The card is a great performer – much speedier than the small GPU I had in my previous PC. Completely silent which combined with my quiet SFF PC makes it super pleasant to use.

I wish it was in greater supply and cheaper, since it is after all a ‘low end’ GPU. Actually more expensive than an RTX 3060, on a price/performance ratio. But the quiet gaming experience for older titles is the heaven that I wanted.

Since I got this card specifically to install in a SFF PC, it was a tight fit and I had to be careful not to pinch or kink any cables.

This review is for the ASUS GT1030-2G-CSM, an entry-level games or graphics card which performs decently.

I purchased this card to replace an 11 year old high-end (at the time) GTX 260 card which came new with my Ubuntu 20.04 personal workstation, which had worked fairly well with NVidia’s proprietary X11 legacy driver until the kernel updated to 5.8. The driver for the GTX 260 is not supported on recent kernels. This left me with the unaccelerated open source Nouveau driver, which rendered correctly, but performed poorly: browsers were no longer as responsive and games were very slow due to extensive software rendering to the hardware. 8 FPS in one of my 3D games, too jumpy for use.

What a difference 11 years makes. Compared to the aged GTX 260, this entry-level board has similar specs, with some operations much faster. Although my old PCIe 2.0 motherboard runs at half the data transfer rates of the board’s PCIe 3.0 interface, everything is snappy including first person games (running at 24-45 FPS), and I’m using the latest version 470 driver. Not bad at all.

    * CSM stands for Corporate Stable Model, “Extended Longevity & Advance Swap Service” reads the box.
    * The card has a big finned heat sink instead of a fan and cowl, making it silent. It is a full length card.
    * It is low profile, and comes with panel brackets for low profile and regular slots.
    * It is dual slot width, with the heat sink fins taking up the adjacent slot.
    * It does not come with a metal cover for the open panel slot aligned with the heat sink fins, so you’ll need to find one of those to cover the hole if you replace a card that covered both back panel slots.
    * There are two display output ports: DVI-D and HDMI.
    * The HDMI also has an audio device on the card, which I have not tested.
    * The slow, unaccelerated, open source Nouveau Linux driver works out of the box.
    * The fast, accelerated, proprietary NVidia 470 X11 driver works well too.
    * Cards based on the NVidia GT 1030 chipset debuted at around $75 but the current pricing is about twice that due to parts shortages; I still think these are still a fair price.
    * NVidia’s GT 1030 chip requires about 30 Watts of power. This card is powered off the PCIe slot and requires no 6-pin connector, so overall uses less than 75 Watts.

Fast delivery from the United States. Received item about a week later after ordering. Card arrived in excellent condition. Seamless installation on Windows 10.

Basic performance is acceptable. When gaming, card runs up to 70 degrees Celsius but doesn’t feel like an issue. Love the quiet passive cooling feature.

The media could not be loaded.

It works exceptionally well, but it’s just not for gaming. If you are looking for a graphics card please get one with at least 4gb, I wish I would have. Now my brand new “gaming computer” sits barely used because it can barely run the games I want to play at the lowest graphics settings.

Es una tarjeta de video de capacidad modesta, pero cumple con el objetivo para su precio. Recomendada.

I have had this ASUS GeForce GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 HDMI DVI Graphics Card (GT1030-2G-CSM) in service for about one year as I write this review. I am not a gamer, so I cannot tell you if it is fast. I do video editing, audio editing, streaming, wordprocessing, browsing and email with my setup. I use all of my SATA ports and even have a plug-in eSATA card for more ports. Everything I have connected to my motherboard has been rock solid stable. It just works exactly the way I want and have no anomalies. The motherboard and all components run cool with i7-13700K CPU, 128 GB of Crucial DDR5-4800 that is clocked at 5200 automatically set by the motherboard itself. My video card is a the very modest Asus GeForce GT1030 because I transitioned my ancient setup from MBR to GPT and needed to be able to boot the old system in the new motherboard before updating the Windows 10 Pro config to GPT UEFI and still be able to boot legacy devices. Everything just worked like a Swiss Chronograph. I strongly recommend the ASUS ProArt Z790-Creator WiFi 6E LGA 1700, this Asus video card, the Crucial dram, and am also recommending the Crucial MX500 SATA drives and Intel i7-13700K I use. Is all of this the fastest? I have no idea. Does it boot and work everytime so far? Absolutely!
