup is as simple as plugging in an eARC HDMI cable to your compatible TV, and then it works. I was initially skeptical of not including a remote in favor of a phone app, but was pleasantly surprised when the app paired straight away and gave me access to a huge amount of intuitive adjustments. And it didn’t even make me create an account! For those not wanting to use the app, the sound bar came set up pretty neutrally from the box, and my TV remote controlled it with no issues. So realistically, you would never even need to download it.
The Atmos is pretty much unnoticeable, as expected from a speaker with no dedicated height speakers, but overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

This I found out about after hooking up my new sound bar. After watching hours and hours of how to fix my problem articles I found a site that suggested to check if there was any updates for my tv, JVC. The next morning I was surprised to see that a new update had loaded. Still no CEC. Back to my search, solution, unplug the TV and let it boot up with the new update, Wala, CEC now a choice. I hope this helps someone.
PS this unit needs CEC to operate.
