I had 3 drives degraded on one night, weirdest thing ever. Previous drives had no problem for years, only changed them to increase capacity

Lo he utilizado en un NAS DS918+ de Synology.
Funciona perfectamente.

This drive is pretty noisy, and I haven’t been able to set up the drives in RAID 1 not sure what the error is

I bought this drive about a week ago from another site. Along with a few other enterprise drives that I’ve bought over the years, they all continue to work to this day. I anticipate the same from this one. I also have a Seagate hybrid drive though that one just started reporting a bad block a few days ago. I ran a repair utility that seems to have cleared the issue but my confidence is not the same with that other class of HDD.
The speed is impressive. Its bandwidth is nearly as fast as my SSD. Obviously, its latency is going to be a lot more but that’s why I’m using the SSD for the OS while the HDDs are used for storage.
The enterprise class drives have typically cost twice that of Seagate’s own desktop drives but they’re worth it for me. Short of building a RAID5, I just want to feel secure in knowing that the data is on a quality hard disk drive.
One quick side note, as of today (2/17/2016), the price on this 8TB disk, has been volatile. I’ve seen them go from just over $400, to over $550. If you’re looking to save money, keep your eyes open for the apparently brief moments when the drive is less expensive.

I received the drive July 24, 2019. When I put the serial number details into Seagate to register for the 5 year warranty, Seagate reported that the warranty is only valid until June 02, 2023. This means that this drive that was sold to me as new had already been reported to Seagate as sold to someone else over 1 year ago.
As a result, I only have 3.86 years on the warranty, not 5 years.

When one of these drives that I got over 5 years ago started to have issues, I ordered this identical part to replace it. Unlike my earlier experience, with a brand new drive that worked perfectly – this time I got a still working drive that its internal hardware monitoring statistics show has already been used for over 20,000 hours. (I paid for a new drive too, not the $40 less for a “renewed” one). I returned it to Amazon and just got a different Seagate 8TB drive that correctly show zero hours of use in its statics, as it should. Most disappointed to find someone selling an old, near worn out drive as new – that’s not right!

Pour la petite difference de prix entre un 8To personnel et celui ci ca vaut la peine.

Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD 8TB is an outstanding HDD for mass storage. I bought two 8Tb drives for my Synology NAS system. They were easy to install and run very quietly. I am very satisfied with these HDDs.

I bought 4 of these drives to use in a backup unit. Only had the product for about a week but all seems good so far.
