My 4-year old sulcata (~14 inches long) enjoys laying on this and has a tendency to move it around his cage a lot. He isn’t in an enclosure right now that allows me to nail it down (we moved house and he is in something very temporary while we build something new), but I highly recommend you do this if you can. The pad is fairly light weight, and my guy can push it with some amount of ease which can result in him pulling the cords and all into his enclosure. I’m not worried about electrical issues (he isn’t a chewer) but I check on him regularly to ensure he hasn’t wrapped a wire around his leg.
I purchased an infrared device to allow me to know the surface temperature, and without a thermostat this gets about 110F. Much too hot. I couldn’t keep my hand on the hot spots for very long, so I knew my sulcata shouldn’t be on it either. I try to keep it around 85, which I couldn’t do without purchasing a thermostat with sensor (I’ve been using Zoo Med ReptiTemp 500R Remote Sensor Thermostat and it works fine, though unfortunately you also need to buy the infrared temp sensor to tell you what temp it is operating at since it just allows you to go from a high to low setting). The sensor though doesn’t really have a way of being affixed in place to the pad, so I’ve had to tape the thing in place. Any suggestions how else I could do this? It works for now, but it’s messy.
The pad is a super durable, hard plastic. Great for sulcatas. I am not worried about him destroying this and the cord is heavy duty.

I got this for the tortoises house at night for that added extra heat along with thermostat and heat panel . I’m so glad I got it worth the price great quality!

I have 2 Sulcata tortoises around 10-20lbs each maybe even more. I purchased 1 about a year ago and it works really well. The tortoises fight over it and like it so much that I decided to purchase a second one. The mat can be used for other large reptiles. The material is very durable and having 2 heavy tortoises constantly using it, it still trucks on without any issues. I highly recommend these as they have a built-in thermostat that prevents it from getting too hot. Also cleaning the mat is a breeze as it’s waterproof.

I use this heat mat for my 3ft Savannah monitor in his 8’x8′ enclosure. He loves it. It is under his heat lamp which it on a timer, the mat runs 24/7. The internal cutout is super helpful as you dont have to worry much about it burning your animal or becoming a fire hazard. (However when using products like this you must be vigilant regardless of safety features) mine has been running for nearly 4 years continuously. The heater cable has a few feet of coiled steel coming from the heater, which helps prevent your animal from chewing on the cord. They kept it simple and durable with this product which for me is a plus. The only thing is that heat output is not adjustable, but that can easily be resolved via an external thermostat. I’ve also soaked this thing with water on a few occasions accidentally and had no issues, however I wouldn’t recommend this. Overall it’s worked great for my purposes.

I got this for my tortoise who lives outdoors. I really wanted a pig blanket for him. But this does the job. Good quality product. Temperature is good. It keeps Bowie warm. He loves it. Definitely a good value. No assembly required. Just place in their enclosure and plugi it in.

I like this unit because it provides gentle heat; not burning heat. Also good for chickens. It’s much more efficient than an overhead heat bulb, because heat rises. With something like this head pad, heat rises from the floor and up into your pet. Great for winter time.

This thing is wonderful. We have 2 of them. Both for large sulcata tortoises outdoors. 1 heat mat Is in a barn in tortoise enclosure with hay all around (but not on mat) tortoise is about 159 pounds and we have it hooked up to a thermostat to keep it at 70 degrees. It turns off and on when it needs to. The second one we have is in the 35 pound Tortoise’s dog igloo with hay inside but not on mat. We also have that one hooked up to a thermostat to stay at 70 degrees. They are live savers and keep me happy knowing it keeps them warm. It pretty much keeps the surrounding area warm to. I definitely recommend it.

We have very big turtles around 100 lb and 120 lb. One of our Turtles came with one of these and it lasted a couple of years before we needed to replace it because he tore it up. That one lasted about 4 years and we just purchased another one because once again he tore it up. When you have that big of a turtle they can demolish just about anything no matter how well it’s constructed. Would definitely recommend this for anybody who has a need for this type of device.
