Put it in my 8-year-old laptop and it runs like a brand new machine – or better!! (replaced a 5400 rpm hard drive). The best PC/laptop upgrade I’ve ever made. Makes a huge difference. If you have an old laptop and want to revive it, this is definitely the way to go. The laptop runs many times faster (I’d claim 10x but I don’t have hard numbers to back it up). Plus it uses less power and generates less heat. Task Manager in Windows used to show the laptop running at 100% disk usage for even simple tasks. Now it’s 5-10% disk usage. We’ll worth the cost!

I will say, upon first receiving the device, it felt like the casing of the SSD was made with a cheap-ish plastic. It felt light and fragile, but that’s to be expected, as it is not built with the same heavy metal components as an HDD. Once I plugged it into my PC, however, I could definitely notice the difference. I tested Windows 7 Home Premium on it, and it booted tremendously faster than I’ve ever seen it boon on a standard hard drive. It only sat on the boot splash screen for roughly 3-5 seconds or so (normally it would take a few minutes to boot as well as warm-up once it was on). I don’t notice any warm up time with this hard drive. Then I tested Windows 10, which boots even faster because of its “fast startup” technique. Overall, I’d say that this is a very good product and I am far from disappointed. Just make sure you know how to use a secondary HDD for storage and not the SDD itself. 120 gigs gets eaten up real fast with this thing.

I work in IT. Most people don’t know what they want or need because nothing about electronics is ever really explained. A friend of mine came to me with a decent Toshiba laptop and a standard hard disk drive (well, the 3.5″ anyways) and after routine maintenance on her computer, I identified the drop-dead slow speeds to be an indicator of a failing hard drive. It was time to replace the hard drive.

She ran an 8.1 Windows OS. Her daily usage consisted of internet browsing, sometimes on sites like Netflix and Hulu with streaming content, but most of the time she’d be visiting her bank and credit card websites so she wasn’t a heavy computer user. For something like this, I would recommend this hard drive. It’s ridiculously cheap, and maintains a lightning speed for minimal laptop use. I’d even recommend it for moderate use because, honestly, with the way electronics have to be replaced every 2-4 years, it’s just silly to drop much more than that on a hard drive.

I would only search for a better product if I were intending for a drive to go into a high-demand system or a server. High-demand systems to me are gaming systems or any system that needs to be using applications like photoshop, illustrator, etc. on a regular basis. At that point, it would make more sense to invest in a higher capacity and higher speed drive. Please keep in mind that 120 GB is not a lot of space considering how much content (photos, videos, applications) that we put on a system. If you use a cloud-based storage service for your media than this should also be a decent pick for you.

Bought this to swap into an older laptop to improve overall performance, the read and write speed as advertised might be accurate in the ideal situation however i found it more like 80% advertised read/write, no points getting knocked for that as its still immense performance.
The Capacity is absolutely fine considering it went into an old laptop (which originally had a 5400 RPM 500GB mechanical drive), overall performance has increased something wicked, I’ve partitioned the drive (virtually split it into two) and have windows as well as Ubuntu running, I will note for anyone wanting an SSD in general not just this particular one for linux (at least the debian based OS’s that Ive tried on a few different ssds) you wont notice as near as an improvement as a windows user, but still an improvement can be felt.

Drive Quality is great, the casing is nice low profile and feels premium, the pricing of these drives as well as its features make them pretty much the best priced SSD’s on the market and no real reason to go for an alternative other than maybe the color (let be real sometimes color is important especially if you’re dropping one into a gaming rig with a window).

So i pose the question why would you purchase a different SSD other than capacity ?

I bought this to go into a mid-2010 Mac mini, and it works great. (iFixit will help you with the instructions) Even though the mini only has SATA2, replacing the original 5400RPM hard drive with this SSD has made a substantial difference in the everyday performance “feel” of the computer. Programs that used to take several seconds to launch now open significantly faster. It’s not instantaneous, as we are still talking about a 2.4Ghz Core2 Duo here, but the difference is quite noticeable, and it breaths new life into old hardware. An SSD is one of the best upgrades you can do to an old PC!
    6 Month Update:
Still going strong with no noticeable change in performance. I’ve since pulled it from the Mac Mini and dropped it into a 2009 Mac Pro, modded to 5,1. This serves as my OS drive (with users being on a spinning disk), and it still runs like a champ. I’m not an intensive user of storage, but I do appreciate fast boot and application load times, which this SSD will deliver.

These SSDs work well and don’t break the bank. I used them on 7 PCs at work that were about 7 years old to keep them running longer instead of buying new ones. They speed up the PC so much, it is almost like getting a new one in most cases.

These are not as fast as the Samsung SSDs, but they are also a lot less expensive.

If you have not installed these before on a desktop PC, typically the Spinning disks are 3.5 inches and these are 2.5 inches so you may need an adapter if your case does not have 2.5 inch slot. I was able to just drill some holes in the 3.5 inch plastic bracket in the PC so that the 2.5 inch SSD would fit, so I did not have to spend any extra on adapters. If putting them into a laptop, these will most likely fit without needing an adapter, but definitely check with the manufacturer and check the thickness too. I have run into one laptop that needed a spacer to make the SSD thicker or it would not fit and would not make contact, but i think that is pretty rare (but this one does not come with a spacer). This one is 7mm thick so you may not end up with a laptop that requires a thinner drive, but I would verify with the manufacturer just to make sure.

These do not come with cloning software, but I recommend doing a clean install of the OS anyway and that is what I did in all but one case and I did clone the disk from one PC that had been recently re-imaged with software that I got included with another brand of SSD and that worked great.

I purchased 7 of these and had no DOA drives and no problems so far running them everyday in a business setting.

Everybody knows what a SSD can do. It will change your PC completely & without using, you will not feel or understand the true power of it. If you have a good budget then go for Evo 960/970 Series. Those are fastest SSDs’ you will ever see. But if our budget is low & cant compromise the performance also, this Sandisk Plus becomes best choice.
I am using it as a OS Drive only, for storing I have 3 HDD + 4 Ex. HDD. SSD Cost/GB are too high so HDD are better for storing movies, games & Songs.
Now if I say about packaging, its not too great. Amazon Packaging of electronic items are bad now-a-days. Delivery time is perfect as expected.
Sandisk Plus is very light SSD ( feels like a biscuit in hand). No Screws are provided with the package so you have to manage it yourself. I have not tested its read/write speed because if I copy something from my HDD then HDD will bottleneck. Transfer rate from Sandisk Ultra OTG pendrive to SSD is 150mbps (which is the max speed limit of the Pendrive). Windows installation was very quick (Less then 8 min). Booting time of my is now approximately 10-12 Sec. Biggest change in my PC is, operating speed of day to day work. Now, I can open any apps just after unlocking my PC (SSD never takes refresh time like HDDs), its too fast to open explorer/apps/videos, in case of HDD you cant do or open anything right after starting your PC but here is SSD these things are happened in fractions of second so we will not feel.
I just tried to explain you what changes we will feel after using a SSD & you will not regret it if u buy this SSD.
