My old toaster, a long, sleek black one, finally just died, forcing me to find something else. My new one, the Russell Hobbs Glass Accent Long Slot 2-slice Toaster, was selected because it was the winner on America’s Test Kitchen’s long slot toaster (I’d never heard of it – it’s British). It’s shiny and attractive – a little larger than I had expected. It can handle two slices at a time, different sizes of breads, has a setting just for bagels, another one for frozen bread, it toasts evenly, and bread jumps out of toaster when ready (but back in). The different settings make it a little complicated, but it’s not a lot to learn (keep the instruction manual, though, especially if you have the long side perpendicular to the wall). It also has a bun holder that sits on top of the toaster for items like croissants, muffins, etc. to warm without toasting them, which is k/o unique! I wasn’t sure that it would be sturdy, but it seems to be fine after 2-3 months. One minor warning: If you warm or toast “iced” sweet bread, it will drip on the insides of the toaster, which isn’t easy to clean. For most bread, though, there is a small, easily removable tray in the bottom to remove for cleaning. It costs about $50, reasonable for a fancy toaster, more than you need to pay for a regular one.

This is the best toaster I think Iโve ever owned & Iโve had some costing double the price of this one. Itโs very fast in toasting the bread so quickly that the toast is never dried out. Itโs a nice slim size & hugs the wall. Its not as wide as a regular two slice toaster. It toasts the long breads perfectly, no need to cut the specialty bread in half to fit into a regular two slice toaster. Itโs very pleasing to the eye so I donโt mind it staying on my counter. I am very happy with it. It costs a little more than some but well worth the extra in cost.

I like the single large slot. I never thought much about toasters until my $12 hardware store special made such poor unevenly cooked toast. This toaster works well and has a decent quality feel about it.

Toasts fast and even, if slice not too big. My complaint is that it always defaults to “level 4” toasting. So if you generally use a different setting, you have to adjust each use. Feels a bit tinny, and for the price I think it should be Stainless steel not aluminum

We’ve had this toaster for a couple of months now and really like it. I am surprised how much we use the top warming rack. We buy fresh bread from a local baker and it’s too thick for most any toaster. We just place it on the warming rack. We toast bagel fairly often and have found the bagel setting really nice. The eject button is also very useful. And finally, it’s better looking than your standard toasters.

This toaster is stunning, makes great toast and takes up very little counter space. A real kitchen jewel!
Amazon Customer –
The toaster is beautiful to look at. It’s as nice out of the box as it appears in the pictures. The problem is it’s poorly designed and does not function for anything other than plain toast.
Perhaps it’s user error, but you have to set “doneness” every time you make you use it. The toast will always cook at the highest temperature unless you change the setting each time. How is it that 15.00 toasters remember?
Biggest problem is the slot. It’s not deep enough (front to back) to accommodate American big bagels or thick slices of cut bread. They don’t fit into the slot. Even if they do (even if you press them down), they end up getting burned. The problem is even worse if you put in frozen bread.
I had a Kitchenaid single slot toaster for years. Never had this problem. Lucky it wasn’t thrown out.
VERY DISAPPOINTED.

it works great, does what i want it to do, only thing to watch out is how long the bread s in the toster.

I bought this toaster based on its review by America’s test Kitchen. They got it so right. I’m not as picky as they are but all the pieces of bread look the same, one piece vs. another front and back, identical. I’ve not used the bagel or frozen item buttons but I’m not concerned based on the toast produced. Love it.

Really like how this looks and the limited space that it (seems) to take up.
That said, as noted by others, it does not do its primary function (toast) all that well:
– Defaults to 4 of 6 darkness setting which does not darken at all and barely will melt applied butter. Setting 6 gets bread a little brown. I need to run two cycles of 4 to get desired color.
– Toasting a single slice leads to somewhat brown toast and burned crust on the side.
– If you use it more than twice in succession the body gets very hot thus increasing the space needed around the unit.
