This is a great television for the price! Packaged neatly in the box, there is a protective piece of cushioned cardboard taped over the screen, and the tv itself is inside a large bag you use to lift it out of the box safely. Once you attach the legs (or attach it to wall mount), the startup guide is quick and painless. Just connect the television to your WiFi, and the startup guide walks you through everything from registering your device to activate the warranty, to setting up and logging into your streaming apps and more.

The sound quality is decent, however I do recommend purchasing a sound bar or other sound system as the TV doesn’t have great bass in its speakers, so watching movies can sound a little lacking at first. I bought a sound bar that is able to connect via the Optical chord, or Bluetooth. I decided to connect via bluetooth, and the TV handled that flawlessly. It also works with any blutooth headphones for listening privately if, for instance, someone is sleeping and you’d like to listen without waking them.

Picture quality is great, with numerous screen profiles you can choose from, or you can calibrate it yourself to your own specifications.

Overall, I’m VERY happy with the product. Highly recommend.

Very intuitive and great TV. I bought a Vizio soundbar with it and I am such a fan. I used an apple TV with my last TV and had three remotes, this TV is ONE remote. It works with the Apple TV too. I love it. Great value, wonderful picture. I hope it lasts for a long time.

So far, so good. Excellent picture and all the features you would expect. Broadcast TV tuner works well. All local channels are rock-solid.

I bought this Vizio TV specifically for the analog stereo audio output. That feature, once common, has all but disappeared from the major manufacturers in recent years. The audio output can be configured as line-level or volume-controlled. I split the output to a headphone jack (general viewing w/volume control) and the stereo receiver and speakers (line level for movies and concert DVDs). Works great!

The supplied remote is the bare minimum they can get away with. Yes, it works, BUT… I watch a lot of OTA broadcast TV. The supplied remote does not have a numeric keypad for selecting channels directly. No bueno! Yes, you can select channels with the navigation keys, but it’s a very cumbersome process. But not to worry! Vizio has produced several full-feature remotes that will work with this TV. I bought the XRT136 online, and it works perfectly right out of the box. Just be careful not to press the WatchFree key. That will put the TV into a weird state that can only be fixed with a full factory reset. Ask me how I know.

I don’t use any Smart TV features, so I cannot comment on that. If this TV performs as-is for several years, I will be a happy camper.

This tv is more of a pain then it should be. When it’s not causing problems, it’s an easy 3 stars. When the tv works, it’s fine. Not great. Just fine. The picture looks good enough and it has most of the apps I need (doesn’t have xfinity streaming or most sports apps).

However, there has been a host of problems ever since I bought this. There are constant updates which change the layout of the Home Screen every few months, meaning I have to go back and search for apps I regularly use (Netflix, Hulu etc). Other times apps will just crash or freeze or not load at all and need to be deleted then reinstalled and resigned in.

For awhile the sound kept messing up until I found a solution online to change a bunch of “advanced settings”. Why this is not included in the manual or better yet have the default setting actually work is beyond me. Likewise I had to calibrate the HDR setting because this thing will randomly increase the backlight and burn your eyes out if not properly set.

But the biggest pain is that sometimes the tv will flat out not work. Sometimes it won’t turn on at all, other times you can see the backlight come on but there’s just a blank/black screen or one of the inputs won’t work but everything else will. Or it will just crash. At least once a month, I have to do a manual reset of unplugging the tv then holding down the power button on the tv to clear its cache. This is a pain because A) the power button is on the back of this big tv making it hard to reach especially if it’s on the wall and B) the outlet is also hard to get to.

Now sure you could say that’s my fault for having the tv on the wall and the outlet not easily accessible, but come on. A TV should not have these kind of problems. You should just be able to plug it in once and never have to worry about it. No other tv have I ever had to manual restart, especially this frequently. Do yourself a favor and go buy literally any other brand other than Vizio.

This is my 2nd Vizio, first was bought in 2008 and worked great! Decided to finally cut the cable cord and needed a SMART TV, and stayed with Vizio. Easy to set up, excellent picture quality. remote is not as easy to use as my original, but I’ll get used to it. The only disappointment is in the sound quality. I guess it is because of the placement of the speakers now in the newer models. Quality not as good as in my original. Still, great value for $$. Am going to order the sound bar and that should give me what I’m looking for. Will continue to recommend Sony products!

I’ve had Vizio for years, but had to replace the ones the ex kept in the divorce. True, there may be better quality sets out there, but these are perfectly adequate and then some. Sharp picture, bright vivid colors, Dolby Vision equipped.

Great 50” TV and a great sale price! Picture and volume are great and fits perfectly in bedroom! I am not crazy about the menu design but still a great television!

I don’t watch a lot of TV so maybe I can’t give the best critical review. However I think the picture is great. The remote is simple and very intuitive to use. There is also an app for using your phone as a remote. I like that as well though I only messed with it a couple times after getting the TV set up. The initial set up/product registration was a bit of a hassle as you could not just go through the steps programmed into the TV.
