this powered USB hub has individually switchable ports, so that if you’re using it only off of the USB port on your computer you can limit the power it draws. But if you’re using the plug-in AC adapter to power this hub that’s not an issue.
This hub does not introduce any latency in the USB signal, it works like a charm.
For many people it may be overkill, but getting anything smaller you can run out of ports quickly.

Working very well.

Very nice unit. Sturdy, well-built, and nice for managing multiple devices. I can leave all my external USB drives connected and power on only those I need at the moment. Saves wrangling cables and allows the unused drives to remain off until it’s time to use them.
(I’m on Debian Linux, so be sure to select your equivalent of ‘Safely Remove’ hard drives before pushing the power button for the port where it is connected.)
Great value.

Worked great for 2.5 years. Added 7 USB3 ports to my PC. Seems like everything is USB so I needed extra ports. Sadly, about 6 months ago, USB 3 devices stopped working. They powered up, but no communication. USB 2 devices though, still work, so I suppose it is the internal circuitry. I checked the port it was plugged into on the computer to be sure it was USB 3, and changed to another USB 3 port, but still no USB functionality in the device. I noticed this first when a High quality, 256g USB3 thumb drive quit working. It still worked in a USB 2 port, but had all sorts of errors on the USB3 port. I believe this hub damaged the circuitry in the thumb drive. It no longer works on any USB 3 port, then stopped working on USB2. Then I noticed that none of my USB 3 devices worked on this hub. So I have no proof, but I believe this hub’s internal circuitry failed and damaged my thumb drive. So disappointed, because until this incident, this was a great hub. Heavy wiring, came with power supply, worked flawlessly until it didn’t. I am considering replacing it with this same model, but not sure. I have 10 year old USB 2 hubs still working well, and I don’t know if this brand is an issue, or maybe similar brands have the same chipset and prone to the same issues. If you ask me a year ago, I would of been 5 stars and a hearty recommendation. BTW, the hub is on a UPS system and surge protected. The port it was connected to is on the motherboard, and the port is fine. So it did not damage my PC or port. Since I use a lot of USB 3 devices now, I am going to remove this, as using it as a USB 2 hub is not useful.

I had been looking for a decent powered USB hub and this one is perfect! It has many ports including a specific charging port and you can easily toggle off individual ports!

I’ve been using the Atolla Powered USB Hub for over two years now, and it’s still working perfectly. This hub has become an essential part of my setup, providing seamless connectivity for all my devices. With its seven ports, including one smart charging port, I can easily connect my laptop, external hard drives, mouse, keyboard, and more, all at the same time.
One of the features I appreciate the most is the individual on/off switches for each port. This allows me to power off specific devices without unplugging them, which is incredibly convenient for managing power consumption and device connectivity. The switches are responsive and easy to use, adding an extra layer of control to my setup.
Moreover, the included 5V/4A power adapter ensures stable and reliable performance, even when all ports are in use simultaneously. I’ve never experienced any power-related issues or fluctuations, which speaks volumes about the hub’s build quality and reliability.
Overall, the Atolla Powered USB Hub 3.0 has exceeded my expectations in terms of functionality, durability, and convenience. It’s a reliable and versatile hub that has seamlessly integrated into my setup, making it a must-have accessory for anyone looking to expand their connectivity options.

There are other reviews that show the data transfer speed. My review is to let potential users know the dimensions of the hub and the lengths of the cables. It’s important to know the length of the cables since the purpose may be to bring a USB3 port on the back of a tower computer to the front for easy access. Hub: 6-1/4″L x 1-3/4″W x 1″H. USB3 cable is 40″ long. Power cable is 49″ long.
The 4 port Atolla USB3 hub that I bought has a 24″ long USB3 cable which is too short to bring a back port on a tower computer to the front.
