I’ll begin by saying, I am a big fan of Black & Decker products. I have many of their cordless tools, and a cordless self-propelled lawn mower that has been going strong for 11 years on the original battery.
When I began my search for portable AC units for my kids’ rooms, I came across the B &D models and didn’t hesitate to purchase 2. This is now our 2nd season with these units and I have not been disappointed.
These units are powerful. When the outside temperature was approaching 100, their rooms stayed a very comfortable 68.
Set up was simple. My son’s room has a sliding window. The window kit that came with the unit was perfect. We had the AC installed and running in under 5 minutes. My daughter’s room has a crank out window, so I purchased the Homee Universal Window Seal to install hers. The window seal took slightly longer to install, but the seal works great! At the end of the season we’ll just roll them into their closets until next year.
Having had both window and portable ACs, this is about average for noise level. Once the room reaches the desired temperature, the compressor kicks down and it operates pretty quietly.
These units are very energy efficient. Prior to purchasing these units, we used window and tower fans to cool their rooms. My electric bill has dropped by about 1/3 since installing these units.
In all, I am very satisfied with the units and expect they will serve us as well as the other Black and Decker products we own.

The unit arrived quickly (a couple of days after ordering it; 👍way to go, Amazon!). It took me under an hour to haul package in, inbox it, read the instructions, attach the hose and window bar, install it and crank it up. The instructions were relatively easy to follow, and, once it was turned on, it cooled the area effectively. Easy care notes for maintaining the unit are included on a separate sheet to prolong the life of the air conditioner, including info about cleaning the filters and using the drain at the bottom every couple of weeks to drain off excess water from high humidity days in service. A good purchase for anyone looking for a portable A/C.

Okay I have had this unit for almost a full week now highest temp outside hitting 88 so I will update you when we reach 90’s-100’s.
But overall this thing is a life savor in my boiling apartment. I was so skeptical because the reviews are I mean pretty bad and with something that’s over $100 it’s very easy to convince me to take something out my cart but I’m glad I followed through with this one. I turn this bad boy on and get in the shower and come back to my whole 3 bedroom upstairs go from very uncomfortable to cool and balanced. When I close my bedroom door it takes less then 30 minutes to have my bedroom from HELL to I nice fall day 🤣. I’m honestly starting to think the bad reviews maybe didn’t install it correctly or don’t have it on the correct settings because my bedroom is over the recommended square ft. And it’s definitely cooling my room down pretty fast.!
NOISE: Now I will admit this thing is a little noisy but personally I like the sound because it helps me sleep but if you’re a silent sleeper then I Wouldn’t recommend this unit. If you can get past it you won’t regret it !!!

Recommended to me by a friend, I bought this when the heat wave happened. Since then I’ve been turning this unit on around high 75F+, and it cools my room within 5-15 mins. My room is about 11ft x 11ft. I haven’t done my research yet, but in my opinion it’s safe to assume that this unit is mostly meant for smaller to mid-sized rooms. I wouldn’t buy this unit for a living room size simply because of the BTU’s. The unit will work as intended but won’t cool the room nearly as fast. As I’ve said, I haven’t done much research so take my review with a grain of salt. I also keep this on during the night for 2 hours. There’s a night function that puts the fan at the slowest speed and turns down the brightness of the screen on the unit. The unit is kind of loud still at the lowest setting, so if you’re a light sleeper (MAYBE) look for a quieter unit. For me, I’ve gotten used to the sound and it kind of adds background noise. Lastly, I feel like the controls and design of the remote could’ve been better, I recommend reading the manual to learn the controls. Also I wish that the screen on the remote was LED, it kind of gets annoying to use at night when you want to adjust the temperature but you can’t see. Overall, I’m satisfied: the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

It’s a great size for the bedroom if it’s really humid out you have to empty it 1 time a week it’s easy to empty it’s small and light weight..it’s kinda loud at night I got used to it ..it cools down my room fast

We live on a lake shore near Seattle and never thought we needed an air conditioner. Recent 100 degree plus temperatures proved it was needed. There was some delay by UPS in receiving it. Our master doesn’t have windows but has a large sliding glass door. I didn’t trust using the window mounting supplied for the vent hose. Purchased a stained 5 1\2 in siding wood and with about 2 hours labor and it worked great. I made a second mounting board for the living room sliding window, cost about $10. It is easy to move conditioner to either location. Love it.
