I have to dissent from the 5 Star reviews: less than a year after purchase, the Right channel began to fade in and out, then became nothing but static. On the plus side, AQ has a 5 year warranty on this cable.
I don’t think Big Sur offers any sonic improvement over AQ’s Golden Gate series. As for as the general design of AQ cables the plugs are smooth and difficult to pull from the jack. That may have something to do with reliability of the cable as pulling on the wire seems inevitable.
AQ has become the house cable for mid-range audiophiles, but check out alternatives.

I bought these to test if they were really any better than the lower cost Audioquest Evergreen cables (which are quite good). Amazon has a decent return policy, so why not. I actually did notice a difference (not massive) – stronger lows and better stereo separation. Are they worth 3x the cost of Evergreens? It’s up to you, for me, I’m keeping the Big Sur’s, I’m happy with the upgrade. Of course, you need a decent system to notice the difference.

I switched from Chord Chrimson Plus RCA’s (best analogue interconnects Hifi 2011), to Big Surs, to connect a Musical Fidelity V90 DAC (OSX laptop running TIDAL) to a Rega Brio 3 and a pair of well positioned KEF LS50’s on stands, in a small room.
I could detect a small improvement in bass control and richness through the Audioquest Big Sur vs the previous cable without perceivable differences in the rest of the sound spectrum nor differences in sound-staging.
I did not A/B test the cables with higher quality signals like DSD, CD or Super Audio CD.
5 stars because it does what is says on the box: provides sound improvement on an already great sounding system.

Used for analog stereo connection to Emotiva XMC-1 preamp from Bluesound Node 2 DAC for playing of WAS stored music library CDs ripped to lossless FLAC as well as hires purchased music files up to PCM 24/192 and MQA.. Also used for hires music streaming via Tidal Masters with MQA. Flawless performance at a fair price. I highly recommend and would purchase again.

For me and my equipment this is probably the point of diminishing return, very good quality cable with great sound. Plays well with every music source.

I can’t say that these sound better than the Mogami Gold 1 metre I was using to connect my turntable but they certainly do not sound worse
I will repurpose the Mogami for a hi end legacy CD player used in a secondary system and keep these because they are very nice cables and I never spent stoopit $ on a cable so there’s that

Tinc els green que vaig comprar primer. Em va semblar una millora tan bona que vaig comprar els vermells de la gama tot just superior després (golden gate) i realment es notava que encara eren millors… de manera que al final em vaig comprar el Big sur negres.
Conclusió: Realment son tots ells una millora i a més es nota la diferència segons vas pujant el model de gama.
Molt recomenable. Jo al final he deixat el verd pel sintonitzador, el vermell pel cdplayer i el negre pel receptor bluetooth. Per desgràcia el meu plat Rega ja els porta connectats al braç de serie i no els puc canviar sense dur-lo a un tècnic amb els riscos afegits que això implicaria. Sinó li posaria uns altres negres big sur sense dubtar-ho.

It took two weeks to break in but now they sound great in general and made most of my cds sound great. They do slightly color the sound of music but for the money are hard to beat. I think most people would be happy with them who spent less then $2K on their amp & speakers.

These cables are wonderful. They really make a difference in the listening experience. Consider it like HD sound; the silences are deep, longer reverb tails, pristine, detailed midrange and precise, clean tonal balance in the bass and treble.
I use these for live electronic music believe it or not, as they seem to be targeted for home or hifi equipment. Improves the sound of all my gear and makes effects perform better. I also perform better because the information I’m hearing is so true. Way better than Mogami Gold or Monster. Highly recommend!
