I’ve used these drives many times and they function extremely well This particular drive is used in a ubiquiti UDM Pro for the protect application and it functions well just a tad loud for this 4 terabyte drive compared to some of the others i’ve used, but I can live with that. excellent drive drive all around.

Good value and this appears to be a good drive. Easy installation. Didn’t come with a SATA cable so heads up if you are expecting to add this as a second hard drive like I was. It doesn’t seem like the tiny cost of including that is worth the hassle it causes for the customer. The only other negative was Amazon’s new and unexpected requirement to send a code number for delivery. That delayed my delivery for an extra day and was a real hassle since I actually work for a living and don’t sit around the house waiting for Amazon deliveries. Both times they sent the code just 2 or 3 hours before the driver attempted to deliver and my company doesn’t appreciate me having to mess with personal email to receive codes and then, because of an additional Amazon hassle, find someone else who can be there with the code to receive the package. I’m really coming to find working with Amazon to be more of a hassle as they implement new policies. My last Amazon purchase resulted in them delivering the wrong product and, since I wanted the product rather than a refund, it turned into a giant mess that they never did resolve. Against my objections, I just received a refund and a promise to help resolve it which they never kept.

Bought this months ago, writing review after letting the hard drive run for a while. It is by far the BEST drive I have had my hands on so far. It is extremely quiet in operation and runs so smooth and cool. This new drive replaces a 6 year old 7200rpm Sea gate that was running in a 4CH NVR on constant record 24/7 under mostly hot temperatures; after 5 years, it was running rough; had lots of vibration, and noisy – it did not fail (yet) – held up pretty good. Hope this one is same or better.
Note: The new hard drive arrived wrapped in paper bubble envelope, which was then put into an Amazon jiffy bag – not the best packaging, but the seller had good intentions, but, wow, not sure why Amazon’s final pack was in plastic bubble jiffy bag instead of a box, would you ship glass this way? (the seller and logistics should note: it is not cool to subject mechanical hard drives to physical trauma). Anyways, at $80cad it was a good deal, kind of explains for the high risks skimpy packaging. Luckily, for me the drive had no visible damage, and worked without issues so far.

Tried several hard drives TiVo couldn’t format any, keep getting all lights flashing. Finally ordered WD purple 1TB and 2tb. TiVo could not format 2tb but formatted 1TB. After formatting and play the drive was very loud, but after 2 days it became very quite. Everything seems to be working perfect. I tried the WD green drives which are scrubbed clean but stopped working 90 days from purchase. Amazon refunded price. Tried a WD green 1TB. TiVo would not format. Research on drives had all kinds of answer for why these drives didn’t work. The used ones had to be scrubbed completely clean for TiVo to format. Some drives come with an automatic shut off and TiVo can’t handle this(PISH?). Each of the drives I tried were recommended drives. My only recommendation is just keep trying until you find one that works, and buy from Amazon, so you can return for refund.
