WORKS INSTANTLY: Highly concentrated aquarium treatment works instantly to remove harmful chemicals, making tap water safe for fish in freshwater, saltwater and planted aquariums; Reduces the risk of fish loss when starting or maintaining a fish tank
DECHLORINATOR: Removes chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals which are found in tap water and can cause gill and tissue damage, breathing difficulty, stress and fish death
AMMONIA REMOVER: Removes the toxic ammonia continually released by fish through their gills, urine and solid waste. Uneaten food and decaying organic matter also add ammonia. Small amounts of ammonia stress fish; large amounts of ammonia will kill fish

I wasn’t testing the ammonia content of my 3 aquariums…I mean, the water in all three is crystal clean with over-filtering, so what’s the need? I was oh so wrong! I decided to check it on all three of my aquariums because a fish died in one of them. The ammonia levels in one were zero PPM. The other two had ammonia levels that were literally off the charts; greater than 8 PPM. I immediately did an 80% water change on both, but the ammonia levels were still off the charts! I then used Aqua Essential in both tanks for 5 days. One of them has zero PPM ammonia, the other is at 1 PPM. This product really works to remove ammonia from an aquarium, and it works really quickly. I will check the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels once a week going forward.

I had been trying to bring my nitrate and nitrite levels back to normal through water changes. The levels were so high that Petco wouldn’t even sell me new fish. It was a very slow process that was yielding little results. I bought this, and in 1 treatment the levels were back to normal. Well worth it.

Super concentrated! Hard to measure for single gallon jugs, but it’ll last a LONG time. It’s necessary to remove chloramine if your city uses it. It does not off-gas like the more unstable chlorine. Conditioners that only remove chlorine aren’t enough.
