Awesome tool. So many different uses. I love the compact size, long battery life and ease of changing the blase. This tool can be used for so many applications, I wish I had one 40 years ago. From wood to nails to cement to drywall to plastic, and so much more — you can cut it with this!

So many uses for this every homeowner should have one! Being cordless makes it even more convenient. Dewalt quality, you wont regret this purchase. From cutting trim to install flooring to zipping thru a piece of exhaust pipe on my sons dirt bike to install an aftermarket pipe, this thing comes in handy. Highly recommended

Used it to cut out a damaged section of cedar clapboard and a few lenghts of trim under roof drip edge. This tool made the job a breeze with nice clean cuts. Glad I got it.

This tool is a must have.
Super versatile, I use it for so many things.
Ultra durability. Other saws I’ve used have had issues over heating but that hasn’t been an issue with this.

This DeWalt Multi Tool was purchased at a really good price during prime days. Comes with the tool, battery, charger and 2 cutting blades along with carrying bag. Battery holds its full charge and the tool work as it should. It’s lightweight and with the blade changing lever, it makes it so easy not having to use an allen wrench to change out blades
Bruce Beaudette –
Easy to handle even with the battery. Blades lock in quickly and easy to change. Runs quite a while on a battery. LED comes in handy when in dark areas. Great tool

The DEWALT 20V MAX XR Oscillating Tool Kit, 3-Speed (DCS356C1), is an exceptional piece of equipment that has significantly enhanced my DIY and professional projects. The tool’s 3-speed selector allows for precise control, making it versatile enough to handle a wide range of tasks, from delicate detail work to more demanding cutting and sanding jobs. The powerful motor delivers high performance, and the cordless design adds a level of convenience and mobility that is invaluable on job sites without easy access to power outlets. The quick-change accessory system is a standout feature, allowing for fast and tool-free blade changes, which saves a considerable amount of time and effort.
In addition to its impressive functionality, the DEWALT DCS356C1 is built to last. The robust construction and high-quality materials ensure durability, even with heavy use. The ergonomic design and comfortable grip reduce hand fatigue, making it easier to use for extended periods. The kit includes a 2.0Ah battery and charger, which provide ample run time and quick recharge, ensuring that the tool is always ready when needed. Overall, this oscillating tool kit offers excellent value for money and is a must-have for anyone serious about their tools, whether for home improvement projects or professional use.

Edited again: I was contacted today by the person handling my chat request for status on the tool. He indicated that he has put in an order to have a new tool sent to me as a result of the long delays. As a rapid response, I am altering my rating accordingly. This is good service, and it probably means that next time, I should send directly to Dewalt, instead of an authorized service center, which just seemed to complicate the process.
Edited 10 weeks after taking in for repair:
It has been 10 weeks since I brought this tool into a Dewalt Authorized service center listed on their site. They sent it to the Dewalt Factory service center in Denver, Co about two weeks after I dropped it off. I contacted the local service center late June. They said the status was “evaluating warranty status.” I Contacted them again today, their only status from the Denver center now is, “backorder part.” Folks, this is a hundred dollar tool if purchased “bare.” I contacted the factory center, they won’t tell me anything.
While only a hundred dollar tool, I have a grand plus invested in new Dewalt tools and batteries.
Dropping the rating to one star for service.
Original review:
Let me start by saying, up until now, I have loved all of my Dewalt 20v tools, and 18v tools before that. I purchased this oscillating tool expecting the same. Never needed a repair besides brushes, so I thought that going brushless would be perfect.
After receiving this tool, I had a few small tasks, cutting wood trim pieces, notching a piece of wood. Then a couple of weeks ago, I used it for a medium job, cleaning up some rough spots in a few vent holes. No problem, worked great!
Reached for it the other day, squeezed the trigger, brzzt, light flashes, nothing. Release and squeeze again? Same. Moved the lock and switched in case something was stuck, same thing. Changed to freshly charged battery. Same thing.
Oh well, figured my luck had to change eventually. I have had Milwaukees, Metabos, and Rigids fail on me, so figured I would just get it to the shop and get the warranty repair. If this were it, I would have given the tool 4 stars… stuff happens, and it worked and handled well before it failed. And it will be back, good as new under warranty.
So I looked for a Dewalt certified service center. Nearest one? 30 miles away. Well, I was heading half way there in a few days, so figured I would just drop it off then.
When I got there, they wanted a 20 dollar diagnostic fee. After I advised them that it’s in first year warranty, and showing them the official registration and warranty Doc I printed off the Dewalt site, the young man ran back to check with the boss on the fee.
He came back and said that they still required the fee, but it would be refunded if, indeed, it was a covered repair. Jeeesh, ok, fair enough.
After providing me with the invoice/receipt, the young man then said that they would get to it in around two weeks, but if they don’t have the parts, they will have to send it off to Dewalt, which typically takes about 30 days or more.
So, could be six weeks without my tool.
That is ridiculous. I will update this if the young man was mistaken, which I hope he was.
