WYZE Cam V3 With Color Night Vision

I have quite a few of the Wyze cams around my house and they work well. The picture quality is there and they very rarely disconnect from the W-Fi router. I did have one V3 cam fail…the red light came on, but would no longer connect or have a picture. Wyze Customer Service was great in helping me get a replacement since the Amazon return time limit was over. Between the low cost of the cams, how well they and the APP works, and the fine Customer Service, I have decided to make Wyze my “go-to” cam supplier. One just has to remember that you’re not paying much, so these are not a super high-end surveillance and alarm system….but they are more than adequate to meet my needs.

This Wyze Cam v3 is a stunningly easy to setup, easy to use, effective monitoring solution for a pet or child. I can’t believe the picture quality and features can be this good for about $25, plus the cost of an SD card and (ideally) a $20/year license. The license is optional, but without it, the camera will leave 5-minute gaps between motion captures, so if you want continuous motion monitoring to alert you (which you may not need), you’ll need the license.

Setup is very easy. Download the Wyze Cam app, connect it to your WiFi, set up an account with your email and a password, then use the plugged in Wyze Cam to scan a QR code displayed by the app. The app is well designed and very responsive. Once connected, you can view the live camera stream, play back recorded captures, talk through a small speaker in the camera (and hear sounds/responses back through your phone), and set up push alerts to notify you about motion or sound events (with adjustable sensitivity settings). There’s also an option to set a detection zone so that only motion in certain parts of the camera frame will trigger it to record. (This is very handy if, say, you want the camera to trigger and notify you whenever your pet is moving around the room, but not when the pet is in a particular area of the frame, such as in a crate or pet bed.)

One advanced option also allows you to disable the status light on the front of the camera. This is useful if you want it to be discrete so that others can’t tell when it’s recording or not. Likewise, there are two night vision modes (both of which work surprisingly well): Near and Far. Near is ideal for an average sized room and does not use any visible light to illuminate the dark effectively. Far is for outdoor applications or very long rooms, and is less discrete insofar as four red lights will display on the front of the camera, which obviously will call more attention to its presence.

The base of the camera comes with an easy-to-mount circular steel mount that fastens to the wall with a single fastener, and then magnetically clips to the camera to hold it in place. I opted to mount mine with 3M wall mount strips instead, just to avoid putting a hole in the wall. The base is very nicely designed so that you can raise/lower, tilt, and rotate the angle of the camera lens fairly easily. It should not be difficult to find a mounting location that, combined with the adjustable base, allows for a very nicely framed view of the room.

I was looking for a cheap, effective way to monitor our dog when we’re away, but I did not expect the Wyze Cam v3 to be this good. The picture is very clear, the motion sensitivity alerts work very well, the app is nicely designed, and the night vision mode is surprisingly effective in very low light or pitch darkness. What’s not to like? If I needed more cameras for indoor monitoring or security purposes, this would be my go-to choice. I’m not sure how well these cameras would or would not hold up outside, so I can’t comment on that application.

La cámara en sí está muy bien, la mensualidad sencilla cuesta 59 pesos para quien le interese y tienes la opción de ponerle una micro sd, que si te dejara más limitado, pero me parece que también cumple un buen papel con la última opción

Puedes determinar el perímetro que quieres que decrece, esto en caso de que la ubiques en un lugar donde solo quieres detección en un área determinada, la detección tiene un leve retraso domo de 2 segundos, pero nunca más que eso, puedes hablar desde el micrófono y se entiende perfecto, escuchar no tanto, pero no es tan terrible.

También puedes configurar reglas, dependiendo de si quieres la detección a ciertas horas y luego que se apague, en ese sentido está bastante bien, creo que le faltaría un modo de merodeador, que te detecte si alguien está merodeando mucho la zona que determinaste como zona de detección

También tiene un modo de detección de cara amiga (pero también de pago y en el plan más caro)

En resumen, por el precio que la encontré, estuvo perfecto, creo que hasta por 600 pesos vale totalmente la pena.
