I have an old Yamaha FG-180 and needed a case for it. The only other case I ever had was the original hard-body case that was worn out and I expected this one to be similar. Wow, was I surprised when this arrived ( very quickly) and it was much much larger, had very thick padding and a much sturdier shell. Some products have improved since the 60’s and this is one of them. This is a wonderful case and fits my guitar perfectly. The case has a deep storage compartment which is so much nicer than my original case that only held a capo, some picks and a cloth. I feel like my guitar is very protected in this case. On one hand, I wish the case were a bit more streamlined and not so large but it is intended to protect and for the price, you can’t buy better protection.

For the price this is a decent guitar case. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money and need something that looks great and will protect your guitar this is probably your best bet on a budget. The interior is very soft and will not scratch your guitar. There is a nice place to store picks, extra strings, etc. The exterior is very sturdy and I have complete confidence that this will protect my guitar very well. The only place where the case feels ‘cheap’ is how the lid aligns with the rest of the case – as some other reviewers have mentioned. When you just shut the lid, the top and bottom often don’t align properly so you have to man handle it a bit to get it in the right place for the buckles to work properly. It’s a tradeoff I’m more than willing to make for the price. If you spent thousands of dollars on your guitar, you may want to spring for a little better case.
One more quick note – whoever packaged this thing for shipping at Amazon did a completely ridiculous job. The person taped two giant boxes together that ended up being about the size of a refrigerator. The guitar case took up about 25% of the interior volume and the rest was jammed with more packing paper than I have ever seen. Don’t get me wrong, the guitar case was well protected and arrived undamaged, but the same could have been accomplished with 50% less packaging. It would have been funny if it weren’t such an egregious waste of material. In retrospect I should have taken a picture, but didn’t think about it until I had broken everything down and filled my ENTIRE recycle bin.
Bottom line – if you want an effective but inexpensive guitar case, but kinda hate the environment, this is the case for you!

Great case.

I bought this case to replace a gig bag for an older Yamaha drednought guitar. For this price I was expecting a flimsy semi-cardboard lightweight case that was very basic. I was suprised at the quality. The sides are quite thick and strong with a good solid feel. The inside is black, plush (not overly) but definitely soft. I was expecting felt over cardboard stuff. The lid fits well and the latches are heavy duty and fit nicely. The handle is also of a heavier weight and feel than I was expecting.
I don’t want to oversell it. I would not use this to check onto a plane or moving van. That would be asking too much, but for transporting in a car or train this case would easily stand up to that kind of abuse. This is a solid case for transporting you instrument around town. To be honest, I bought this for a guitar that I am retiring. It’s the I don’t want to sell it but I’ve bought a better one guitar. I was looking for something to give it more protection as it sits around the house. This case is way better than what I thought I was getting.

Recommend this guitar case for an Ibanez AC240-opn. Amazon gave me a great price and the measurements with the case were right on for this guitar. I checked with Ibanez about the original case made for this guitar and wow, expensive. After searching the Net and Ebay, this was the deal I was waiting for. What enhanced the buy was a nice $50.00 bucks off with a card purchase from Amazon. The only con was a one-half inch clearance on each side of the guitar from the sides of the case which is no biggy for me because this case is well lined with a nice thick soft lining and I would rather have that than too snug. For this guitar you will like this case. This hardshell case is extra tough on the outside and extra plush on the inside. The outside finish is a shine you will love with no namebrand letters. Well pleased, Yamaha and Amazon! Thanks

This may be my only detailed review. I am not an expert in built and quality of a guitar case. By looking at this case I can see is good looking, open and close easy (latches). Inside has nice black plush. I have different brands some well known without mentioning the brands, some always need extra push to close it around guitar headstock. I tried different guitars problem still exist. This case does not give you that problem. Looks strong but how strong only time could tell or an expert. I bought this case for a Univox MiJ almost exact copy of ES 175 Gibson, it did not fit a little small. I have to mention for some of us who may not know ES 175 Gibson is a big guitar (Jazz) mainly. However, this case fit my Yamaha AEX1500 could be considered A jazz guitar it was a perfect fit. Therefore, the word jumbo may not apply here for this case. Although, Aex1500 Yamaha is not a small guitar but is smaller than ES 175 Gibson or Univox copy for that matter. just thought to let you know if you don’t like your guitar to move inside the case make sure you have the size right. Other than that it is a nice looking case excellent price, and my blond AEX1500 looks like Sleeping Beauty inside it. Thanks.

Case arrived on time and was properly packaged. The case does seem sturdy and the carry handle is thick enough to support the weight of the guitar and the case itself. My issues with this case is that the clasps do not line up properly, I have to manually line the top of the case with the bottom and then engage the clasps. Also, the lock feature on this case does not function. I would not recommend this case to anybody.
