This is definitely a specialized tool. But when you need it you want to have it in your tool box. Makes olive removal super easy.

Tool worked beautifully!

I’m kind of a jack of all trades and master of none. I wish I had known about this handy dandy little tool many years ago. It made an otherwise impossible job doable. Even for an old man with arthritic hands. I couldn’t recommend this tool anymore that I already am. Well worth the money. I’m actually looking forward to using it on four more valves that I am going to be replacing.

I’m a licensed plumber here in the states, and this little tool is fantastic for pulling off the brass olives/ferrules for compression angle stops. I was previously using the Husky one that you can buy from home depot, but this tool is better because the leverage you get from the handles makes it easier to use, and because it’s way shorter than the Husky one, you can use it in tighter spaces, like a washer box. On a side note, it is also suprisingly solid and durable for the price point too. Supper happy with this tool.

Simple tool that gets the job done right. Easily removed the olive/ brass compression ring without damaging the pipe. Definitely one of the best simple tools I’ve bought.

No good, not enough leverage to turn. The handle does not work. If it was built with a drill with power, it might work do not recommend.

Easily removes stuck ferrules (olives in some areas) from pipes to replace or remove compression fittings. simple and fast to use. Solid brass construction to and built to last.

The threads on the bigger connection were damaged, luckily i have a thread repair kit with the proper size. The smaller threads are fine and work for my needs. It would have received five stars if the thread were not damaged.
It is easy to use. If there is a lot of calcium deposits on the olive, you may want to spray it with WD40 or put a little CLR on the calcium buildup. This tool will still pull the olive without doing that.

It seems to be built well, but it just does not work. Even putting a longer “T handle” in it does not help. Keep looking for something better and don’t buy this.

Labor saving, works well. Great addition for the tool box, also at a very affordable price.

Project: Removed two twenty-year-old shutoff values (hot & cold), which also required removing each shutoff values’ brass compression ring from copper water pipes that are 1/2” inside diameter (5/8” outside diameter). The brass compression ring is normally difficult, if not impossible, to slide off of the pipe without a specialized tool (you can check internet for various methods for removing brass compression rings).
So did this tool work?
Short Answer: Yes; the tool worked. It removed (slid) the brass compression ring off of each pipe.
Long Answer: Overall, the tool appears to be well made (feels solid in the hand, well machined, handle & threads move freely without sticking or jamming).
Tool description on Amazon says that the tool is “… suitable for brass pipes with diameters of NPT 1/2” & NPT 3/4” …” My project involved 1/2” inside diameter (5/8” outside diameter) copper pipe and it fit perfectly with the tool’s 1/2” fitting. I did not have the opportunity to test the tool’s 3/4” fitting.
It took a minute to figure out how best to use the tool (an instructional video I found for a similar tool helped). This tool is not complicated, but if you’ve never used a particular tool before it always helps to see it in action to demystify how best to use it. Note to vendor, a short/simple instructional video with tips would be a nice addition.
The handle that comes with the tool worked well to get things started (e.g., seating the tool’s threads into the threads of the shutoff valve’s compression nut and then working the compression ring off the copper pipe a bit), but once the compression ring reached a certain point on the pipe it became difficult to turn the tool’s handle (was hard to get the leverage / torque needed to keep things moving). Per another reviewer’s suggestion I removed the included handle and used a short screw driver as a handle (I used a Torx screwdriver, but a Phillips head would have worked just as well). It gave me the leverage I needed to keep turning the tool to move the compression ring along the pipe until it popped off. There was no damage or deformity in the pipes afterwards.
Good tool and recommend. Would be great with a better handle and perhaps the option to seat it in a power drill.
