I bought a large quantity of these cards. Almost all of them overclock very well while running cool (I crank the fan speed up a bit with Afterburner) — plus you can’t beat the Limited Lifetime Warranty offered by PNY on this card! The only down-side is that the blower fan is a bit louder than other cooling solutions (although this blower is quieter than my blower style RX480 cards)… but for $499 I have no complaints at all.

This card is great for the price!! I purchased two filling up last two slots on one of my mining rigs, I would recommend under watt this card with MSIAfterburner it gets Hot (74 celsius) even in a cooled room other cards running at 64 celsius. Overclocks very well with under watt producing about 49.3 m/h at 90% power.

Terrible hashrate vs other 1080s or GTX 1070 for mining but okay for gaming.

First I want start out by saying that this item is a little different from the pic. Not sure if there is possibly two different releases of this item. Mine does not have the big red X on the sticker. It is just solid black label with ( PNY GeForce GtX 1080) on it. Not a big deal as you really can not see it once installed.
Blower style AKA FE models get a fairly bad rap for cooling and noise. But they do have a positive side as they do exhaust the heat out the back rather that just blowing it all around the case. I was able to keep the card in the min 70s with a small overclock +100 core and +300 memory. I really didn’t push the limits though.
I really didn’t know what to expect with this card as the price was only 499.00. With most 1070 and RX 580 selling in that price range at the moment. I figured this was worth the risk. I have been more than pleased with the dollar to performance ratio. At about the same price as a 1070 and $250 less than a 1080 TI. This card is a great fit for somebody building a gaming machine at today’s current pricing.
As for you miners out there. Only tested one Algo and that was Skein Mining Digibyte. The card did 640 MH at 64 C 71% TDP pulling 123 Watts from the wall. I really can not tell you any other Coin Benchmarks ( a friend preconfigured the ccminer file for me to test it, as well as told me the settings for MSI AfterBurner).

Works great as a mining card. But you WILL experience heat problems in hot ambient rooms. 1 Blower is not enough. Maxed at 100% all the time.
But the performance is the same as other top tier 1080’s. I suggest coupling with a aircon (10k btu or more)

Runs a little hot and the case is nothing worth showing off, but a GTX 1080 at $500 in the current mining craze is worth it on its own (note: I realize the price has now gone up, and I recommend not paying over $500 for this particular card when there are better options in terms of cooling efficiency and case aesthetics). Works as intended: constant 120-144 fps on most games at high settings on 1440p, any lower resolution and this card is most likely overkill for the majority of games.

Not as advertised, this was the legacy product and therefore overpriced by 25 to 30 %.

upgraded from a 980ti and noticed a nice improvement with this card. I’m not savvy to all the various 1080’s out there but this one is the real deal at least at a very good price, no problems with temps to the like, just works
