This is my second ZAGG Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad mini. My first, purchased locally, was the ZAGG Folio Case. I had bad luck with the Folio, and had it replaced TWICE; after a couple of weeks, several keys started to malfunction. The third time around with the same issue, I gave up and chucked the Folio.
I was understandably hesitant of getting yet another ZAGG, but the Slim Book seemed promising, so I took the chance. Hrmmphhh…
While the keyboard seems solid and responsive, the case that wraps around the iPad mini doesn’t fit well, is flimsy, and has already broken at the Lightning port/speaker cutouts. I’ve had to superglue it.
ZAGG, if you could make the Slim Book’s iPad case at least the same quality as that of the Folio, this would be a winner. As it is, I’m vacillating between 2 and 3 stars for this product. I’ve only had a few days with it; let’s see if the keyboard holds up and the case doesn’t crack/break some more.
Suggestions:
1) Sturdier case
2) Automatic standby/shutoff of keyboard when in book, tablet, or video mode (maybe make the magnetic contacts detect orientation/presence of iPad)
3) Bring back the colors/levels of backlight
4) Make it tilt back a little bit more in keyboard mode
5) … while at the same time, fix balance/hinge so it doesn’t tip over
UPDATE Feb 2 2015: Dropping to 2 stars. The iPad has the tendency to be left behind when you lift the cover/case in keyboard mode. ZAGG, I think your customers deserve at least an improved replacement case. 🙁
UPDATE May 2 2015: Dropping to 1 star. The plastic around the speaker has completely broken off, and for some reason the magnets have gotten weaker. (5/4/2015: It’s because the hinge has cracked.) Lifting the iPad mini in keyboard mode now leaves the keyboard behind, and sometimes the iPad would fall out of the keyboard slot, where before it would simply tilt over but have the keyboard still attached.
UPDATE May 16 2015: Despite my previous 1 star rating, this still has the best keyboard layout for the iPad mini. I couldn’t help but get another one. Surprisingly, the same mini seems to fit better this time around. Could Zagg have adjusted the case in newer batches? Time will tell. I hope the plastic doesn’t become brittle again. Giving 3 stars for now.
UPDATE June 23 2015: I gave this two chances, but a month or so later, after taking extra care with the case, many the magnets on the hinge have come out on their own. This still has the best keyboard part, but the hinges and the iPad case are a huge letdown.

Había comprado una versión anterior de esta misma funda pero a los 2 meses se rompió la bisagra, fue de muy mala calidad, en cambio esta, al ser desprendible, es mucho más robusta, vale la pena

Absolutely love this keyboard.
Pros:
1. They keyboard itself feels like my MacBook Pro keyboard. Very nice travel and just enough weight. Great typing experience.
2. The keyboard is slightly at an incline when the Ipad is titled more than 90 degrees; this makes it easier to type
3. The keyboard looks very high-end with brushed aluminium on the top surface.
4. Because the keys sit quite high up there is a nice flat base to rest your palm when touch typing; makes it easier to type.
5. The IPad can be pulled out of the keyboard quite easily for when you want to read and thus want the vertical tablet experience; it goes back into the hinge quite easily and with a very satisfying clicking sound from the strong magnet on the hinge at the prong points.
6. Because the base is quite heavy and the swivel of the hinge is perfect (not too strong or weak), it feels like my MacBook and can be used on your lap without fear of it tilting over.
7. The case that fits on the IPad looks quite strong; but I can see a weak corner where the power and volume buttons are. Possibly could get cracked if you kept taking out the iPad from the case all the time and you were not very careful. I don’t have any reason to take it out and if for whatever reason I did, I would be very careful. People have complained about cracking the hinge but the hinge is made of thick plastic and looks pretty strong; must have received some fairly rough treatment from them.
8. The illuminated keyboard makes typing when it is relatively dark quite easy; for when your spouse wants to watch TV at night and you want to work/browse at night. The three choices of colors for the light is a nice touch
9. Can be used with 3 devices with three dedicated keys for that; pushing the key switches to that device in a second. No more going through the settings of the device to connect to Bluetooth. Thus when I get a message on WhatsApp on my Android phone, I can quickly switch the keyboard to the phone and type away on my glorious MacBook Pro like keyboard; in the time the sender is poking with two thumbs on his phone trying to a write a single sentence I have completed five.
10. Makes my IPad into a touch screen MacBook for when I want the MacBook experience and a tablet for when I don’t……at a much lower price than the Macbook Pro Retina display.
Cons:
Can’t find any at the moment but will let you know when I do.
