I bought this last year and already started problem with the whistle, there is a leakage of steam where the rubber gasket and the steam is escaping and food is not getting cooked or getting burned because the steam is leaking. I really wish Amazon takes the action of the faulty product. Not sure if I can return?

I’m using this cooker for over a month and really satisfied with the purchase. Overall quality of the product is very good and cooking time is very less. Follow the cooking time as mentioned in the manual and it just works.

This Hawkins Futura Pressure Cooker appears to be an exceptionally good piece of kit to have in my kitchen. I bought the bigger version, the 5.5 litre capacity cooker. The lids actually closes from the inside giving this a solid seal. We previously bought a Prestige pressure cooker and never used it because it felt fiddly, and cumbersome. This Hawkins on the other hand gives me a sense of security. From my physics calculations, there is about a 1000 kg (yes 1 ton) of force inside a cooker when it is being used! This ‘Futura’ looks like it will handle the job. I am only going to use it for briskets and other meat joints. So I am pleased with the cavernous internal volume. I am also glad that it does not comes with more cluttering internal compartments etc. I don’t want to pay for those when I don’t need them. I am never going to do vegan preparations with lentils and other high oxalate poisons!! I am all for a carnivorous diet. Fantastic product! I have seen Prestige pressure cooker in John Lewis but not this brand Hawkins. Even though this is twice as expensive as other brands, I still think this is fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.

The media could not be loaded.

It is heavy, but not much heavier than the similarly sized aluminum version. (2.6 kg vs 2.3 kg for the aluminum version).

Watch where you are pointing it when you are releasing pressure, the steam goes quite a distance horizontally.

    Cleaning:
While more dishwasher-safe than the aluminum version, the manual still doesn’t recommend doing so because of the plastic handles. With other pressure cookers, I always worry I will slip while cleaning and the weight will fall into the sink’s disposal. The extra handle on the weight makes it more difficult for that to happen. Remember to clean the underside of the rim – out of sight, out of mind.

If you plan on using the included recipe booklet or recipes from Hawkin’s excellent website, they are sized for the 5 Liter cooker. Easier to just get the larger model than multiply everything by 4/5 or stuff it all into the cooker.

I considered Kuhn Rikon and Fissler but in the end purchased this pressure cooker, a trusted Indian brand. It comes with a clear & detailed instruction manual. After a couple of tries, I was able to open and close the lid easily. It is nice and large, roomy enough to put separators in. The construction is rugged, and its a gleaming high quality stainless steel beauty. I can’t say enough good things about this product – highly recommend.

I purchased this cooker because I plan to transition to induction cooking very soon. I’ve used Hawkins cookers in the past and found them to be of good quality. However, this cooker has a serious defect that other reviewers have also mentioned – it leaks steam from the rim. I didn’t notice this defect the first couple of times I used it. But I started noticing it during subsequent use. I returned the cooker and Amazon accepted my return even though the return date had passed. Thank you Amazon for providing excellent customer support.

Fantastic pressure cooker. Safe lid design, works on many types of heat and is my favorite vessel for cooking. Company was very good to work with. Highly recommend this pressure cooker.

This was a bad buy for us. We had a previous non stainless steel one and it lasted 4 years. While this one seems to be a defective one with steam letting out through the sides resulting in water coming out as well, making the cooker unusably bad. I am past the return date and i hope i can get an exchange. I will change my review if that happens!

I hope i can get the SELLER’s attention and a refund/replacement on this item.

I even attempted to get a second one under the assumption that my first one was defective, but the SECOND one had the exact same problem – and this time, I made sure I returned it!

Still waiting for a return/refund on my first purchase

Using it for a month and 4 to 5 times a week. Its a very good product. Sauteing before pressure cooking is much better than other stainless steel utensils I have. Also I own 3 other hawkin pressure cookers 2 of which are hard anodized futura and one is normal Hawkins pressure cooker in different sizes for almost 10 years but now I don’t use any other one. Hawkins is the best pressure cooker brand!

always had a hawkins. got an additional one for small meals. works well. very satisfied. took me a while to get used to the fact that it doesn’t whistle like the normal hawkins. but got used to it now. food cooks well with this without a fuss.

Beautiful, durable and energy saving also. It really cooks very fast. Since there are no unit whistles and instead there is one small continuous whistle as a result there is less sound and splashing of contents. It can also be made to cool down really fast. It might be more costlier than other cookers but Futura sub brand is the best quality, most beautiful and extremely durable product by Hawkins. Also we have used Hawkins brand cookers over generations and I can vouch that parts like, gasket, fuse and other parts are easily available.
