Yep, I’m a nerd, and when I saw this offered, I had to have one. Always wanted one of the “binocular” type microscopes, and now I have one. Yippee! You Monocular scope owners can eat my dust.
Back when I was but a young lad, these type microscopes where always on the expensive side, and my irrational parents, wanting to spend money on ridiculous things like food and utility bills, would dismiss my absolute need for one of these, leaving me dejected, forlorn, and bino-scopeless.
This one comes with a great set of accessories, magnifies beyond my expectations, and basically has me, once again after a decades long hiatus, in search of the elusive and deadly (to tiny things) Hydra, the coolest micro thing there is. Will I ever find one? Stay tuned…

This is a good quality functional microscope for home use and works very well. I have been using it to prepare and view a variety of specimens and have found it comparable with the microscopes in my college’s lab. I can see everything clearly and adjust the lighting to suit my needs easily. The stage, focus knobs, and lenses move and rotate smoothly, and the clips securely hold slides. Although the microscope I received was new, the lenses and eyepieces needed to be cleaned before use as they were hazy. I recommend only using Kimtech or similar quality lens paper meant for microscopes to clean the glass and slides to avoid potential scratches or lint. I am very happy with this microscope; it is perfect for my needs, and I expect it to last me a long time with proper care.

My understanding was, from the promotional images showing microscopic views of things on PC screens, that you could view what you’re looking at from the microscope on a computer. However, the microscope comes with a mini CD but no online drivers to download. Mini CDs were popular for, maybe like 5 minutes in 1988. No modern computers supports this format or hardware. Useless. Why did you include that?

Got this to get a good look at soil. The overhead light basically doesnt illuminate anything. The photos included are only visible due to the use of a powerful external flashlight. The zoom is quite impressive. You can actually see things like germs and bacteria. Pretty cool! I think I will have to invest in a lighted petri dish. I should have gotten a clue from the lack of a solid color slide or base. You need an opaque white or black base slide for the kind of stuff I am looking to observe. The usb camera is a nice touch. You really can just open your camera app(win 10) and instantly look at things. The software comes on a mini cd which I didnt bother with. If you search “StrangeView app for pc” you can find the software pretty easy. I dont think I have the driver as I cant adjust certain settings within the app. The photos were taken through it. Seems ok enough. records video too. I…. didnt bother with the instructions…. My head started hurting. Just turn stuff and press stuff. Easy enough to figure out. Build quality is pretty solid if you arent a spastic. Treat it like a microscope and it will be there when you need it. I DID notice the overhead light seems to flicker during adjustment sometimes. I just got it last night…. Will update the review if it dies.

This is a great all around microscope. Good for home use or a class room. It’s easy to set up and to use. Great way to get you children into science. My daughter is loving it. She even brought extra slides from school to explore at home. She’s been wanting to look at all sorts of thing. It comes with all the accessories you need
to get started. Also comes in a carrying case that holds it all. Well made microscope, and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to expand their Childs mind.
