I have been a huge fan of Seiko watches and own a few for its excellent quality, great timeless design, incredible detailing, and timekeeping accuracy. I fell in love with this Speedtimer model the first time I saw it. The โpanda faceโ is such a fresh and modern look for a chronograph. I love the high contrast of the white face which makes it easy to read and looks distinctive. The dark dials houses the solar cells to charge the watch and under bright sunlight they appear translucent ink blue which is a cool subtle detail. To accomodate these solar cells the date window is pretty sunken in the face making it harder to read. This is the only fault, though minor, I have with this watch. Itโs nice to know that I will never need to change a battery and with regular wear in any kind of light it will stay charged (it has a 40 hour power reserve).
The illuminated hands and dial markers have a nice bright blue glow that is long lasting, and the sweeping movement of the second hand is nice to see.
I have a smaller wrist and this 39mm size is the perfect size, and also oversized watches are thankfully an outgoing trend these days, and this makes for a great versatile casual watch I could wear everyday, at work or travelling.
Any watch aficionado can tell you that Seikoโs are just as good as any Swiss-made watch for much less and without the pretension of a luxury brand (why wear a watch that has the stigma of potentially being a knockoff?). This is an excellent value quality chronograph for under $1,000 CAD.
Eventually I want to graduate to a Grand Seiko, a very sought after and admired luxury watch by experts (and better than any Rolex which I think are overrated and over-marketed) but those are over $10k and definitely worth it. In the meantime, this Seiko Speedtimer and my other Seiko will do just fine.

Came in looking clean and nice glad i chose to get it off here instead of going to a seiko shop but would recommend getting a new strap if you want better micro adjustments

This is a really nice watch. You can see the quality of workmanship and know that itโs a Seiko, so you can count on the mechanics of the watch to work for years to come. I also spoke to the sellers, Gala Watches, Iโm sorry but I forgot the ladyโs name, but she was so polite and helpfulโฆ.wow, that seems to be a rarity these days! The only problem that I had with this watch is that itโs a little small for my wrist at 8 inches, but thatโs my faultโI should have checked on that earlier. Iโve had this watch for about a month or so and every time I look at it, it makes me happy. For reals! Lol. I think that if you got it, you wonโt be disappointed, just get the right size for your wrist.

This watch is very versatile, casual, dress, outdoors. It is solar so it is always running without the need to change a battery. Being 39mm itโs smaller than most chronographs of the same style, but itโs a perfect size for the design. Seller is great too, very fast shipping!

This beautiful panda dial chronograph watch from Seiko has a 39mm case size, which wears well for my smaller wrist size of 6 and 1/4 inch. I was able to a good discount from the retail price. The seller , Watches Gala, is an authorized dealer for Seiko watches and was responsive when I requested for a warranty card. I received the card in the mail within 6 days. Overall, it was positive buying experience.
GRASSHOPPER –
For under $600!? Incredible value. I bought this watch for an upcoming tripโฆnot sure if I felt 100% safe wearing an expensive watch in a strange island country, so this is fitting the bill perfectly. Thereโs very little to complain about. Readability for 55+ eyes is not the best, nor am I a fan of pin-type bracelets that are just not easy to remove links. Aside from those minor issuesโฆagain, this is just a steal for under $600. 39mm is perfect for for my 6.5โ wrist; could easily work for smaller (or wrists to 7โ). Only. Short time of wear, but keeping dead on time, as would be expected from a Seiko solar quartz. Very happy with my purchase!

This is the daytona you can afford (yes, you! the value seeker watch collector).
W. Delbridge –
It definitely deserves the “Seitona” nickname when you compare it’s looks to the ultra-expensive Rolex Daytona. I prefer this SSC813 to the larger and newer SSC911 which looks much too large on my 6.75″ wrist.
The SSC813 is a beautiful and functional watch. The date window is a joke however and almost impossible to read under any lighting conditions.
I also must admit that the original Seiko steel bracelet is a poor match and below the quality of the watch. Take a look at the Alpine silicone black/grey band. If you want to splurge, the Artem sailcloth band looks the best of all.
I bought both. These replacement bands are a better match stylistically than the Seiko bracelet and are much lighter and more comfortable.
