I originally purchased this PSU for building a system on top of a 5600x. Originally I believed my issues with building were related to a faulty motherboard, then perhaps a DOA CPU? Turns out I was entirely wrong both times, replacing the power supply I was able to get one of the motherboards I’d purchased for the build working, but neither the processor nor original motherboard would work. I had these parts POST tested at microcenter on purchase and they seemed to work fine, so my assumption is that the Toughpower GF1 failed to regulate its power and discharged way too much into the initial board, because the subsequent attempts all had an incredibly obnoxious coil whine present.
That said, if you get a working one I’m sure it’s fine, but buyer beware with QA like that. The cables were a little rigid, but nothing horrible or unworkable. I like Thermaltake products generally so I was incredibly disappointed, since this was the first time I’d had something from them arrive with such a fault.

Just finished building a new computer and wanted a power supply that would have LED controlled by the MB. Got this installed, flipped the switch and heard a click like a relay and nothing happened. Pulled everything apart, checked all my connections which were fine and tried it again. This time I got a click and a snap noise. I suspected the PS was no good, so re-installed my old one. The power light on the board came on, flashed a couple times, got real dim then went out. Nothing started up, not even the fans or water pump or a single light. Tried 2 other PS units I had, same thing. Tried them all ( except for the new PS ) in my older computer and everything powered up fine. I pulled everything down and tested everything individually on my bench, turns out the board and processor are now junk, as well as my new vid card.
Motherboard- MSI MEG Z490 ACE
Processor- Intel i9-10900F
Video- EVGA RTX 2080
I sent a letter To Thermaltake, told to return to Amazon which I did, but also told I had to contact the other manufacturers about replaceing the components that THEIR power supply fried. So far I’m out about $2k and don’t see them replacing components damaged by another vendors unit. Use caution buying from here, the warranty seems to change when purchased from Amazon or Ebay.

Finally tried to boot up my first ever custom loop pc after 6 months of saving, buying and researching components. No POST, couldn’t enter BIOS. Agonized for 3 days before taking it to a professional. PSU was pushing voltages “way too high, you’re lucky you didn’t fry your motherboard”. Now the return window is closed and I’m stuck with a bad PSU and non working pc. Going with Seasonic now. They’re more reliable.
TLDR: looks pretty, doesn’t work. Would not recommend

I bought this new psu thinking I’d be good for an upgrade… unfortunately this piece of crap didn’t work I was told it was the mb so I replaced it then it was the cpu… but what it actually was this brand new piece of crap… apparently I missed the return window and Amazon said they msg me to help return but that didn’t happen… also I left 3 voice mail to tech support with no help from the manufacturer… basically don’t buy this item, honestly I’m done with this brand of hardware.
