My younger grandson loves anything Star Wars, and his young sister will follow him anywhere, so when this (almost) life-sized R2D2 model robot arrived at their house, it was pandemonium! A really cool feature of this model is that it “talks” (you remember how this little robot vocalizes, don’t you?) when you activate a button; it also projects little discs when you move another switch. The back is open so kids can go behind this toy and pretend to be a robot. I got an excited call from my grandson telling me how excited he was to get this, and that was enough to convince me that this is a 5 star “must have” gift you’ll want for your own children and grandchildren…

Very fun to play with for kids. Looks very nice for Star Wars toys.

This is a very high quality R2D2 figure. I love that it comes with batteries and works right out of the box. Though the main figure is made of plastic, it feels like it will last for years – something that is uncommon with kids toys these days. It’s also very loud and bright, which adds to the feeling of it being high quality. Finally, C3PO is indeed made out of metal and rests of a powerpad, which is super cool! Great toy for kids and adults alike!

Ok, this playset is based upon R2D2, one of the all-time most popular Droid from Star Wars. He can’t be solo, of course, and is supported by a small C3PO on a ‘power pad’. If you rotate C3PO on his little pad, brightly colored red to stand out, R2 will have pop-out elements, sounds and lights.
I should mention that R2 is the front half of the little Droid. The back half is open.
But it has moving parts, such as the periscope that you see in Empire Strikes Back when R2 is scanning at Hoth for Luke and Han.
Overall for the very young this is a fun set with lights, sound, moving parts, a small disc that launches out, and is all made of heavy plastic to stand up to active play by a youngster.

This R2-D2 toy is an impressive addition to any Star Wars collection. The toy features the front section of R2-D2 with an open back design, allowing for interactive play. Accompanying the R2-D2 is a metal C-3PO figure, which can be placed in a designated spot to activate various features of R2-D2. Upon activation, R2-D2 emits the endearing sounds fans are familiar with and displays some movement, much to the delight of young enthusiasts.
My preschooler particularly enjoys the projectile discs, which add an element of excitement to the play experience. While the toy is equipped with wheels, it does not move independently. Despite the variety of sounds and actions, I feel that for the price, additional movements or interactive features could have been included. Nevertheless, the overall design and aesthetic of the toy are faithful to the iconic appearance of R2-D2 from the films. The quality is commendable, with the toy feeling robust and not easily breakable.
The light-up functions and smooth head rotation are standout features, adding to the toy’s appeal. My son and I enjoy spending considerable time playing with this toy, particularly enjoying the surprise elements such as the projectiles launched from hidden compartments. Overall, this R2-D2 toy provides a delightful and engaging play experience, making it a worthwhile addition for any Star Wars fan.

This is a really cool toy or if you would like a display for your collection. It is made out of plastic but not thin and cheap like most toys. It is a lot more heavy duty than I expected which is great for the abuse that kids put on toys. The back is open which is what the kids like best playing with their other action figures and having a blast for sure.

My 2 year old loves it! Would recommend.

This set is very large, but also perfectly detailed! It really does look like an actual R2. I think it will be a fun set for the kids to play their additional Imaginext toys in as well. Not much to do inside the set though. The diecast C3PO is a nice touch as well. This might be more of a collectors item vs. toy for the kids. My son did lose interest after about 10 minutes.
