As shown in the video, the product arrived with imperfections on it. This video was taken right after I removed the tool from its packaging.
I had purchased it to help me cut through sod but I ended up just using my usual garden knife because the blade on this tool wasn’t sharp enough.

Ten years ago, I received on of these from a professional daylily grower as a promotion. Note: TEN years ago. From professionals who dig MASSIVE volumes of plants. In ten years, this knife never once bent. I planted hundreds of plants with it. It scratched and pitted, but it didn’t really rust. Finally, after ten years of sawing through roots and digging holes, it began to grow dull, and I knew it was time to seek its replacement. I didn’t even know what brand it was and assumed it was from a professional supplier until I stumbled on the picture on Amazon. Victory! I bought one for me, one for my daughter, and I plan to make this a go-to gift. It would be a perfect gift for a new home-owner–a true multi-tool. Love this. Happy Gardening!
I received absolutely no compensation for this review.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I paid half of the current price. This price factors into my star rating.
I did receive the correct product in a timely manner. But, the cardboard was torn, the metal has minor nicks, scratches and corrosion, and the plastic handle, small scars.
Clearly I received bottom shelf, left behind old stock. But, hey, it’s a garden tool, it’s going to get dirty and banged around, right? So, what I received is not giftable, but it will do. I’ve purchased a hose by Sun Joe, and it was great. I get the sense that this was an “old inventory clean out” as the garden knife sent appears to be 3 years old and the sale was brief. While I am disappointed that it is not giftable, it seems like a decent enough tool. However, while I do plan to keep it, I have not used it.
The handle seems pretty comfortable in my hand. And there’s a hole, making it easy to hand. The largest issue is the blade. It is not sharp. Normally, this would not present a problem. However, the blade is galvanized steel (zinc coated)!
**As the blade is made out of galvanized metal, please be aware that when sharpening, one should have suitable protection from the resulting zinc dust and/or fumes (depending on your sharpening method choice).**
Not for the serious gardener, it is a good beginner tool, but should have a warning about sharpening.

This is a very good weeder. It is slightly tilted for leverage, the handle is comfortable and the steel shaft is sturdy. I wish the handle was a different color such as red. I lost my last green-handled weeder somewhere in the garden.

Do I say more? Great little hand shovel to plant with outside. Two cutting blade choices are a perfect roots no more method. Thanks

When I seent this Martha Steward hori hori garden shank I had to have it. Unfortunately this product does not have the same quality and durability as other MS products. I ended up using an old kitchen knife that was similar to an old hori hori I had. I expect nothing but perfection from Martha.

I just recently had carpal tunnel surgery and I needed a tool that would dig through the dirt without too much pressure and thank you Martha this works very well.

This garden knife is great for plucking out weeds. With very little effort you get root and all! It’s light weight and comfortable in my hand. I’m a very happy gardener!
