A must have for any bikes with a slanted top tube (ie. mountain bikes or women’s casual bikes). The adapted bar holds my Trek Fuel level and behind the trunk out of the wind (see photo). Before (without the adapter), one of my wheels was up in the air and I was afraid that the wind would rip the bike off at highway speeds. With the adapter bar, it’s a non-issue and I don’t worry about it now.
The bar feels very solid and sturdy and the weight limit should be adequate for most bikes (maybe not for ebikes or downhill bikes). The closure mechanism feels very secure and I like how the ends overlap for additional support. One nice feature is the rubber end has a groove that keeps the handlebars from twisting and prevents the front tire from rubbing on my bumper.
I have another adapter bar (thinner bar with the white label in the photo) that feels much more flimsy (and has a lower weight limit). I thought the clamp would be useful on the cheaper bar to prevent it from extending, but it doesn’t really work very well and isn’t necessary. The two bars aren’t even comparable, and I definitely prefer the Yakima top tube adapter.

It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, easy to put on, and easy to take off, holds the bike perfectly of my bike rack. I need another one, so I plan to order again, soon!

We love our Yakima spare wheel mounted bike rack, but our two bikes didn’t sit on it too well due to the angle of the crossbar on my partner’s bike. This is a really quick and easy solution to that problem. As with the bike rack itself, this accessory is very robust and well-made and we now have no concerns at all about how the bike sit on the rack.

Useful for adapting a small or full suspension frame onto an old style Yakima, Thule or other bike rack that uses non-movable arms. The one caveat is that the spring button release is difficult to operate.

I was unable to put my new bike on my existing bike rack but this solved the problem. It’s easy to install and works perfectly.

Needed a second bar for my wife’s bike and I went with the Yakima instead of getting another Saris bar. Both bars are very similar and get the job done but I would say I prefer the Saris bar due to the closing mechanism and how to unhook it. The Yakima version you have to push a small metal piece in and it not always easy. I feel that the biggest downfall of both versions is that the bar does not lock into place once you get it to the correct place you want. They want to keep telescoping out so it does not sit properly on the seat or the stem.

Keeps the bikes on the rack nice and stable. Seems like most adult bikes nowadays do not have a straight frame. I was barely able to fit two mountain bikes on a 4 rack hitch since they didn’t fit straight. Handle bars and seats get in the way. I purchased two of these bars and was able to nicely fit them side-by-side, with definite space for two more bikes now. The product is a great idea, but an extra expense that might make you think twice about it. But, without it, I would never be able to fit four adult bikes.
