This drive did an excellent job ripping my CD collection of 30 years. Some things were marked “In-accurate” in the dBpoweramp CD ripper software, but still sounded fine. Great software for ripping, btw. Well worth the money as well. Easy to use all around (both drive and software). Window 11 user

Laptops no longer have DVD drives. I’m old-school and like CDs. This works great. Plug and play installation on my ThinkPad Lenovo.

This did not work with my Evolve III laptop, probably due to USB ports not providing enought power. Worked perfectly with my HP desktop. Had diffiulty writing DVDs. You need to get some “real” burner software (not the built in Windows 10 features) for this to work correctly. I downloaded the free version of Ashampoo and this worked fine. Still have trouble burning DVD-R, but DVD+R works fine. I bought this because of the great price and because of that I can’t really complain.

Bei meinem neuen PC war standardmäßig kein CD-DVD-Laufwerk eingebaut.
Um aber weiter meine vorhanden Geräte mit neuen CD/DVD brennen sowie vorhandene Scheiben auslesen zu können, benötigte ich daher ein externes Gerät.
Zum Gerät:
Schlicht gehaltenes leichtes flaches Gehäuse aus Kunststoff – funktionell mit kurzem Anschlusskabel
Bei Betrieb hörbar aber angenehme Lautstärke
Adapter USB A auf USB C ist beigelegt
Bisherige Erfahrung:
Mit WIN 11 wurde das Gerät ohne Probleme erkannt – einfaches Plug and Play ohne Treiberinstallation
Meine alten CD/DVD (gebrannt vor ca. 15 Jahre) wurden problemlos abgespielt/ausgelesen
Brennen sowie löschen (mit Nero) einer CD-RW ebenfalls problemlos
Mein Fazit:
Das externe Amicool DVD-Laufwerk ist günstig und für meine Zwecke völlig ausreichend
Es kann je nach Bedarf an PC/Laptops und weiter Geräten mit USB A/C angeschlossen werden,
wobei ich natürlich nur einige vorhandene Geräte testen konnte.
Wie bereits bei anderen Bewertungen geschrieben kann auch ich noch keine Aussage zwecks
Langlebigkeit geben, da das Gerät bei mir erst ein paar Wochen in Einsatz ist.
Ich kann das Gerät ohne Einschränkung empfehlen, lediglich ein längeres Verbindungskabel wäre
wünschenswert.

It simply works! Plug it in, my Mac reads it. Although it feels rather fragile, with proper handling it shouldn’t be an issue.
NOTE: On Macs the CD/DVD must be ejected by right clicking the icon on the screen rather than pushing the eject button.

Super Preis-Leistung. Funktioniert einwandfrei. Einstecken und loslegen. Toll finde ich, das man das Kabel auf der Rückseite des Geräts komplett einlegen kann.

A very portable external USB DVD/CD drive. Plug and Play – it’s that simple!
Great product for the price. Works well for old CDs that have old pictures and documents or just watching DVD movies. Its size makes it easy to pack up and travel, and plug in and have it sit on top of your desktop or nearby. The disk trey, like all disk treys, feels a little flimsily but it is solid – just don’t mistake it for a cup holder!
Runs fairly quiet and fast. Overall, a good external DVD/CD drive and does exactly what it is supposed to do!
Now a days, most PC’s don’t come with a DVD/CD drive built in, this is a great option!

I had to write a review bc it works great with my macbook and my pc. Love that it has two different cords that’s built in and when you’re done, you can just tuck it underneath the dvd player. Straight to the point, no complications once you plug it in and doesn’t sound loud or vibrate like crazy when it’s playing. Must get if you’re trying to watch dvd’s on a computer/laptop!!! 10/10
