Outstanding Brightness
The Epson 5050UB is capable of displaying 4K content at an incredible 2,600 lumens for both color and white brightness. This wide performance envelope allows for exceptional HDR performance, ensuring that every scene is displayed with vivid clarity and brightness.
Epson UltraBlack Technology
Featuring Epsonโs Proprietary Compensation Filter, the 5050UB controls the polarization of light, suppressing any stray light within the signal. This results in an outstanding Dynamic Contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, delivering deep blacks and bright whites for a more immersive viewing experience.
Precision HDR Adjustment
The real-time HDR curve adjustment allows for 16-steps of control to fine-tune the HDR performance, regardless of the content being displayed. This ensures that every scene is displayed with the perfect balance of light and shadow.
Extreme Color Gamut
One of the first commercially available home theater projectors capable of displaying the full three-dimensional DCI-P3 color space, the Epson 5050UB offers extreme color performance that is 50% wider than typical 1-chip Rec. 709 projectors. This allows for a truly professional level of color accuracy.

It took us many tries to settle on the right projector for our home theater. I tried at least 8 different projectors, from the several of the higher end of lower priced models, like the BenQ and Optoma variety, to the Sony models that were much more expensive. Factors considered was my throw range – around 17 or 18 feet from screen, to screen size of 120 inches, to my room which eliminates all ambient light. With all of these other models, I just could not find a picture that satisfied me. the closest I got was the Optoma ZH406, which produced a good picture, even when I tested in a bright room, but would not work with my throw range. I finally got professional help from an AV consultant, who recommended this EPSON model, which was above what I initially wanted to spend, but came with great reviews. WOW. This projector is incredible. It is true 4k, and produces a bright, vibrant true 4k picture. Everything from movies to sports looks incredible on the screen. It is a large projector, and heavy, so you want to have it professionally and permanently mounted, but this is the projector you get for a theater room, not the backyard. It also is a projector you will love for years to come, so worthy of the investment.

I have been waiting to be able to buy this projector and setup my theater room. Finally, i made the move and purchased this. It is perfect for any home theater and produces excellent picture quality. Can’t wait to have friends and family come over and enjoy movie nights.

If you can get past the price of how astronomically much this costs which seems like a total scam at first, this actually is the best prosumer option for you. Itโs rated highest by all the people in all the leading reviewers. This is my second Epson now. The main reason I get this is because of the quality and versatility. I have an offset layout of my house where I can mount the projector and typically you have to have something dead in line with the screen. This one has enough features to where is can adjust the image in all directions and the zoom/sides, too, which is important to size the screen borders correctly. The focus is super precise and is motorized so you donโt have to literally do it on a ladder and thereโs a lens lock feature on the remote so you canโt accidentally change an otherwise pretty set picture totally mess it up without some effort. The best thing is that even if you do manage to lose or somehow break this lighted remote, there is a very small amount of controls hidden behind an easily accessible little door, plus the replacement remotes are readily found online for $75 or less. and The brightness of this newer model projector is only about 100-200 lumens which doesnโt sound like a lot but itโs actually really noticeable. I was surprised. I can comfortably watch it during the day with the blinds semi-closed and one window completely uncovered where before the picture was much dimmer. The picture is awesome since even though it is native 1080×1024 WUXA, it has this upscaling feature that does something with the pixels to change the resolution to 4K. This is a super quiet unit and the edge to edge focus on this is pretty much perfect. Itโs got amazing contrast like it says and astounding brilliant color. Thereโs high speed processing of the images with no lag either. Itโs like a magical box that costs $3,000…. yes, the older 5040UB is $1,000 less so you could easily get that one but I would say the detail compared to the 5040UB and this one is fairly noticeable and the light output is definitely noticeable. The lamps donโt last forever but I am a heavy tv and movie watcher and I havenโt even made a small dent in mine so far. It will last forever. 3 words of caution: this thing is more heavy than most machines out there but itโs also better. With that heaviness comes the fact that itโs a little bulky, too. The last thing is that to make sure you get the extended warranty you should do with all major electronics anyway (and keep track of when they expire). Itโs well worth it and can make a difference. I had to have one replaced before and it was a godsend. All in all itโs a good buy if you are willing to shell out that much cash. Itโs one of the best out there. There are some probably a little better, sure, but they also lack what this one has with the features. Not everyone has a dedicated theater room in their house. I donโt. You have to be practical.

Epson knocked it out of the park with this one! My first impression was wow this thing is gigantic. I had to use a low table to support it in my setup but the lens shift easily moved the image where I needed it. The image quality (clarity, color) absolutely blew me away. The entire image is in perfect focus with the flick of the lens focus feature on the remote. Lens positioning can be saved in memory as well. Previous low end projectors I had could not be focused at the 4 corners. I was lucky to get this on sale for Black Friday but itโs worth every bit of $3000. I highly recommend this product.
