In my opinion, this card is the “sweet spot” as of March 2023 when it comes to maximum FPS for your dollar. Personally I wouldn’t spend more and I wouldn’t spend less. I’m playing Sons of the Forest and if I wanted to push the card it would do 130FPS at 1440 resolution, or 50FPS at 4K (not worth it). Since the refresh rate of my monitor is only 60Hz, it would be a waste to do more than that so I have vSync on for smooth consistent gaming at 60FPS.

    Points to know:

    1) The card is BIG. When I saw the listing photos I figured it looks similar to my previous 3-fan card so I assumed it would fit. NOPE. I literally had to cut my case with tinsnips, as shown. Now, I’m not the kind of person who minds bent metal — The case will be closed anyway. But if you like things to be pretty, measure your case first and consider getting a new one. As shown the dimensions stated it the listing are pretty accurate, but they don’t include the little metal tabs at back where you screw it in…. 13.36″ is ONLY from the mounting plate to the other end. Although height didn’t affect me, also observe the 5.43″, which is similarly deceptive because it does NOT include the gold contacts which drop descend into the slot. It’s from the top of your slot to the upper edge of the card with the lettering. (Which is pretty in the dark but I wish I could turn it off.)

    2) I read enough that I knew this in advance, but I had to upgrade my power supply. I’ve seen this card guzzle 257 Watts at max settings. The photo shows the power supply I went with from Amazon — 850 Watts should do, as my PC was already fine with the previous 450Watt power supply before the upgrade. Mind you, the way I play with vSync and other settings, it only uses half as much power, but you don’t want to have to worry about that.

    3) Make sure your power supply has air! (And your PC case too.) This is where I almost returned the card: After a few minutes of play, my computer would suddenly HARD crash — Like, a black screen, a buzzing sound, and only the power switch gives any relief. I thought it was the card — it wasn’t. Apparently my new power supply, which is quite adequate and absolutely necessary, has a fan underneath it just like the old one did. Although it blows through an open hole in the PC case, the PC is sitting on carpet. My old PS never complained, (with an RX5600XT) but the new power supply overheated and I assume the power dropped. Once I put my computer up on a couple blocks, it’s been smooth sailing and the power supply itself is fine. It’s just more picky about airflow than the smaller power supply, which makes sense.

    4) Uninstall your old drivers! I know that seems like common sense, but since my old card was also Radeon, I figured I could just keep the “AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition” onboard and it would work fine. Problem is, it looked AS IF worked fine, so it was sneaky. It recognized the new card and didn’t complain. But when I launched games I got a few little graphical anomalies… Not big ones, and not even very intrusive… So at first I didn’t suspect the drivers were to blame. But when it started crashing (see #3) I tried reinstalling the drivers to address that issued. Well, it didn’t solve the crashing, but it DID solve the graphical issues.

Running this beast of a GPU with an i7 13700KF all sitting on an ASRock Z790 PG Riptide DDR5 mobo. This thing looks and performs awesome. I play at 1440p. This thing quite obviously blows my 3060 Ti out of the water (went from the 3060 in a Dell XPS 8940 to my own custom build). Before I was averaging 135 FPS on COD Vanguard and now I’m hitting well over 200! Have noticed the performance differences in other games as well such AC Odyssey and BFV. I know this thing is geared toward 4K but if you play at 1440p don’t rule out buying it! You’ll get maximum performance at maximum settings and if you want to make the jump to 4K all you’ll need is a new monitor. Can’t beat the price either. As far as I know the 3090 Ti is slightly better (and far better at raytracing of course, if you’re into that) but most models are consistently 2x to 3x the price right now. Even most 3080 Ti’s are close to double if not more. Highly recommend if RT isn’t a deal breaker for you. Also it doesn’t come with an anti-sag brace (not totally sure it even needs one with my rig, it definitely droops but it isn’t too much cause for concern) but I found one here on Amazon for like $12. I could probably get away without it but it’ll give me some piece of mind knowing it’s got some support under it. But it’s mostly for aesthetics lol. Case is a 4000D airflow and just a warning if you had a radiator and fans on the front of the case it’s likely that this GPU will not fit. You’d have to upsize to the 5000D.

I am glad that I decided to try this graphics card instead of my previous Aero Itx 1630. I decided to uninstall the previous software and drivers as well as reboot prior to installing the new graphics card. Once the computer was back up and I was in Windows, I went to AMD’s website and looked up the Adrenaline download for this version of AMD Radeon card. I installed it and rebooted again. I registered my card on the XFX website and then went to the AMD website and entered the information for the promotional game that Amazon emailed to me. I was prompted to download a product verification utility and once it verified the graphics card I was prompted to logon to Steam to download the game. I now launch games from the AMD Adrenaline dashboard and the passthrough opens the game through Steam. It also helps optimize the game to eliminate any lag, if any. This was important for me because of the age of the desktop which is an AM3+ motherboard by AS Rock ( 970A – G / 3.1 ) with an AMD FX- 8350 processor, 32 GB Ram, an SSD by PNY for OS boot and an additional SSD for dowloaded games from Steam. This older platform is PCIe 2.0 x16 versus the newer PCIe 4.0 and I know that I will need to upgrade at sometime in the near future but not just yet. I tested Mortal Kombat 11, XL, Komplete Edition and Tekken 7 and the gameplay was a great improvement over my previous GPU. I have also uploaded a photo from my Benchmark test using SuperPosition and a photo of the graphics card information yielded from using TechPowerUp GPU-Z. This purchase is definitely worth the extra $10 dollars that I spent that was above the cost of the previous card. This is also the first time that I have tried an XFX Graphics Card. It definitely will not be my last. If you have been a little nervous with the notion of trying an AMD versus an NVidia graphics card, I would say …. do not be afraid to try something new. The whole process from installation to gameplay took me under an hour and I just take my time in order to avoid problems. I also wanted to make sure that I mention that this card does not require any additional power from a 6 or 8 pin connector or the installation of a larger wattage power supply. The graphics card comes with the low profile bracket in case you plan to install it in a small form factor desktop as opposed to the full height used in Mini, Mid and Full Tower installations.

I had 3060 but returned it since I was getting the pushed to buy 6700xt by the internet. This card is better than a 3060 like way better it’s not even close but the 3060 never ever crashes ever when I hadnit
