It’s small and compact with a nice sound to it. Will have to test it again tmr if it’s loud enough for my violin. Tested it first time today but by the time I got to my loud pieces, the winding was almost all the way down so the volume did go down, and I cant hear it with my violin anymore
One issue with this metronome as mentioned by some people was, the ticks aren’t that even compared to a digital. It’s pretty obvious to me as I have a very sensitive ear. The moment I started the metronome I could hear it. The ticks for when the pendulum goes left and the ticks that goes right are SLIGHTLY different in terms of time length. It’s really a small difference but if you would describe it, it’s like having a dotted crotchet and a quaver rather than 2crotchets.. Will have to check and see if there’s anything I can do to even it somehow…
But anyway it’s ideal for travelling so I don’t expect this small little guy to be perfect. If it’s loud enough it’s good enough for me 😛 I guess if i want something to be solely for accurate timings in the future , will probably get the bigger pendulum metronomes
Edit: one thing I did to get a slightly more even beats is to fully wind up the metronome. It seems more accurate when it’s fully winded,and starts to get uneven and softer when it’s winding down. The slower beats were more obvious that the beats are uneven so if I needed a very accurate beat (eg to pace for my exam scales) then I’ll just fully wind up anytime it gets too uneven. But anyway as I say, it’s a compact metronome so it does its job being small xD
Edit2! Being a perfectionist I tried figuring how to solve the uneven problem xD so apparently it has something to do with the pendulum angle/weight. Since I can’t change angle, I added some Bluetack on one side of the pendulum while hearing the beats. (recommended to put on the SLOWEST beat as the unevenness is the most obvious). So now I have even beats! 😀 but do take note, after you add on that extra “weight” the bpm increases slightly than stated. I used a digital metronome to compare so now I know my beats are 3bpm faster than whatever is stated on the metronome. So figure it out yourself! XD

When I received it I was impressed with the quality and looks.
Once I began using it I found that at slower speeds (below 100 bpm) it would stop after a moment or so.
Being a beginner I needed the slower beats so I returned it.
The return went fine and I’m sorry it did not work out. I ordered an electronic version which is fine but not as pretty.

大きさ、佇まい、そして音がいい。
古い時計の刻みを聞いているようです。
使い勝手も良く、外に持っていけるのももちろんですが、家の色んな場所で楽器を練習したい時など、非常に重宝します。
スマホのアプリが味気ないとか、もっと練習するときの雰囲気も大事にしたい、と思われるなら間違いなく買いですね。
ただ、ピアノのような据え置きの楽器には小さすぎるかもしれませんし、チーンと言う音はなくただただカチカチと刻むだけなので、それが物足りない方はもう少し大きのがいいと思います。

Great little metronome. Wittner is the the traditional/classic choice for me. I have a vintage early 1900’s larger one and this smaller version gives it the same tasteful look with the perfect sound. Not so loud that is a distraction, but perfect in the background for mandolin and piano. I plan on using this for a long time and passing it down through my family.

As a matter of personal preference I really don’t much care for digital metronomes, but for my purposes needed something small. This thing is perfect! – small enough to fit in my guitar case or backpack. I read several reviews warning that it wasn’t loud enough but found this not to be the case. It’s plenty loud enough to bother my wife in the other room. I saw one complaining about the accuracy; if it’s off I can’t tell, and if I could I probably wouldn’t need it in the first place.
I must admit that I did agonize over the price. German engineering aint cheap, but speaking from experience it’s worth every penny, and after several weeks of use I’m still properly impressed with this gadget.

Évidemment qu’on peut trouver des applications smartphones gratuites avec une précision incomparable, c’est pas le but de ce métronome, mais franchement dans les tempos lents il est tout juste bon pour faire de la décoration… Il tient pas le rythme et est irrégulier car pas facile de le mettre à niveau à cause de la “porte” en plus… on paie cher le compromis de l’encombrement…
Je cherchais un métronome mécanique compact à tout prix donc je reste moyennement satisfait, surtout parcequ’il m’a coûté 3 fois moins cher en occasion warehouse, je pense que vu le prix neuf habituel c’est du vol.
Bref faut vraiment aimer les métronomes mécaniques et c’est loin d’être le meilleur, du coup je comprends pas son positionnement au niveau du prix. Ou alors c’est juste destiné aux collectionneurs qui s’en serviron pas, mais même là le bois, les vis et charnières font très cheap (2 ont la tête foirée sur le mien…) par rapport au tarif présenté.

It’s beautiful and the function is very nice. The quality is pleasing. When I first purchased, I didn’t notice it was mini but that’s my favorite part about it. It’s great for musicians on the go. The sound is very crisp and clear and it’s loud enough to hear across the room. I included pictures next to an iPhone 7 plus for reference.

This arrived exactly as advertised. Real wood. Real metal. No plastic. I haven’t tested it’s rate markings for accuracy. A tip – it is a little difficult to stop the metro one handed by slipping the bar under its catch at the top (I often have my violin in the other hand) – so if you close the door a little, the swing arm will touch the door and stop swinging. The volume of clicks seems to be loud enough to be heard even when playing an un-muted violin. I bought it cause its a real machine without much plastic. All the important bits are wood and metal.
