OtterBox iPhone SE/8/7 Commuter Series Case

It’s an Otterbox! Reliable, high quality, durable. It protects the phone. This replaces an old one that sustained damage after repeatedly being dropped. The only drawback is that the rubber flap that protects the charger/earphone jack broke at the hinge after what I would consider normal use.

My last case was an Otterbox symmetry for the iPhone 7. I’ve used that case for two years on my iPhone and that case kept it well protected over the years and to which that case has also held well to this day. I decided to try out a different style (since this was nearly half-off on prime day.) I can honestly say that I am very happy with the style and protection that the Otterbox Commuter provides. This is one of my favorite cases I’ve ever owned and I have gone through a lot of them. It is just the right size for me and it fits great in your hand and doesn’t add too much thickness. It’s also not as bulky as the Otterbox Defender, so it slips in and out of your pocket pretty easily. I also like the inside rubber casing which makes it feel secure and snug. Style-wise, it looks classy and unlike the Otterbox Symmetry, it displays the Apple logo on the back which adds a bit more tastefulness to the case. This is one of the very few cases that offer sturdy protection and looks good while doing it!

If I had any criticisms of this case, I would recommend that Otterbox should have centered the display hole in the back better. The logo looks like it is more prominent on one side. This case also comes with an extended piece of rubber to cover the charging port when not in use. It does tend to become a little bit of a nuisance having to unhook it every time to charge or plug headphones. I also feel like over time the extended rubber will lose grip and will eventually protrude from extended use. Lastly, this is very minor, but the back part of the casing is made from a hardened plastic material that doesn’t provide much hand grip, especially if you have sweaty hands.

Overall, I highly recommend this case.

Loved this case for my iPhone 7. It works great while it lasts but the rubber and plastic portions of the case will wear and tear. I went through two of these through the lifetime of my iPhone 7 (about 4-5 years). Got the iPhone 12 Pro Max equivalent for my current phone.

I have used the Otterbox Commuter on now my 3 rd iPhone. It protects well, but is not too bulky. The face is a bit recessed so if the phone falls face down on a flat surface (like a floor) it is still protected. The two-part case has a smooth outer plastic shell so it slides into a pants pocket easily.

For iPhone SE. got good price for otter product. The build is solid, I can see why it has a reputation for protection. I’ve had several drops, it’s hard to explain but you can even hear how absorbs impact. It’s a quiet sound. When I pick it up after drop, I can’t even see scuff on case! Yeah?! It’s that good plastic they use for high end power tools type of material. I’ll add. There’s a nice hearty weight once on it, for me I like it. The rubber parts add for grip in the right places. Mine is black, after drops, still looks like new case. * material is top notch. Buttons firm and protective. I’m careful with cover for charging port, I’ve read other reviews had theirs come off. Just open accordingly. Mine is still on, functional and solid.

Likes: Appears mostly sturdy. Plastic. Sleek design. Easy to hold. Works with my screen protector on it as well. Phone fits snuggly. Seems worth price this time. Good experience with this brand overall on previous phones.

Dislikes: I struggled with the installation. I was slightly concerned I would break something during the installation, but it worked out well in the end. Installation probably took 3-5 minutes.
