I purchased this router in August 2023 after my old one started dropping the connection. I found it very easy to install, signal strength is good throughout a 3-story house, and it works well with Comcast. After nine months of use, there have been no problems.

This router was easy to set up, has a great app for my phone, and blazing fast speed. The reason I bought it however was a supposed Express VPN compatibility – it does not support ExpressVPN, you have to manually configure open VPN and it took several days of concerted focus to do so… I am no network expert, but I am pretty good when it comes to regular connections, and this was not regular. Once set up, I was unable to access basic websites like Google, and I could no longer access the ASUS Router itself…?? Netflix was still Intermittent, so I am selling this one and buying another that hopefully will allow full express VPN compatibility. Overall a frustrating experience… I just wanna watch Netflix from the Cayman Islands!

Replacement of the RT-AC88U which only works 2 years. Lately, always one of stations loose the internet connection, wondering maybe is switch issue (Netgear GS116). After get a new GS116, still got the same issue, then I concluded it is the WiFi RT-AC88U created the Gigabit connection issues, because found out more ststaions loose the internet also. After office, went to Best Buy got a TP-Link AX3000 Wifi Router, came home to install but problem which auto detect WAN IP(Comcast) setup almost 1 hour, still no result, create headache problem, install Router never sucg difficult and joke, I ahve to manual input IP, MAsk IP Subnet IP…….., this is a Joke, not use friendly! After use phone 5G login Amazon got this Asus router, RT-AX3000(AX58U) on next day shipping, after work came home, first thing is to install this Asus router(kids are almost lost their mind becuase no internet whole day but 5G phone net work!!!), follow the web installation procedure, Camcast cable inot LAN port, the other side connect to PC desktop, hpp://router.asus.com to setup, install new router, SSID, passwork and AUTO-DETECT IP(wha la! Thanks God!), after key-in all information, disconnect the cable, power off, then settle to the location, Comcast cable from Modem into WAN, then GS116 switch cable intot LAN port, re-boot the Cable Moden(Important), also power-on Router, then it all came back to normal, Excellent and easy to setup, use-friendly!

I bought this device to pair with my current ASUS AC68U router using the Ai-Mesh system. Setup was easy, however, I did have a lot of problems in the beginning with constant dropping of signals and dropping of the Ai-Mesh on the hold. After factory resetting the both routers and starting over I was able to successfully setup the system and have a strong, stable WiFi Mesh System. I am using the AX-3000 Router as the main and the AC68U as the secondary. After some firmware updates, my signal is stable and very rarely requires any intervention from me. You can set the system to do an automatic reboot one different days and times so your system is always in good shape. I have no issues except sometimes the occasional hiccup when trying to do a firmware update. Signal strength and speed is excellent. I have approximately 20 devices and they all perform very well with my setup.
This router also features VPN support which works very well as well. I have tried it with both NordVPN and ExpressVPN and they both worked without problems. I love the accompanying mobile APP which gives you all the necessary information and control without having to log into the router using a laptop or desktop.
Parental controls are good and allows you to control your kids devices at a decent level. The router also has built in firewall and antivirus which gives a greater level of protection as data is checked at the router level before reaching your device.
ASUS issues firmware updates regularly fixing bugs and security vulnerabilities ensuring your network is safe and stable. You may find cheaper alternatives to these routers however, you may not get these ongoing updates. This is what makes these devices a great investment as they get better over time.
