Extreme Critic –
I have owned this kettle for about 2 weeks and have no problems. I use it once a day. I find the water takes minimal time to boil. I have never timed it but it is quick. It does everything it claims to do in the product description. I have no issues with the opening of the lid, button works well. People commented on the on off switch….I have no issues to report.
Immediately after taking the kettle out of the box, it was clear that this kettle looked great. It is “crystal clear” as stated. it looks great. I had a similar style kettle from a store and this kettle looks much better than anything I found from a department store. It boils water faster than my old kettle and even is cleaner without as much build up of calcium. I wash my kettle about once a week and there is little to no calcium build up as compared to the old kettle.
I guess its true what they say about you get what you pay for. This kettle was about 3 or 4 times more expensive then department store brand ones but its well worth it. There is a noticeable difference. I would recommend this kettle to others. It states that its BPA free from parts that touch the water which is great news. For the price though I wish the company went the extra mile and made it 100% BPA free.
I don’t think you can go wrong if you bought this kettle

I was concerned about my husband breaking a glass kettle but so far he has not. It’s very attractive and boils very quickly. Some other reviewers have mentioned a “plastic smell”. I also noticed that coming from the lid but after two boils (discarding the water) and a good soapy wash of the lid it’s gone. It’s easy to pick up, the weight feels right and the handle is ergonomically perfect for 130 lb me. I tested pouring a full kettle with and without the filter in place and while pouring slowly and quickly. It poured perfectly every time. Seems like a great kettle so far. I bought the metal version for someone else and will wait to see if I wish I had gotten that one instead but so far I love the glass one. I’ll report back when I hear how she likes it.

PROS
-boils water very quickly
-easy to see when it’s starting to boil
-rotates freely on the base
-large (1.7L) – bigger than an average 1.5L kettle
-auto turn off
-soft-opening lid
CONS
-glass is hot to touch (obviously)
-lid breaks easily
-won’t turn off automatically if the lid is left open while boiling
Bought this kettle 2 years ago, using it every day. it still works great with one exception – the lid with soft opening now slams open. the lid design seemed ok, but apparently it isn’t. Another problem with the lid – if it’s open while the kettle is boiling, it won’t turn off automatically.
The full kettle (1.7-1.8L) boils in about 1.5 – 2 minutes. It’s also easy to see when the water is starting to boil and turn it off to avoid wasting electricity.
Overall, I’d recommend this kettle.

There is nothing about the product that does not stand the claims! I ordered it with the Fellow’s Clyde to test them. Breville’s for its ergonomic simplicity and expected quality (have a few Breville kitchen gadgets, still superb), Clyde for its modern cool look and unique whistling. Breville boils 2min and 10 sec faster, has somewhat larger capacity, has a filter at the pouring spout (can make tea from loose leaves), very solid quality feel to touch (the lid closes slowly and elegantly, the pitcher fits in the bottom part without a bit of wiggle), no whistle needed (the boiling water makes a enough noise through the large spout to be heard in the next room, and the it aurtomatically shuts off after 10sec of boiling). The Clyde boils slower, wide enough to fit on any size stove top without having gas flames come up and around the kettle, the handle does stay cool irrelevant to how long you leave the water boiling, the stainless steel felt a little lighter than expected, the whistling technology of two different tones is unique and cool, a bit less loud than the traditional. The Breville won me over, especially after I remembered that a modern elegant kettle that had a handle beak off just by itself I ordered a few months ago, was from Fellow… I trust the Breville quality.

I’ve had this kettle for six years, since 2015, and it’s been a champ. Never a problem, never a leak, always fast (1800 W) and good looking, too. Finally, in the past month, the top has stopped springing open. It still opens and closes, and it is still perfectly functional, but now I need to manually open it rather than using the lid-opener button. I’ll probably replace it with the same model. Kettles don’t have an easy life, and this one has really stood the test of time.

I got this Breville water kettle to replace one I loved, but it was time to move on to a new style and brand. Breville is that new brand for me.
Funny story: I was in Home Goods and saw this for a really good price. I didn’t get it but wanted to, and I had a perfectly functional one with no space to store an extra. Then, I saw this on Prime Day for an even better price and I said “screw it, I’ll buy this and store it until the current one breaks.” No sooner did I think that that my current one stopped working. Our household tried to fix it and it was dead. But it wasn’t a bother because now I had this new Breville water kettle timed just right to replace it.
The kettle holds up to seven cups of water. There are lines printed on the glass to help you measure, and a significant portion is empty for all the boiling bubbliness to happen. You flick it on and a white light lights up until it’s done. You then pour your water out as needed. When you refill, there is a nicely engineered top that slowly and satisfyingly opens up when you press the open button.
Overall, it works fast and it looks beautiful. My only “complaint” is I wish different finishes were offered to match my other Breville items. Recommended.

Super super love my kettle! A bit difficult to reach the bottom to clean it thoroughly after use but it works amazing and it warms up very fast and it just fits in beautifully with my other appliances on my counter! I love being a prime member, it came so quickly and packaged up well! The only hiccup I’ve come across is you cannot fill it to the max line with water. I’d say go a good half inch below. Just in the heating process how it throws the water around inside it will spill out the top. If the lid perhaps fully closed off at the top then this would be resolved. Perhaps for their second model they may consider this. But over all 10/10 would buy again if I had to look for another kettle!

Great replacement for my Zojriushi water boiler and warmer. I originally used a water boiler because I didn’t have to heat up a kettle and wait. I simply left the water in the boiler and pressed a button and I had warm or hot water anytime I needed. However, after long term use, the Zojirushi became more cumbersome to clean. Since I had hard water, this made it even more difficult because of the constant mineral build up. I was concerned about the flaky mineral build up that came with the dispensed water. This is when I came across Breville’s clear electric kettle. The glass is the most impressive part of this kettle. It made it easy to clean. The only part that is difficult to clean is the bottle of the kettle near the edges and a long pipe near the handle. The opening is large enough that I can reach my entire hand inside and scrub off any residual mineral deposit. And the side of the glass is really easy to clean. I would simply take a soft scrub and rub off the mineral deposits on the stainless steel at the bottle of the kettle. This Breville product is very impressive, along with the design and ease of use. I was also concerned with a possible metallic after taste with metal water kettles, so this was a great option. So far, the unit works perfectly. I can heat up only the water that I need, whether it’s 2 cups or an entire liter.
Here is a rundown of the good and the bad:
Good:
– Easy to clean
– Mostly glass and stainless steel. The only parts that are plastic is the lid, if people are concerned with BPA from plastics.
– Easy to use, one push of the button to boil water.
– No unnecessary sounds, the water will simply stop boiling when done.
– Water remains hot for a long period of time after boiling.
– Easy to take in and out of the main unit.
Bad:
– Costs more than comparable glass water kettles but well worth the price.
– The cord is a bit short, so you can have it too far from a plug.
Overall, I would recommend this product. Good job Breville!
