Lots of storage, fast, and reliable.

Iโve been a long time fan of Western Digital hard drives and have never really had any luck with seagate drives. I ordered 4 of these to replace my 8 year old Western digital 4TB NAS drives to expand my exploding digital footprint. They are still running in perfect working order. I must commend amazon on the packaging and delivery. I was a bit concerned after reading some older reviews. As you can see from the pictures, they were securely packaged up well.
The drives themselves have passed extensive read/write tests without so much as a hiccup. One thing to note however, is that this hard drive tends to be a little nosier. More than likely due to additional platters compared to the 4TB variant. Also important to clarify that this review is for the CMR version.

I recently added the Western Digital 14TB WD Red Pro NAS Internal Hard Drive to my home NAS system, and it has proven to be a stellar addition to my storage setup. The drive lives up to the “Pro” in its name, providing reliable performance and ample storage capacity for my needs.
First and foremost, the drive itself operates quietly, a feature that is appreciated in any home setup. While the housing I chose for the drive could use a bit of improvement, the internal workings of the WD Red Pro drive are where it truly shines. It seamlessly integrates into my NAS system, delivering consistent and efficient performance.
Setting up a home NAS system with these drives was a breeze, even for someone with basic knowledge of storage systems. The user-friendly nature of the WD Red Pro series makes it accessible for those looking to establish emergency backups for crucial family information or simply expand their storage capabilities.
Having opted for a total of 4 drives for my NAS, the storage capacity has proven more than sufficient for my data needs. The reliability and consistency of WD drives have been a constant in all my systems over the years, and the WD Red Pro series is no exception. It’s a trusted brand that excels in the field of storage solutions.
In conclusion, the Western Digital 14TB WD Red Pro NAS Internal Hard Drive is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a high-capacity, reliable storage solution. With the ease of setup and the brand’s proven track record for quality products, it’s a solid investment for both enthusiasts and those looking to secure their family’s crucial information. I highly recommend WD Red Pro drives for anyone in need of professional-grade storage performance.

Used WD Red Drives for 20 years and they still are in production, great drives for reliability.
These 14TB have solid and consistent performance and decently quiet, makes little thumping noises so not terrible but not whisper quiet like the WD Red Plus drives they replaced.

I’ve been a long time purchaser of WD drives. I’ve owned many. This drive uses older technology, but still was a worthy upgrade for my QNAP NAS. I have a 2 slot in Raid. I had 2- 4 TB drives WD reds. I pulled one drive to test about 3 month ago, and the NAS did not recover well… The one drive had read errors, so I decided it was time to upgrade. It was a total cluster F* to upgrade, but, I now have more than doubled my NAS space, so it was overall worth it.
I took 1 star off as the old WD 4 TB RED drives had a disk failure after 3 year on a rarely used NAS, the drive had only recorded 30 hours of Write time. Overall I’m happy with the red drives, but if these new drive don’t last 5 years or more, I won’t buy WD RED anymore.

Setting this up was a walk in the park, user-friendly enough for even the most tech-averse. It’s like having a friendly storage wizard guiding you through the process, whether you’re aiming to safeguard precious family data or just giving your digital library room to grow.
With five of these titans in my NAS, I’m swimming in a sea of storage space. It’s like having your own digital Fort Knox, reliable and unflinching. WD has been a constant companion in my tech journey, and the Red Pro series upholds that legacy with aplomb.
In short, the Western Digital 20TB WD Red Pro is like the Rolls Royce of NAS hard drives โ luxurious in capacity, whisper-quiet in operation, and reliable to its core. For anyone seeking the pinnacle of storage solutions, this is it. WD Red Pro doesn’t just meet expectations; it sails right past them into the stratosphere.

I use it in a Sabrent Disk Doc. Haven’t yet tested its speed, but so far seems reasonably fast. The thing I noticed is that in the disk doc, its vibrations can be felt all over the desk.

I purchased two of these drives for an Nas and they installed and worked exactly as expected. Specs were as stated and I had no issues with the installation or use. Great quality Drive at a fair price.

My level with servers is that of an absolute amateur. I don’t need instantaneous speed, high uptime, or needing to handle high loads during a peak time. I use my NAS as a repository to stream movies on plex occasionally, store home photos and videos, and back up phone data across my family.
While I cannot speak for those with more nuanced intricacies, I can highly recommend this for those at my level – to those who dabble in storing family data. The high storage capacity is perfect for RAID arrays, which has already helped once when an older drive failed due to other hardware difficulties. The rebuild was flawless. In addition, even when bulk information goes through the drives, the drives are never that loud. It’s great for home use and is barely even noticeable.
5/5 for surviving consistent uptime, good data storage for the price, and being low volume.
