Was using a shovel to edge my lawn. Have a corner property, so it was a lot of work. A friend suggested I look into an edger. Assembly was pretty basic! This handy machine made it a snap! Took a few minutes to get by bearings with operating it, but then it was clear sailing. Great tool! Works very well on city sidewalks and everyone is already commenting on how good the boulevards look!

Awesome little tool, a bit of practice to know where the edge of the pavers actually are, without going too wide or grinding the stones. Easy to handle and operate.

I purchased this edge trimmer after my old one broke. I had been using a Ryobi string trimmer with the edger attachment. That trimmer did the job well, but I could tell that the engine could not provide the power necessary to run an edger. Needless to say, after two years of use, the trimmer completely died. It could have been because the edge attachment only worked well when the trimmer was running at full throttle, which obviously puts a lot of strain on the engine.
I debated whether or not to get a gas edger, but most of the edgers I researched were either too expensive, or not CARB compliant (we have strict emission laws here in Cali). I was going to purchase a Craftsman edger, but after seeing all the bad reviews, I decided not to go with gas and bought the Edge Hog after seeing all the reviews on Amazon.
Got the Edge Hog out of the box. It was quite easy to set up. I didn’t need the manual. You just need to attach the handle, tighten three bolts (no tools required), and I was on my way!
This edger is quite powerful. 2 1/4 horses is plenty adequate for your basic edging needs. Since my old edger/trimmer broke, I had neglected the edges of my lawn and they had already been densely overgrown after six weeks. On short edges, the Edge Hog just breezes right through. Even with the overgrowth, the Hog managed to cut through and leave a nice edge. It was one of the cleanest edges I’ve seen from an edger. I think the serrations on the blade really do help. The guide lines on the blade guard really help to align the blade perfectly to ensure a perfect cut. However, I did have trouble with taller edges. I have St. Augustine grass and the top of the lawn is about three inches taller than the sidewalk. This leaves a lot to cut. The edger did have a bit of trouble with this part. I could hear the motor struggling at times, and at one point smelled the classic burnt plastic smell. If working on dense grass, I recommend you give the motor a break every few minutes to allow it to cool.
Overall, it gets the job done, but I did notice two design flaws:
1. Because the handle is so long, it has more leverage against the motor housing. This causes the product to have a see-saw effect, and because of that, the product tips over quite a bit, especially with the extension cord attached. They could have made the motor housing heavier, which would solve this problem, as well as provide more stability when trimming to ensure a precise cut.
2. The blade guard sticks out too much. When trimming denser grass, the guard tends to catch on the grass. I had to fight with the trimmer a few times to push it along my taller edges. While this may not exactly be a design flaw, IMO, the guard is overbuilt.
One last thing; I would recommend to Black & Decker that they should change the handles from a pistol grip design to a t-bar. I would have much more stability if it were a straight bar, especially when all you have to do is push the edger. The pistol grip is better suited for hedge trimmers and reciprocating saws.
Overall, good product, good warranty. It’s a good option to consider when purchasing your new edger.

A little hard to get use to. But when you get the hang of it. It works great. Beautiful straight edges. Very impressive. Takes very little time to trim like a pro.

This is my second Edge Hog. First one lasted five years with regular use. Amazingly powerful electric motor makes edging relatively simple. A good product.

Bought this as a replacement to a previous version of this product. Improvements have made it even better. Easy to use.

I had been using my string edger, (B&D 20V battery) but when I was hurt in a fall, my edging didn’t get done for over 5 months! So over-grown in my driveway, walkway, and curb the string edger just could not cut the thick runners of grass. Well, I ordered this one (I REALLY wish they would make a battery-operated one) and it still took a bit of time, it did get the job done.d But does a decent job, sometimes I have to run it twice over the thicker spots. I know that once done and kept up weekly, it will become easier. I’m keeping it and will continue to use it. The downside is carrying and 100′ electric cord over my shoulder! I don’t like that, it tends to cause me to lose my balance at times. Overall, I love my B&D tools. The next venture with B&D will be kitchen appliances!
Just a note on B&D – – – ALL my tools are 20v B&D tools – I still use the stringer for trimming around trees, home, garden, and hard sport to mow. I have the 20v power drill with a whole lot of tools for doing all sorts of things, I have a 20v blower that is wonderful for sweeping the front porch, blowing refuse off the curb and driveway that is powerful. (It even works for drying the dogs! LOL* Lastly, I have the 20v hedge trimmer. It works great for overgrown vines and hedges. I have a huge Confederate Jasmine the during, my lapse has invaded my neighbors’ fence, another’s garage, and growing forward to invade my back yard and potted plants. This tool is a honey! Easy quick and far enough in front of me that the vines can just fall and I go.
Tips: If you go with B&D 20v battery tools it is important to clean them and give them a light spray of WD40 when putting them up. Also, these tools all come with a 20v battery and charger, some have 2 batteries included, but I have 8 batteries so I always have one ‘ready to go”. All of these are very easy to use, light enough for carrying (I’m 73 y/o). I wish they offered a battery-operated saw for small projects like bookshelves, border fencing, making pallet tables, and other small projects I would like to make for my back yard. One other thing is that all the battery chargers and batteries are interchangeable to each other, but do not buy the battery with the “black” back (others are cream or grey) because I have never gotten it to take a charge, the charger gets hot, and I’ve tried with all 4 of my chargers and the problem is in the battery! I never sent it back for replacement so I keep in a small box and dead batteries go there for charging but the box keeps my “needs charging batteries separate from the box with “charged and ready”.

Good product. 5 stars, excellent product for the price. Had several in the past. They last a little over 2 years.

I have been in my home for a little over 30 yrs. This most recent purchase of this Black & Decker edger is my 3rd purchase of this model in that time. My home sits on a corner lot that requires edging of sidewalks, curbs, walkways, alleys and a driveway that have a variety of surfaces and edges to contend with. The only maintenance I have ever had to deal with is having to replace blades about every year and a half.
I am more than satisfied with this product. That’s why I have continued to rely on it the two time in 30+ years that I have simple worn one out and needed a replacement.

I was not sure how to use this but once I got going, my yard looks amazing. We also cut the grass to bury wire for outdoor lighting. Works great. I love it.

This is the second LE750 i have owned. My first one I bought in 2013. I live on a corner lot. I have had all types of edgers…4 hp gas clunkers, Ryobi detachable 2 cycle (garbage) 2 cycle Lawn boy …all never lasted 11years like my Black and Decker edger. Yes, lugging a 100 ft cord around to edge is only a mild nuisance
at first, but you get used to it.

Works great. I have a dewalt brushless dewalt trimmer I was edging with snd the power just isn’t there. Aparently their battery opperated edger is the same. This B+D Edger is fantastic. Consistent power and good design. Take a bit of practice to get good at using it but you can’t beat it. The price is 1/3rd of a battery opperated one with at least 2x the power. Well worth the money.
I’m using this for my business so we’ll see how it holds up.
